Love Found a Way (Hell Yeah! Book 0) Page 11

by Sable Hunter

“Miss Ethel used to be married to Reverend Ike Watson. What’s her address? I’m sure she doesn’t live in the parsonage anymore.”

Glory read it off and T slowed, then turned around.

“Thank you, T.” Glory put the things back in the purse, then clutched it with a satisfied smile on her face. After a few miles, she glanced at him. “You didn’t have anything else to do, did you?”

  “Not until later.”

“Oh, okay.” Glory hoped he wasn’t perturbed with her. “T?”

“Yes.” He was trying to keep his eyes on the road and off her sexy legs. She’d worn this orange, eyelet sundress. If he had to describe it to someone, it would’ve sounded like a little girl’s Easter dress. But on her…it looked cute as hell. She had a soft golden tan and her hair did its own thing, an unruly mass of curls that he longed to sink his fingers into and hold her still while he kissed those rosebud lips. “Shit.”

  “What?”

“Nothing. What were you going to say?”

“You’re being very nice to me. I appreciate you.” She turned sideways, as far as the seatbelt would allow, tucking her left leg under her bottom. “I know I can be a pain sometimes.”

“Why don’t you practice not being a pain?”

“I guess I could do that.” She tapped the toe of her right foot on the floorboard fast, like she was thinking. “What will you give me?”

“What will I give you for what?”

Glory giggled, then she spoke slowly. “What will you give me if I try to be a little less of a pain?”

T rolled his eyes. “I’ll tell you what I won’t give you…a spanking.”

“Shucks. I’ve always wanted one, an erotic one I mean.” She leaned forward. “Have you ever…?”

Feeling like he was choking, T-Rex cleared his throat. “No, I haven’t.” He’d kept himself on such a tight leash, he’d never done a lot of things he’d imagined doing to a woman.

“Would you like to?” Glory lifted her eyebrows, waiting for an answer.

  “Are you volunteering?”

  “Heck, yeah!”

He put on his blinker. “Time to stop the teasing, we’re here.”

“Oh, lord.” She placed a hand on her forehead.

“What’s wrong, now?” She was making him dizzy.

“I’m about to go in and see a little preacher’s widow, I’m trying to get the vision of me spread over your lap naked, with my bare bottom in the air…and you…”

Great. Now, he had the same image in his head. “Go in, Glory Bee!”

She gave him a shy grin, then bounced out. His hungry eyes followed her all the way to the woman’s front door. It didn’t surprise him that she was welcomed in with open arms. He whistled, thumped his fingers on the steering wheel, and even turned on the engine so he could listen to the radio. After ten minutes, he finally saw her come out, with both hands full of cupcakes. He leaned over to open the door for her.

“Now, you have something sweet besides pralines.” Holding a cupcake to his mouth, she offered him a lick. “And me.”

T couldn’t resist, or argue. He swirled his tongue in the icing, wishing he had her naked in his lap and the frosting was adorning her nipples.

  “Good?”

  “Yea. More.”

She smiled, unwrapped it and held it while he took a bite. Following his lead, she took a bite too.

T was enchanted by the smudge of sugary frosting on her lip. “Come here.”

Glory held the cupcake back to his lips, thinking that was what he was requesting.

  “You, you come here.”

Glory put down the box and purred a little purr. Leaning over, she joined their mouths, giving his lips tiny little laps and licks. He growled, caught the back of her head and kissed her hard.

In absolute heaven, Glory felt around blindly until she could set the cupcake down on the dashboard neatly. Being careful not to break their connection, she slipped over in his lap.

“If you don’t quit wiggling around, you’re going to break something.”

Feeling beneath her, she found his cock. “I sure don’t want to break this; I plan on needing it later.”

Her touch to his cock, woke T up to the fact of where they were and what they were doing. “You need to go back to your side.” He tried to pick her up, but just succeeded in shifting her bottom to the horn.

A loud blast caused them both to jump. Glory squealed, but then decided to take one last advantage of her position. She framed his face and kissed him the way she’d been dreaming about – long, deep, and passionate. The whole time, neither of them noticed the horn was still blaring.

“Yoo-hoo! What’s wrong?” Ms. Ethel called from her front porch. “T-Rex Beaumont, is that you?”

“Dang it,” Glory muttered as she broke away and laid her forehead against his, pulling her bottom forward off the horn, which forced her feminine parts to grind against his swollen package. “One of these days, you’re going to stop running from me, T-Rex Beaumont.”

T Rex was too revved up to argue.

Rolling down his window, he called out to the old lady. “Yes, ma’am. I apologize.”

Glory laughed. “I have a job weeding her flower beds next week. I’m sure I’ll hear about this.”

T didn’t laugh, his dick was so hard, it ached. He drove all the way to the bait shop without saying a word. Glory seemed content to finish her cupcake and talk randomly about whatever they were passing.

When they pulled up to the bait shop, she took one look and exclaimed, “Oh, no!”

T followed her gaze, seeing what she saw. The front door was standing open, half off its hinges. “Hell, what now?” He got out. “Stay here,” he ordered.

Glory watched anxiously as he entered the building. She opened the door and stood on the running board, peering over the top of his truck. “What’s wrong? Are you all right?” She waited a few more seconds. “Speak to me, T!”

T came out, looking concerned. “Somebody broke in. Did you have any money? The register is open.”

“Not much, less than fifty dollars.” She joined him, her heart sick when she saw everything was trashed and torn up. “What were they looking for?”

He felt bad for her. “I don’t know, something to hock, I imagine. I called the sheriff, he’ll be here pretty quick, he was just down the road giving a ticket.” T checked his watch, then looked out the window.

“Oh, my goodness!” Glory exclaimed when she checked the small room where she’d been sleeping. “Everything is a mess in here!”

“I don’t see a bed at all. Did the thief take it, or have you been sleeping on the floor?”

She sensed his disapproval. “I’ve been sleeping on a pallet, not on the floor.”

“Dammit!” T didn’t like this at all.

Glory felt the necessity to defend her actions. “I’ve been okay.”

T just shook his head, seeing a big wood roach running across the floor. “That’s debatable.”

In a few minutes, a cop car pulled up and Glory joined them in walking through the shop. “I can’t see anything missing except the few dollars I had in the register,” she admitted. “Maybe a few quarts of oil. I’m just glad they didn’t unplug the bait boxes.”

“And your things have been pilfered through.” T noted as Sheriff Carroll gazed around the small shop. “Don’t forget that.”

“I didn’t really have anything worth stealing,” Glory muttered, totally embarrassed for T and the sheriff to see her meager pile of undies and other garments. She could clearly see that several pairs had been stripped from a makeshift clothesline she’d strung, including the pink pair with the black bows.

T raked his hand through his hair. “I don’t think that was the point.”

Glory still looked puzzled, but she filled out the necessary paperwork, promising to call a locksmith as soon as possible. In the meantime, T-Rex nailed the hinge back on and put a cheap lock on the door that he’d had in his toolbox,
giving Glory the key. They followed the sheriff to his car and as soon as he was gone, T narrowed his gaze and faced Glory. “Tell me something, did the thief take some of your…” He waved his hand in the air. “Lingerie?”

Glory felt a blush rush up her cheeks. “Yes. A few pair of panties.”

T felt his own face grow hot. “That pink pair with the black bows?”

  Gulp. “Yes.”

  T-Rex cursed. Dubois, he thought.

“At least the thief won’t be back.” Glory moved toward T’s truck.

“Why do you say that?” He followed her.

Glory let out a huff and a small giggle. “Because they know now there’s no reason to come back. Nothing worth anything here.”

T shook his head. The woman was so naïve. “What do you think you’re doing?” he asked when he realized she was taking her belongings from the back.

  “I’m home. I’m going in.”

He came around and started taking things from her arms and putting them back where she’d gotten them.

  “Hey!”

“There’s no way in hell you’re staying here tonight, Glory Bee. You’re going home with me.”

  CHAPTER SIX

Glory opened her mouth in surprise, then her face broke out into a huge smile. “I’m going home with you?”

T-Rex dry-scrubbed his face. “No need to act so happy about it. Nothing’s going to happen. I’m just being a good neighbor.”

“Spoil-sport.” She quickly packed a small bag, then climbed back into the cab of the truck and was very still while he fastened her seatbelt. Glory didn’t make a big deal about it, she wasn’t even sure he realized he did it.

  No use spooking the prey.

“I appreciate you letting me stay with you tonight, T. I didn’t expect this.”

“No problem.” What was he saying? This was a problem. Definitely. Having her close, and wanting her as much as he did, was like leaving a firecracker next to an open flame. He started the truck and headed home, his mind searching for a solution. If she were near, he’d succumb to the temptation to give her what she was always asking for, he knew he would. She’d made no bones about welcoming his advances, and knowing she desired him – just turned T inside out. If he gave in and had sex with her, all his careful living, all his disciplined deprivation would go to hell in a handbasket. Things might be different if Glory was the type of girl you used for a one-night stand – maybe.

  But she wasn’t.

He’d been around her enough to know that Glory reserved her sexy repertoire exclusively for him. Lucky him. So, what was he going to do? Make her sleep on the porch? On the dock?

  Hell, he had it!

“You’ll be sleeping on my houseboat.”

Glory pooched her lips. “Your houseboat? Will you be staying with me?”

“No.” He shook his head, his eyes focused on the road in front of him. If he looked at her, he’d be weak. T could still remember how she’d felt cuddled up to him. Her body so soft and warm. Her breasts so tender and round. Her lips… “No, I won’t be staying on the houseboat with you. I’ll be in my house. In my room.” With the door locked. “You’ll be fine. I won’t be far. If you have any trouble, I’m within shouting distance. And the cabin on the boat has a good lock on it. So, you’ll be safe and sound.”

Great, Glory thought. I’ll sleepwalk off the side of the boat, fall into the bayou, and drown. She didn’t say anything, though. Obviously, he didn’t want her anywhere near to him. He was being nice, but he was assuring she was as far away from him as possible. “Okay. I’m sure it will be perfect. Thank you, T-Rex.”

“Don’t mention it.” When they drove up and parked under a big oak, Buford came running to meet them. She loved watching T with the dog, he was so gentle with the animal.

“All right, Glory Bee, let me show you to your quarters.” He helped her gather her dirty dishes. “You’ll find the cabin has a nice galley. There’s dishwashing liquid and anything else you might need in there. Just make yourself at home.”

“Okay.” With her arms loaded, she followed him down the hill and onto a small dock. “This is gorgeous.” Glory was enthralled. “I’ve never been on a houseboat before.” With unmitigated delight, she raced onboard and began investigating every nook and cranny. “Can I sleep in the bed?”

“No,” he answered dryly, “I want you to sleep on the floor.”

She glanced at him in surprise, then noticed his sarcastic expression. “You’re funny.” After setting her dishes on the counter, she returned on deck where T waited. “I will pay you back,” she informed him seriously. “With food, good deeds, sex – or a combination there of.”

T groaned. “Stop it.” He was serious. “I’ve told you a dozen times, sex isn’t going to happen between us.”

Glory found herself wanting to whine, but why, but she refrained. “So, you said.” For a few seconds, she tried to step into his shoes. Maybe she wasn’t being fair. Shrugging, she tried to see his side of things. “I get it. I’m not a big temptation.” She looked down at herself. “I don’t have a centerfold body. My background is questionable. And there’s the whole thing with my immigration status.”

“Your what?” How did she do this? Keep pushing his buttons and making him want to spank her ass one minute and smother her with kisses the next. “I thought you were born and raised in Baton Rouge – in a laboratory. Isn’t that what you said?”

She grinned at him. “Have to keep you guessing. I’m really an illegal Canadian immigrant, crossed the border at Climax, Saskatchewan and made a run for it in the wilds of Montana.”

He couldn’t help but smile. “What are you doing? That’s not even a convincing lie.”

“Not supposed to be, that’s what you call a whopper, it’s designed to distract you away from an important truth.”

“I see.” This was interesting. He rested, sitting part-way on the railing. “And what important truth are you trying to distract me from?”

She shrugged and gave him a glimpse of a truth, but just a glimpse. “The truth is that I understand why you feel the way you do. I have faults that completely justify your feelings.” After dropping her little bomb, she wheeled around and went to the railing a few feet down from him, staring down into the dark green water.

“As for all those things you just said, none of them are the issue.” He couldn’t let her think she was less than what she should be. “You don’t know me; you don’t know my background – what I’m capable of doing and not doing.” He stared hard at Glory, sweet Glory. “The problem isn’t you. I’m the problem.”

“We’ve had this conversation before,” she said evenly, watching a fish swimming right beneath the surface.

“Yes, we have. I hope this time what I’m saying sinks in. You’re a nice girl, you’re a beautiful girl but…I’m not the man for you.” He stood up, taking some keys from his pocket. “Make yourself at home.” T handed her a key. “This fits the doors, lock up when you go in.”

“Thank you.” Glory accepted the small cool piece of metal. “Can I start it up with this key?”

He chuckled and shook his head. “No. You don’t need to leave this dock.” He pointed up at the house. “I’ll be right up there, just a few yards away. If you need anything, yell. I’ll hear you.”

She nodded. “Could Buford stay with me?”

“Sure, if he wants to.” The dog had come aboard and was sitting about midway between them.

Glory patted her knee. “Hey, boy. You wanna sleep with me tonight?”

With a wag of Buford’s tail, he looked to his master for permission. He gave it with a nod.

T knew it was dumb to envy his dog, but he did.

“All right, I’ll leave you two to it.” He wagged his finger at her. “I want you to sleep here until you make other arrangements. No more sleeping on the floor in the back of the bait shop.”

Glory didn’t answer. She knelt by Buford as they watched T-Rex leave, climb the bank and bound
up the stairs to his house, two at a time. “I don’t have anywhere to go, Buford.” She stood up. “Oh, well. I’ll think of something. I always do.”

Up in his house, T stood at the window, watching Glory and his dog play on the deck of the houseboat. He ignored the longing he had to join them. At least tonight, he could keep a watchful eye from the comfort of his own home.

  *

Bright and early the next morning T headed out to his truck. He intended to give Glory a ride to the bait shop on his way to work. Knowing she slept safely locked inside the houseboat, (he’d checked, by the way) T had slept a little better. Even at that, he didn’t want her walking down the road alone, not after she’d landed in Jimmy Dubois sights.

At first, he blew his horn. Tap! Tap!

When she didn’t come bounding out of the boat cabin, he got worried and went down to check. Finding no one there, he banged his fist on the door facing. “Hell, she’s already left on foot.”

Sprinting to his truck, he jumped in and gunned it down the road. He hadn’t gone much more than a mile before he saw her, making her way merrily along, wearing a cream-colored sundress, a blue jean jacket, and carrying her cowboy boots and a bunch of purple wildflowers. He pulled up next to her. “Get in.”

“I’m good. You’d have to go out of your way to give me a ride.” She gave him a wink and continued to eat a cherry Fruit Roll-up.

“Get in.” T insisted. When she hesitated, he held up something wrapped in a napkin. “I have a homemade, sausage biscuit sandwich for you.”

He saw her eyes widen and her lips part. “Okay.” She came around the front of his truck and joined him in the cab. “Unlike you, I can be bribed.”

T-Rex closed his eyes briefly. The woman had no idea what this was costing him – having her around, aching to bury himself inside of her, hungry to share his life as well as his body with someone who would love only him. Only to deprive himself, turn her away when all he wanted to do was pull her close. “You need to work on self-discipline.” T handed her the breakfast sandwich, then became even further aroused watching her eat it. “What’s with you? You enjoy every second, and everything you do to the fullest, don’t you?”
