Sweet As Sin Page 24

Dammit! He shot to his feet and ran a hand over his face. Maybe he was tired. He should just head home. Owen would be waiting for him but Hunter hated the idea of leaving his father here alone. What if he woke up again and no one was around?

A sound froze him in place and when he looked down at his father again, he realized that his eyes were open. “Dad!” He was by his side in the next instant. “Dad! You’re awake!”

  See! He wasn’t seeing things!

A rush of relief spread through him. He was never happier to see those green eyes staring back at him. “Where am I?” Matthew rasped.

“You’re in a hospital. You were in a car accident. Do you remember what happened?” Matthew shook his head. “That’s okay. The police are . . .” Hunter trailed off as his father’s mouth opened. It looked like he was trying to say something. “What is it?” he asked, leaning forward to hear him better.

“Don’t—” He was clearly struggling to speak. Matthew licked his lips and Hunter immediately went to grab him a glass of water.

After taking a sip, Hunter prompted him again. “Don’t what?”

  “Don’t let Clive . . . take my place . . . at Gleam.”

“Clive?” Hunter frowned. Out of all the things his father could say to him, why would he say that? “Why not?” Clive was already taking care of things in his father’s absence. He’d been doing it for a few days already.

Matthew shook his head. “You . . . you have to do it.”

Hunter reared back. “What?” No way!

“You,” his father said again. Speaking was obviously still a hardship for him so Hunter told him to relax.

He couldn’t believe this! There was no way he could take his father’s place as the CEO! Clive was much more suited for the role. Why was his father still pushing this on him? Was this his way of trying to get him to do what he wanted?

Maybe one of his siblings could step in. At least they would have some experience working there already.

He wondered why his father didn’t want Clive Davenport, the man he’d started the company with, to cover for him while he was recovering. Had something happened between them? Had it something to do with accident?

He opened his mouth to ask but then realized that Matthew had dozed off again. Shit. He was torn between wanting to wake him so he could ask more questions and leaving him to rest. The poor man definitely needed it. He couldn’t even finish a proper sentence without struggling. Hunter would let him rest then. There was no use trying to pry words out of him when he clearly wasn’t feeling well enough yet.

In his frustration, Hunter decided that it was best that he head home. At least now he could tell his siblings that their father had woken up.

Or should he? What would he tell them? Should he reveal what his father had said to them too?

Hunter got into his car and tried focusing only on the road ahead of him. He should be thrilled to tell his siblings that their father had woken up, but why then did thinking of Clive suddenly give him such a cold feeling in his chest?

  MORE THAN THIS

  Moonrise Beach, Book Three

Hunter Happa-Hewitt’s life has never been more stressful. With his divorce behind him, he thought that life with his five-year-old son would be easier. But now his father is in the hospital and has asked him to take his place as the CEO of Gleam Enterprises, a part that he has no interest in playing. Hunter is about to refuse when he suspects that his father’s accident perhaps wasn’t really an accident at all. Now, he will do everything in his power to learn the truth.

No one is more surprised than Sam Cosi is when she finds the sexy billionaire in her office, asking for her help. Although this isn’t her usual MO, Sam can’t say no to the job—or the man. But working alongside Hunter proves difficult, especially as she can no longer hide her feelings for him.

Can love still bloom in the midst of mystery? Or will their love run out when they discover the truth that binds them?

  RESURRECTION

  Glory MC series, Book Four

When the president of the club goes missing, Beck Caulder, one of Glory MC’s sergeant at arms, is the one to strap on his anti-radiation gear and go in search for him. Problem is, Knuckle has a hit on him, which means Beck won’t be the only one on the lookout.

When Beck discovers that the president is hiding in Westborough, the most dangerous place in Ward Four, he has no choice but to run headlong into Slasher territory. There, he encounters Devine Blaise, the raven-haired beauty, covered in leather and tattoos. With her killer bod and equally killer instincts, Devine quickly becomes Beck’s dream woman. Too bad she’s also the mercenary hired to take out his club’s president.

Equally matched in determination and skill, the chase soon becomes a battle of the most deadly as Beck and Devine try to take each other out. This should be easy for the club’s sergeant at arms, but resisting the killer becomes the hardest battle he’s ever fought—and the only one Beck fears he can’t win.
