The Haunting of the Gemini Page 24

Eddie frequently urged me to look through his eyes, to become his other half. One can’t truly know unless one sees through another’s eyes.

In the same package as the mask, Eddie also sent the bandana that he’d worn out on the streets.

When I tried on Eddie’s mask, my right eye began bleeding from the tear duct.

Will and me with the box where I stored all of Eddie’s letters, the mask, and the bandana.

Another photo Eddie sent me of himself. He does not appear to have aged at all in the more than fifteen years he has been in prison.

Eddie loves codes and sends me different ones, asking if I can solve them.

Eddie’s bloodlust has not dimmed at all since his days stalking New Yorkers. Now, however, his focus is on me.

A reflection of the drawing my friend Maria DiNaso was given in a gas station bathroom during our drive to Great Meadow Correctional Facility in upstate New York.

  A close-up of the drawing.
