While Melanie's attention focused on Taft, Victoria took her elbow and slammed it into Melanie's ribs. Air whooshed from her chest and the knife clattered and slid across the floor. Melanie collapsed to the floor, attempting to catch her breath as sobs took over.

The front door burst open and the police rushed in. “We had an alarm go off with a tracer from Companionship, Inc., Victoria Taylor. Is everyone all right?” said one of the officers.

  "Yes,” Victoria answered.

Taft looked at Victoria, his gaze narrowed.

"I pressed the security beeper while I was still in the bathroom. I heard the commotion out here. When I stole a quick glance, I saw you with Melanie and the knife she held."

One of the policemen pulled Melanie from the floor. “Well, if it's not Miss Melanie Miller. We've been looking for her.” He pulled her arms behind her back and handcuffed her. “You're being taken into custody and charged with the murder of Judith Frye. You have the right to remain silent..."

Later that night, Victoria and Taft talked well into the wee hours. Victoria told Taft of her deep desire to go back to school and get a degree in social work. She said she felt a strong calling to work with the homeless now that she knew what it was like first hand. Taft told her of his desire to have a family—with her. She had wanted to support Taft's desire as he wished to help her achieve hers.

Victoria placed her wineglass on the coffee table and closed her eyes. Taft kissed each eyelid softly then moved down to nuzzle her neck as he opened the robe exposing her breasts to his view.

Taft slid his hands between her breasts and stomach, making the robe fall further open to his perusal. Taft took in her wondrous physique. But what he loved, what he wanted to make love to, was her heart and soul. No woman had ever moved him like this; no woman had ever stirred the passion in him he felt now. No amount of physical beauty could reach him as deeply as her soul did.

Taft had never before had the experience of opening up, feeling as if his spirit meshed completely with another. It was as wondrous and as close to heaven as anyone could possibly get while on earth. Making love to her would be a sacred expression of combined spirit—a force that could move mountains. With Victoria, he could do anything.

Taft kissed her deeply and moved her further down onto the sofa. Her eyes remained closed. “Let me love you, baby."

Victoria smiled, allowing all her tensions and fears to gently roll out of her like a lazy river. She had never felt this soft, this vulnerable, or this open. And for once it was okay. Her fears dissolved in the warmth of Taft arms. She would take the risk of loving again—Taft was worth it; they both were.

Taft tongued her ear, sending shivers of anticipation down her spine. He moved to her nipple and rolled it gently in his mouth. She panted, lost in the passionate world of their making. He reached down with his hand to spread her legs. Standing, he lowered the thin lounge pants he wore following their bath.

Victoria opened her eyes. His erection beckoned her. She wanted it to slide deep, spreading her with its thickness. He positioned himself on top of her, his pulsing erection probing her. She moved against him, needing to feel him inside her. She grasped his penis in an attempt to guide him within her.

"Not so fast, baby. Let's take it slow, savor each other. There's only a first time once. Let's make it something to remember."

She tried to relax as he rubbed his erection against her. Close to the edge, she clutched the couch with her hands. Taft grabbed her wrists and placed them over her head, then slid his penis slowly inside her, teasing her with just the tip, then with each stroke he drove deeper and deeper, until she no longer knew where he ended and she began. They had become one.

His hips moved slowly, rhythmically. His pace increased, making her breath catch. Something was different with this man like no other. A deeper feeling, a frightening coil building within her, starting at her loins and curling outwards. Her hands still trapped over her head, he tangled his free hand in her hair, grasping it tightly. She had never felt so alive, so electrified; she never wanted this to end. He rose up a bit, making his erection feel as if it had hit the top, causing her to cry out in passion. His breathing increased; hers became shallow. The sweat on their bodies pooled between them, allowing them to slide together as he pounded into her, pulling her hair a bit tighter with the intensity. He plunged his tongue into her mouth, matching the rhythm and force of their bodies. His body rubbing against her clit with each stroke causing sensations unlike anything she had ever known.

Spasms of ecstasy greater than she'd ever imagined ripped through her, and for a few seconds she saw black and traveled somewhere else. His hips thrust into her a final time and her body writhed with the simultaneous, multiple orgasms that she thought would never cease.

"Oh, Victoria. Yes, oh, God, yes,” Taft groaned and shook with the need of his upcoming release. He lay against the crook of her neck and whispered, “I love you."

Her arms tightened around him. “I love you, Taft."

They collapsed against each other, wrapped tightly in each other's embrace. She rested her check against his chest, hot wet tears catching in the hairs. He lifted her chin and she saw concern in his expression.

  "Did I hurt you?"

"No, that's not it at all. I think I just experienced my first orgasm. I thought I had them in the past. But nothing compared to this. My God, now I know what all the fuss is about."

Taft chuckled as being her first washed over him. She had given him an incredible gift.

Tomorrow, Victoria thought as she snuggled back against his chest, I will marry this man I love. Nothing else in the world mattered.

With that final thought, she fell asleep; a deep-seated slumber, filled with incredible dreams of a life spent with Taft Houston. Starting now.
