That included the facility she had stayed in while recovering from amnesia. The place where she and Jason first met. Rebecca now knew that the Scottsdale Behavioral Health Center specialized in the mental health care and healing of Wiccan like herself. She wanted to help make that a better place for others of her kind. She knew how important the gardens had been to her, and wanted their legacy to continue for the sake of other Wiccan. Though Rebecca wasn’t there to create the garden she had envisioned, she knew others could do so in her place.

Starting with Tess, the young woman she had met in the mental health facility. From the brief conversation they had shared Rebecca had known immediately that the woman knew about plants and gardening. After arranging a few details with Joey, and having Dr. Everett speak with Tess about it, the new hospital garden project had begun, using the plans Rebecca had already laid out. She had learned from Dr. Everett that Tess was a young witch who was letting anger overwhelm, disrupt and distort her powers. Rebecca immediately thought of Xander and knew she would do whatever she could for the young witch to keep her fate from turning out the same as Xander’s.

Although Tess’ anger issues had interfered in the beginning, creating some obstacles that slowed its progress, working on the health care’s garden had eventually worked its magic on the young woman. And according to Dr. Everett Tess was learning to control her anger better and finding peace in the garden she was slowly but surely creating.

Rebecca saw this for herself as she took time each week to visit the mental health facility. She would praise Tess each and every time on the progress she had made. At first the young woman had simply ignored her or shrugged the compliments off. But little by little that was changing. Tess had started smiling and talking to Rebecca more and more—about the garden as well as other things.

  They were becoming friends.

Tess was becoming an eternal gardener, just as Rebecca was and always would be. And despite her obligations, Rebecca still found time to work in her own gardens, and watched happily as they blossomed and flourished with life and love. Her gardens proved a peaceful asylum from what had now become her hectic and busy life.

Yet despite it all, despite the fact that her life was now filled with learning, responsibility for others, obligations and a constant demand for her powers, she also felt so lucky to hold that gift which was most important to her.

  Love.

Her mate’s love. Jason’s love. Like a warm blanket that protected her from the sometimes harsh realities of life, she had a caring, intense, strong and sexy gargoyle around to help her keep perspective, give her a shoulder to cry on and take her mind off her troubles by making wonderfully passionate love to her.

He was her best friend. Her protector. And her lover.

  And now they were married.

As Jason took her hand in his, she doubted that any witch could be happier than her. Rebecca’s heart was filled with love and light. Smiling from ear to ear, she walked beside her soul mate, through the doors and out into the mild spring evening.

It was time to celebrate their marriage with friends and family.

It was time to celebrate life.

And so, the dark and dangerous gargoyle and the light and laughter witch lived happily ever after.
