Teegan pounded her fingers expertly in and out while licking and sucking around and around Georgie’s clit. She knew Georgie’s sensitivities well and knew how to get her ready to explode. Teegan switched to long strokes with her tongue, flat, lightly hitting Georgie’s sweet spot.

Georgie’s orgasm started where is always did, low and warm. Teegan thrust her fingers in and while inside, she gave them a little shake.

“God that’s good,” Georgie moaned again.

Teegan kept up the long licks and Georgie’s orgasm spread up into her pussy and suddenly it hit her clit with a force she had not felt in a long, long time. She screamed, shuddered, and moaned, tears streaming down her face, a mass of confusion overwhelming her.

Georgie lay panting. “God, Teegan, I have not come that intensely since the last time you fucked me.” Georgie lay back on the pillow, breathing hard.

Teegan crawled back up and kissed Georgie, sweetly and gently. Teegan chuckled and kissed her again. “Oh my sweet Georgie. That was all for you. I want you to go back to sleep now and get your rest. You can do me tomorrow. And after you make me come, I will tell you all about what is going on.”

“And where you were that you got here so soon?”

“I was close by, my dear. Tomorrow I will tell you everything. Sleep now. I will hold you all night. I’ve missed you.”

Too exhausted and shocked to think clearly, Georgie fell into dreamless sleep.

  Chapter 3:

Twenty-Four Hours to Get the Show on the Road

It was bright in the bedroom, as she came awake. Sitting up quickly in bed, Georgie looked at the clock, which read six ten. I didn’t set the alarm. I’m already getting a late start. Then the events of last night came flooding back to her, jolting her to full clarity—Teegan’s note, her middle-of-the-night orgasm. Oh my God. Just as she was thinking about all of that, Teegan walked into the room carrying a big cup of steaming coffee and held it out.

“Good morning dear Georgie. Here is your coffee, and your breakfast will be done in a couple of minutes. Hop in the shower—you have a very busy schedule today. And while you’re in the shower, think about the tasks you need me to take over for you. I’m at your command.”

She flashed a grin and Georgie caught the innuendo. “You looked tired, Teegs. I’m sorry things aren’t working out for you and Celeste. But, I’m happy to see you and thank you for the, uh, surprise last night. Thank you, too, for the coffee and for the offer to help. I know that you know today is the craziest day before the trials. May I propose that we find some real quality time later on this evening, after dinner so that we can talk?”

Teegan nodded slowly. “I guess so.” She sounded sullen and unwilling, then turned to leave the bedroom. “Your bacon, egg, and cheese on rye toast with mayo will be done by the time you get out of the shower. It’s a big weekend for you and Freddie. You need nourishment.” With that she turned and walked back to the kitchen.

Oh God. Freddie. Freddie strongly dislikes Teegan, doesn’t trust her and will not be happy that she is here. Crap. What am I going to do about this? Well, I can’t hide Teegan all weekend. She’s here and Freddie will see her riding Bonnie. She rose from the bed and went to the shower. She remembered my favorite breakfast sandwich. How sweet. As she dried off, in her mind, she heard Freddie accusingly saying, “She’s on the rebound, Georgie. She will use you and break your heart again. Don’t fall for it.”

Georgie quickly dressed, grabbed the laptop, phone, and the coffee cup, and headed to the kitchen. Bear and Tex were chewing bones, and Teegan was standing at the sink looking out the window. She turned and walked toward Georgie, holding out her arms. She hugged Teegan close.

“I really am glad you are here. We can talk the entire thing out later today, okay?”

Teegan nodded without enthusiasm, and tears began to form in her eyes. She broke away and got busy with the food. “Here, give me your cup and sit down. The sandwich is ready, and I’ll get you more coffee.”

Georgie sat at the table and glanced at the phone—Osvaldo, the caterer, two of the pros, a call from Mack, and one from Freddie. Mack’s voice mail said they were running late and would get to the barn by seven. Okay, that meant she had a few minutes to spare. She rang Osvaldo and left a message that he should start moving jumps up into the field near the cabin. Both pro riders left messages that they were on their way and would be here by early afternoon and that there was no need to return the calls. Biting into the sandwich, Georgie thought about how to break it to Freddie that Teegan was there, and staying with her, and riding Bonnie, and dissolving her relationship—business and personal—with Celeste.

Teegan was looking out the window and drinking coffee, when she suddenly put the cup down on the counter and strode out of the room. Deciding that, in her emotional state, she would let Teegan be, Georgie took another sip of her coffee and savored the strong black brew. At that moment, the back door opened, and Freddie breezed in, hair flying everywhere and looking young and vibrant and really beautiful. She had chosen jeans, a cream-colored turtleneck, and a navy sweater, perfect for the weather and for her coloring. Her curly strawberry-blonde hair was pulled back into a ponytail, making her look years younger than she really was.

“Good morning, partner! A beautiful day, isn’t it? We have lots of tasks already done, and the show support team is up at the field getting the registration booth and the announcing booth ready. The kids are on their way and will help with the course. I’m planning to go back up to the cabin and supervise the caterer. I want her to have all of the beverages and snacks, as well as the lunch totes, ready to go up there by two this afternoon. The totes will be filled with chips, a cookie, and two apples. That’s one for the person and one for the horse. All she will have to do is drop the sandwiches in tomorrow morning.” She glanced at the half-eaten breakfast sandwich and said, “Well that’s pretty ambitious for you to make on a day like today.”

In a small voice from the far side of the kitchen someone said, “I made it for her.”

Georgie could see the recognition on Freddie’s face. That changed to pain and then to something she had never seen in her eyes before. Hurt? Jealousy? Fear? Georgie wasn’t sure.

Teegan stepped forward, holding her arms out, “Freddie, how wonderful to see you.”

Freddie regained her composure quickly and hugged Teegan back. “When did you get here? This is a surprise!” Then to Georgie, Freddie said, “Did you know she was coming?” It was clearly an accusation.

Teegan shifted from foot to foot, uncomfortable with the tone in Freddie’s voice. “No, I e-mailed Georgie last night in desperation. Celeste and I are parting ways, and I had to come back to the States to get myself organized for the next phase of my life. I knew the trials were this weekend, so I begged for an invitation and a place to stay.”

There was silence in the kitchen except for the sounds of Bear and Tex chomping on their plastic bones. All three were furiously thinking about what to say next when Mack and Brock bounded in, looking happy and breathless.

Mack skipped over to Teegan and hugged her. “Teegan! Wow, we didn’t know you were coming!”

Teegan laughed as she hugged them. “Neither did I, but I’m here and can’t wait to watch you both ride tomorrow.”

A phone rang. It was Freddie’s this time, and she answered it. “Yes. Sure, Pat. I’ll be right up.” She picked up her tote bag. “Okay, gotta get a move on. The caterer is at the cabin, so I’m going to supervise. I’ll also ensure that the registration and announcing booths are ready. I expect I’ll see you all up there for jump placement. Shall we say, eleven? I already packed lunch, so I’ll take that with me now. There is plenty, so no worries for you, Teegan. See you all up there in a bit.” With that, she turned and walked out of the house.

Georgie realized that Freddie just sent a little warning arrow straight at Teegan—”I am watching you.” Yikes. The last thing I need is more tension between those two. Crap. I need to fix that, and fas
t.

Brock and Mack said they needed to go check on the horses, the grooming and the tack. Brock grabbed an apple and asked, “What time do you want to run the course, Aunt Georgie? Three?”

“Yeah, that makes sense. We can finish the placement, walk it, have lunch, and then ride it. Three is good.”

“Not much has changed, has it, Georgie? Freddie is still beautiful, her kids are gorgeous and probably as smart as she is and they all obviously adore you.”

“Well, actually a lot has changed. It’s all below the surface, very subtle. But we’re all good. Still close, still happy in each other’s company. But, let’s talk about that stuff later. Are you okay? Are you sure you feel like hard work today and a harder ride later?”

“Yes, absolutely. I have not ridden in a week, and Bonnie and a tough course are just what I need. Well, it’s not the only thing I need. I need you loving me. But, right now, I will get dressed and meet you in the barn.”

It looked to Georgie as though hundreds of people were running around, very busily transforming the farm into a festival. She knew it wasn’t actually hundreds as that would be tomorrow’s numbers. But today seemed inordinately busy. She saw the big banner up as she walked to her truck—”Welcome to the 20th Annual Honor Creek Farm Hunter-Jumper Trials.” For her, this is always the symbol of the weekend. The banner had been Dash’s idea and really added to the festive air on the farm.

Georgie straightened up and stood taller, going into judge mode. “Okay, we’re all here. Now, pay close attention. The objective with walking the course is the check the placement of the jumps and to identify and fix any safety issues.. After that, lunch and a quick ride for Brock and Mack.

Everyone set about his or her jobs. As Georgie had anticipated, as soon as she and Freddie were out of earshot of Teegan, Freddie let loose.

“What the fuck, George? She just shows up and stays in your room last night? Don’t deny that. It was painfully obvious this morning when she came out from that part of the house. Why you? Why not her sister or brother or other rider friends? Why you? Because she knew you would fuck her? Like she needs to ride in this particular show? Please. I don’t like this one bit. She will bring you down and that is not something I can bear—again.”

“Look, Freddie.” Georgie took a deep breath and frowned, looking at the ground. “I’m just as concerned as you are. And I haven’t gotten any of the story yet. She got here very early this morning, so I’m as in the dark about all the whys and why-nots as you are. But please understand, I’m not going to get myself into the same place I was before. I promise you. It was too hard on all of us. Trust me.” The last thing she wanted to do was to admit that the sex was fabulous, despite all the crap.

While she stood and looked at the course, Georgie’s brain went into overdrive. Tonight, Teegan will be in my bed. She reignited something in me last night. It’s been three years since the night she gave me the bracelet, kissed me one last time and walked away. Oh sure, we did business together, traded horses. I coached her a bit for a big show, but we had not been together—until last night when she showed up, came into my house and fucked me back to sleep.

Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of pounding hooves. Brock came up the hill on his horse, paused at the top, and then attacked the steep hill with skill and evident enthusiasm. He navigated the slope and the obstacles, easily, weaving in and out and picking up a strong gallop as he went toward the track. She yelled, “Nicely done, Brock. Okay, Mack, pick it up!”

Mack rode the course with no major faults.

  “Beautiful, Mackie. Good job!”

Teegan began her ride. Georgie could not take her eyes off her. Her seat was perfect, her hands unmoving. Her head was lifted, and she looked directly at her target—the next jump, the next corner. She could barely see Teegan breathing. She seemed so calm and in control. She did not pause as others had done at the top of the hill—she wheeled Bonnie around and drove her back down, urging her over every obstacle. Georgie could see Teegan talking to Bonnie but could not really understand what she was saying. They galloped into the ring, jumped the last obstacles, and settled back into a perfect extended trot for the courtesy circle and stopped perfectly square, with Teegan making a high salute in Georgie’s direction. If I could have had a hard-on, I would have. Man, that girl is hot. Oh, crap. Quit it, George. She admonished herself harshly. You’re an idiot. And out of control.

Teegan jumped down off Bonnie and handed her to the barn hand who was waiting for her. Georgie watched Teegan staring after the tall, sweaty horse. Her small body was rigid with tension. Her hands were open in supplication, outstretched toward Bonnie.

That’s an odd physical posture for Teegan to be in. It feels like she’s grasping towards my horse. Georgie shook it off. Crap. Everything has felt so weird for the past forty-eight hours. I’m chalking it up to my jumbled mind. I have too damned much stuff going on.

Brock and Mack finished their courses, and Teegan and Georgie gave them both pointers. Georgie looked at Mack and Brock in turn. “Nice work out there. You can go back and get ready for dinner. Teegan and I will be down in a minute.”

Georgie looked over at Teegan. “Come on. One more check of the cabin, and then we can head down to the barn and dinner.”

Osvaldo had not started the big fire yet, so there was still a slight chill in the cabin. He and one of the guys would come up and do it, probably after dinner and would stay with it all night, both for safety as well as to ensure the cabin was warm and toasty in the morning.

They stepped inside, and Teegan put her arms around Georgie’s waist. “I recall this as a very special place for us. Ummm. Let me kiss you.”

She turned toward Georgie and gently kissed her bottom lip, sucking it into her mouth. Her hands slid down Georgie’s body, and she around to grab Georgie’s ass. She pulled Georgie closer, licking her lips with her tongue. They kissed gently at first, their tongues exploring. Their breathing was becoming more ragged. In the back of her mind, Georgie was beginning to feel uneasy—so many people could be coming into the cabin for so many reasons today. Too much history.

“Teeg, stop. We can’t do this here right now. I’m expected at the barn. If I’m not there on time, I’ll be missed. Trust me on this one. I promise you, after dinner when everyone leaves, we will have alone time.”

Teegan dropped her hands from Georgie and stepped back. “Well, you have certainly turned into a regular, up-tight citizen, haven’t you? Not so long ago you would have ripped my pants off and sucked me dry on the floor. In fact, I recall that you did. What’s different?”

“A lot has changed, Teegan. You left. I moved on. You moved on. I have a responsibility in the community for this event, for my practice, and in the horse community for my judging. I’m not a kid any more. I’ve lost a husband. I run a business. You left me, remember? You can’t expect me to just fall to my knees for you.”

Teegan wilted, dropping her head. She stared at the wooden planks in the floor. “Look, I’m sorry. I’m still a bit wrought up about Celeste and about beautiful Bonnie, who I never should have sold to you. She’s magnificent. You’re right. Let’s go down to the barn and we’ll regroup. I’m fine. I’m okay.”

Georgie took one last look around the cabin and walked out to the truck. Neither of them spoke on the bumpy ride down the hill.

  * * * *

After the group dinner, while people were cleaning up and departing, Georgie stole a look at Teegan standing against a wall as far away as she could possibly be. How could we have made this all so complicated already? She hasn’t even been here twenty-four hours. Yikes. It seems like she is avoiding me, staying away so I won’t ask her about all of her troubles.

Georgie stood in the living room of her house. The roaring fire reflected against the shiny wood of the furniture and the many silver award pieces that decorated the room. Georgie placed herself next to a shining rosewood table and stroked a large sterling silver horse statue of Man O’ War, the
famous Thoroughbred of the 1920s.

“Has everyone gotten their room straight? You have towels and all those necessary things?” There was lots of vigorous nodding. “Good. And your horses are settled?” More positive nodding.

“Okay, folks. I need my sleep. I suggest that you do too. I’m going to let the dogs out. I won’t set the alarm tonight in case you feel the need to go out in the middle of the night. Goodnight. See you at six a.m. Coffee will be on!”

Georgie looked across the room, expecting to see Teegan eager to go to bed and finally have their talk. But Teegan and Misty, one of the pros, were gone. Georgie called to the dogs and went with them outside. She noticed lights on in the barn and walked in to turn out the lights. She heard Misty say, “She is fabulous. I am glad that you will ride her tomorrow, and I hope you get her back.”

“Hey, ladies, it is late for the horses and you, too. Let’s get to bed.”

Tex ran over to snuffle under Bonnie’s stall door. Bonnie dropped her head to sniff back.

“Ooh, isn’t that cute. They love each other!” Misty said.

Georgie had no patience. “Yeah. Okay. Lights out.”

Teegan still had said nothing. Georgie was trying to read her. What was going on with Teegan and Misty? With Teegan and Bonnie? Georgie didn’t trust Misty. She had a bad reputation on the circuit for being a busybody, nasty, and arrogant. She had yet to win anything major, and most of the folks Georgie knew thought she was overrated.

She started thinking of Teegan again. Is she still coming to my room, or will she really take a couch? After last night, I want her in my bed. After that comment from Misty and no counter comment from Teegan, I kind of want her on the couch. Yikes. I do not have time for this kind of crap tonight. All I want is sleep. That is all. Call me selfish, but that’s it. Georgie stalked back to the house, followed by two golden retrievers and two world-class jumpers. My life is freakin’ weird.

Georgie settled the dogs, grabbed a glass of water, went into the bedroom, and closed the door. If Teegan wants in, she can damned well turn the knob. She cleaned up, brushed her teeth, and stripped down naked. You never know, and tonight, I really don’t know.
