Q/ Describe what it was like to write these books.

A/ The only military experience I have is a year I spent in the Army ROTC. It gave me a great respect for the military and its soldiers, but I quickly realized I would have made a pretty awful soldier. I recently got to test out a friend’s arsenal of firearms, including a combat shotgun, an AR-15 rifle, and a Barrett M82 sniper rifle. We got to blow apart an old fax machine.

Q/ What is your favorite book, movie, and game?

A/ My favorite book of all time is Don Quixote. It’s crazy and it makes me laugh. My favorite movie is either Casablanca or Double Indemnity, old black-and-white movies made before I was born. My favorite game, hands down, is Skyrim, in which you play a heroic dragonslayer. But not even Skyrim can keep me from writing more Shadow Squadron stories, so you won’t have to wait long to read more about Ryan Cross and his team. That’s a promise.
