She beamed and nodded. “I’d love to go to lunch with you.”
Allowing him to help her stand, she wrapped her arms around his neck. “God, I’ve missed you,” she murmured as they lips met. Mac wrapped his left arm around her waist and his right around her back, pulling her in tighter as he deepened their kiss.
Katie pulled back suddenly. “You’re my boss.” Her eyes were wide.
Mac nodded. “That’s technically correct.”
She considered this for a moment. “It this a problem?”
“Not for me,” he replied, capturing her lips with his once again.
When he released her, she grabbed her bag and keys and they left her classroom, hand in hand. Stopping in the office, he stuck his head in Dottie’s doorway. “We’re going to lunch. I’ll be back for those interviews.”
Katie noticed several raised eyebrows as Mac helped her into the passenger seat of his Jeep.
As he sat in the driver’s seat and buckled his seatbelt, she turned to him. “This is going to be complicated.”
He chuckled. “You’re a redhead. I figure it comes with the territory.”
