“I'm sure they understood. I wish I had been at the funeral, but I was in Paris working at the time.”

“I wish it had never happened, and I had run into you in Paris.”

I turned Melissa around to face me. She crawled into my lap, straddled me and I captured her mouth with a deep kiss. “I love you, bébé.”

“I love you too, Evan. Merry Christmas.”

“Speaking of Christmas... I got you a present.”

“I got you something too.” Melissa jumped off me and ran out of the room. I got up and walked to the desk drawer to get her gift. When she came back, she climbed back onto my lap. “You first!” she insisted handing me a wrapped box.

I unwrapped the box and found a jewelry case. Inside was an Omega watch; an18-carat gold case with sapphire crystal over a numberless silver dial, and a black leather strap. “Do you like it? I know how you love to accessorize.”

“It's amazing I love it!” I took it out and started to try it on.

“Good, because I had it engraved. Turn it over.”

I was overwhelmed when I saw the inscription; 'Je t'aime de tout mon cœur, Melissa.' I put the watch on and kissed her beautiful lips. “I love you with all my heart too, bébé. Now, your turn.” I handed her a Tiffany blue box with a white ribbon.

“Ooh la la. I like the box!”

“I hope you love what's in it.” I said as she untied the ribbon, removed the lid and gasped.

“Evan, they're gorgeous!” she exclaimed pulling out two strands of pearls twisted together. “J’adore, monsieur,” she said with tears rolling down her face.

I wiped her tears. “Pull your hair up, bébé. Let me put them on you. They represent us entwined together.” I secured them around her neck and kissed her. “They look fantastique on you.”

“They will be perfect with my wedding dress. Merci beaucoup! Now will you take me to bed so I can thank you properly?”

I growled while I carried her quickly across the hall to our bed. “We can thank each other all night long.”

IT WAS NICE to sleep in this morning after our night of extracurricular activities and the unpacking of Evan's things he moved from his parents' apartment. Waking up entwined with this gorgeous man every morning was going to be pure heaven! I couldn't help but stare at him. I adored his chiseled face, long dark eyelashes and kissable lips. Oh, when those intense blue eyes opened and looked at me, my heart pounded wildly.

“Good morning, bébé,” he said with a sexy smile as he pulled me into him. He brushed his lips against mine, and I could barely breathe when he said, “Je t'aime,” in a sleepy voice.

Melting in his arms, I whispered, “I love you too.” He felt so warm and safe.

“It’s too early, bébé, go back to sleep,” he said snuggling me into him, and we drifted back to sleep.

When I finally woke up, Evan was gone but I knew exactly where he was. I could hear him playing the piano. I slipped on a silk robe, tied it up and padded out to the living room where I found Evan playing, wearing nothing but a low-slung pair of workout pants. Yummy! I walked over to the piano and climb on top of it, rolled on my side and faced him. He gave me a smirk and continued playing. I loved hearing him play.

Deciding to have a little fun with him, I loosened my robe and let it fall open, exposing my body. No response from him. He played on. I started touching one of my breasts, rubbing and pinching a nipple. He's watching me as he played. The heat between my legs was throbbing. I rolled on to my back giving equal attention to both of my nipples. His playing continued so with one hand I reached between my legs and began to stroke myself. I thought for sure he would stop, but he kept on playing, so I did too.

Turning my head, I looked into his intense blue eyes, and I sucked two of my fingers into my mouth. Keeping eye contact, I moved my hand slow down my body, splaying my legs open wide, inserting my two fingers inside of me and moaned. He still played. I rolled my head back, arched my back, circled my clit with one hand and move my fingers in and out. As “oh mon dieu, this feels so good,” escaped my lips I heard his voice.

“Get off that piano now! Come here!” He said in a growl.

“Yes, monsieur.” I murmured and with shaky legs, I climbed off and straddled Evan. Reaching between us, I released his beautiful erection. He pushed my robe completely off and began feasting on my breasts as he slid into me, growling my name.

I moaned, “Mmmm. J'adore ta bite en moi. I love your cock in me.” With my knees firmly planted on either side of his muscular thighs, I raised myself until he was almost completely out of me and then I slipped slowly back down. Pinching my own nipples, Evan held my waist tightly while I tortured both of us with a slow rhythm. “Ta miaou est vraiment étroi. You have such a tight pussy,” Evan replied and growled, “No more teasing me. Ride me faster, bébé.”

Lost in wild abandonment, I sped up, rocking back and forth, moaning, “Oh mon dieu, Evan… oh Evan…” It was still not enough for him and his wrapped his arms tighter around me. Stilling my rocking, he thrust deep and hard into me, and I screamed his name again. I felt him starting to tense as my walls began to spasm. “Mmmm. Bébé, squeeze me.” I milked his cock with my pussy. “Oh fuck, j’adore ta miaou,” Evan shouted stroking into me, making me feel so yummy. As we were panting wildly, coming together, we heard a loud voice.

“Holy shit! Lily was right. You two are hot together! Jane exclaimed. “You could do porn that I would be willing to watch and enjoy. Wow!”

Evan lifted up, pulling on his pants then reached down for my robe as I yelled at Jane, “Oh my gawd, first Lily, then the real estate people, and now you!”

“I'm sorry Melissa. When I walked in, I was shocked by the view and I couldn't move. Wow. So hot. Incroyable as you like to say all the time.” I gave her a dirty look. “Truly Melissa. Evan, I'm sorry.”

As I was about to say something the doorbell rang. Jane said, “I'll get it while you two get dressed. It should be all the girls.”

“She's not ready. Take them out to lunch on me.” Evan goes into the other room and comes back with several folded bills. “Give us a couple of hours.” Then Evan threw me over his shoulder and headed into our bedroom.

WHEN JANE CAME back in a few hours later with Lily, Sylvie, Jennie and Evan's mother Layla, I was ready to go. My bags were packed for the next couple of days. I had to say I hated to leave Evan, but his mother insisted that we stay apart the night before the wedding, and I agreed to go along with her request. I could see Evan wasn't happy about the arrangement either.

Jane loved to tease Evan, and she was so good at it. “We're taking your woman out to enjoy her last night of 'single-hood,' thinking a male orgy for her might be fun!”

Suddenly there was a glare on the face of my gorgeous man directed at Jane. “That is not happening! My mother will be with you.”

Lily decided to join in Jane's fun. “It was your mum's idea.” All of them laughed. I didn't think Evan found anything funny about this teasing by the way his eyebrows are furrowed together.

I wrapped my arms around him and whispered, “Don't listen to them. I love you, and you are the only one I want to have an orgy with; just you and my toys.” I giggled, then gave him a kiss and hug. “Come help me grab some glasses and stop worrying about me.” Evan and I walked into the dining room to my special champagne fridge while the girls made themselves comfortable in the living room. “I'll be a good girl. Don't worry,” I whispered into his lips.

“Thanks to Andrew being with you, I will know everything.”

“He doesn't have to go with us. Who in their right mind is going to bother a loud group of women?”

“I will feel better if he is close by.”

“Ok.” I gave him a deep, moan-worthy kiss before we served up champagne to the giggling group of women. We made a few toasts then head out for the night.

I kissed Evan goodbye one last time. “I will miss sleeping next to you tonight.”

“Mmmm. I will miss you more,
beautiful. Be safe. Call me when you get to the hotel later.”

WE MADE OUR way to the Pierre Hotel first to check-in to our rooms. Walking into the gorgeous lobby, I felt the breath rush from my body and had to steady myself. The last time I entered this space I was with my parents and we were rushing in to deposit our luggage and heading out into the city to find Christmas. This visit all the décor seemed to be jumping out at me. How was it that I never noticed the gleaming black and white flooring, the gold ornamentation on the walls and in the ceiling alcoves along with the crystal chandeliers? It was the same, and yet it had a completely different feel.

“Are you okay, Lissa?” I heard Lily ask quietly.

I swallowed hard, choking back the tears that wanted to come and answered, “I’m fine… I’m fine.”

Tipsy Jane emerged from the Two-E Lounge and joined us, looping her arms through both of ours, “I think we need more champagne, I see too many sober girls.” Shaking our heads we all laughed and continued to the front desk.

After everyone dropped off their belongings to their rightful rooms, we piled into Layla‘s suite for one more bottle of champagne. Once our glasses are drained, and our lipstick was touched up, we were off for a nice dinner at Cipriani Downtown on West Broadway between Spring and Broome Street. The six of us slipped into a table along the wall situated close to the entrance. It was a perfect location for people watching, but not tonight; our table was having too much fun to pay attention to anyone else.

Throughout the evening while drinking Bellinis made with yummy white peach juice and Italian prosecco, and eating delicious food, I was presented lovely gifts. Layla had pre-selected our menu, and it was incredible. We started with a couple appetizers we all share: baby artichokes and salmon with asparagus. With this course, Layla handed me a box that contained two exquisite Baccarat flutes from the Mille Nuits collection. They were tall, thin-cut crystal with variegated shades of blue that flow from clear blue to midnight blue at the stem.

Holding one of them up to the light, I commented, “These are amazing, they remind me of Evan’s eyes, and I've seen them change to almost all of these shades.” Putting the flute back, I turned to Layla and thanked her with a hug. “Thank you so much.”

“You’re very welcome, dear. I look forward to seeing you two toasting with them tomorrow.” Layla winked at me, and I smiled. I was so fortunate this lovely woman was going to be my mother-in-law.

With our next course, a special pasta not on the menu, and their Risotto Primavera, Sylvia handed me a large fancy envelope from Guerlain Spa. Oui oui oui, a day at the spa for me.

“Perfect! Thank you, and I do hope all of you will be coming along.” The girls all raised their glasses and agreed they were all ready to be pampered. I was loving this girls’ night out. I felt so loved, and yet part of me was sad; I wished my mother was here to celebrate. A couple tears threatened to drop down, and I quickly swiped my hands across my cheeks. I felt a hand squeeze my wrist and hand me another Bellini. I smiled at Jane and mouth “Thank you.”

“Okay, it’s my turn,” Jennie exclaimed as our main course of Scampi and Filet of Sole alla Carlina was served. She thrust a big gift bag in my direction, and I pulled out one of her gorgeous handbags from her very own Jennifer Crandall collection.

“Ooh la la, trés chic! I love it!” I squealed.

“I’m thrilled you like it. Now look inside!” She commanded.

“Why are you so pushy, Jen?” Sylvie said in a scolding fashion. We all laughed when we see Jennie stick her tongue out at her older sister.

Reaching into the purse I found a dainty champagne jeweled clutch and my mouth drops opened, “It’s so beautiful. I can’t wait to use it. In fact, it will be fabulous with my wedding dress. Thank you.”

While savoring three different delectable Italian desserts, my two best friends presented me with a bag from Chantal Thomass Paris. I was afraid to see what kind of French lingerie those two had purchased for me. Reluctantly, I pulled out each item, and there were two sets of gorgeous lace bras, panties and garters with bows, jewels and flowers on them. “They’re so pretty. Much too pretty to wear under clothing,” I said with a bit of heat in my cheeks. Everyone started laughing.

Lily leaned in and whispered in my ear, “I have a riding crop and masque back at the hotel to complete the gift… didn’t want to scare your future-in-law." As she finished her statement she laughed, and I wasn't sure if she was joking or not, one never knew with my dear Lil.

We finished off our meal with cappuccinos and then we went back to the hotel. Jane, Lily and I all settled in for the night together in a big king-size bed. It was like an adult slumber party; telling stories, giggling, crying and threatening to freeze each others bras. I hadn't been with the two of them together in such a long time, it felt so good, and I knew I was going to miss them, but I would cherish this moment forever.

“Lissa, what are you thinking about? You’re so quiet. Are you okay?” asked Lily.

“I’m fine. Just feeling sentimental being with both of you. You’re my only family.” As the last word left my mouth, Lily jumped off the bed and raced to her luggage. Returning, she plopped back down on the bed next to me and pushed an envelope in my hand.

“Hey, Lissa, I have something for you. When I was sorting through your mother’s things, I found a letter addressed to you. Earlier today I took it out of the box, I haven’t read it, but I thought it might be important.

I look down and immediately recognize my mother’s handwriting on the outside on the envelope. To Melissa on Your Wedding Day. I took a deep breath flipped it over and drew out a piece of parchment paper.

  My Dear Sweet Mimi,

Today is your big day, and I know you have thought long and hard about making this lifetime commitment but please allow me a few thoughts. Marriage is a wonderful thing but, not for the weak of heart or spirit. When things get tough, and they will, remember today, your wedding day. Remember why you chose to spend the rest of your life with this man and why he chose you. Through the years, things will change. Struggles will come and go, but the person you are marrying today will be still be that same person with a few new ideas, a few new views. Remember to honor that. Marriage can equal happiness, but you must be realistic. It is not a fairy tale come true. It is a fairy tale in progress that requires daily tending. Always be yourself and let him always be who he is, too. Don't forget to let him be a man.

I love you so much, my sweet and beautiful girl. I am so proud to call myself your mother.

  Love, Your Maman

By the time I read the last words of her letter, tears were running down all three of our faces. I handed it to Lily who in turn shared it with Jane. I didn't know what to say. There were no words to express how I felt at the moment. The feeling was something between joy and sadness. I wondered if it was possible for those two words to coexist.

“I had to give it to you, Lissa since I knew it existed and as much as I knew it would make you sad, I thought it might also bring you happiness. Your mom’s here with you. She’s with you every day, but this letter makes her part of your special day. I hope you’re not mad at me,” Lily said tearfully while touching my shoulder.

I turned and hugged her tightly, “Of course, I’m not mad. This means a lot to me. Merci.”

Not wanting to be left out, Jane put her arms around both of us. “She’s going to be fine. Lil, you did a good thing.” Then, as only Jane could do, she turned the night around adding, “It’s a big day tomorrow and it’s going to be wonderful. Remember Melissa, you get to fuck that gorgeous man legally forever!”

With that statement, we all laughed hysterically until we had tears running down our faces. After all the good food, good bubbly, good laughs and tears, we fell into a fitful sleep.

  IN THE MIDDLE of the night, I woke up abruptly and looked around trying to figure out where I was. My eyes scanned the room, and the memories of the last time I stayed in this hotel flooded my mind. I was with my parents;
we'd just come back from our holiday window stroll and gourmet dinner. We were so happy. We were laughing. My parents were telling me they were exhausted. They hugged me goodnight and told me they loved me. Tears were pouring down my face, and all I could think was, I had to get out of here.

I jumped out of bed, hurried to get dressed, dashed out of the bedroom and headed for the door. As I was about to walk out of the hotel room, Lily caught my arm. “Where are you going Melissa?”

  “I can't stay here. I need Evan!”

Breaking free of her grasp, I was out the door, running for the elevator. I went straight to the front desk and asked for a car immediately. When I was seated in the back of the hotel town-car, I realized I didn't have my purse, my keys, or my phone. I had nothing. That was what I had. Nothing!

At my building, I was greeted by Phillip. I gave him a quick hello and rushed for the elevator. Stepping out, I was quickly pulled into two very strong arms. “Bébé, Lily called me scared to death that you might be running away again.”

“I told her I needed you! I don't care about tradition. I need to be with you. I couldn't stay in that hotel. I woke up with visions of my parents and our last time there. The memories were suffocating me. I wanted your arms around me. Tell me that everything will be okay. I don't want to be alone anymore.”

“Oh bébé, I've got you now. You will never be alone again.” Evan scooped me up and carried me to our bed. “You're home, bébé.” We climbed in bed. Clinging together, we fell asleep.

ON OUR WEDDING day, I woke up alone, the first time that Melissa had left our bed before me. I got up to look for her. As I walked down the hallway I heard her singing, or I should say more like chanting or rapping. I followed her voice to the workout room. There she was; shaking her beautiful ass on the elliptical machine. I leaned back against the wall and enjoyed the view. The music was not appealing to me, but it made me laugh watching her performance. She always made me smile. I loved that woman so much. I couldn't believe how she made me feel since the first day I saw her. Why did I wait so long to approach her?
