Husband Needed Page 17

“Maybe you could teach me some of those fancy knots. Who knows, I might get creative and want to experiment with tying you to the headboard of the bed.”

By now she’d led him into their bedroom. Bright-colored scarves were draped over the lamps and the headboard, lending the room an exotic look. She also had some kind of bright material draped over the windows, while jewel-colored pillows were strewn across the floor, their brilliance enhanced by the burgundy silk bottom sheet. None of this had been here when he’d left for work.

Jack looked around in disbelief and awe. “What is this, a harem?”

“That was the general idea, yes. That’s why there was a trail of tons of candles in the hallway, which I’ll have you know I lit with plain matches, not safety matches. Well, I lit most of them that way.”

  “You had all this planned?”

“Except for the fire department arriving,” she ruefully replied. “There’s only one firefighter I’m interested in. And I’m interested in seeing more of him,” she added, unbuttoning first his shirt and then reaching for the zipper on his jeans. “A lot more of him.”

When their clothing was gone, Jack was still murmuring, “I can’t believe this.”

“Believe it. Okay, now stretch out on the bed. No wait, I still don’t know how to tie those knots yet. You have to show me...”

Tumbling her down onto the bed bedside him, Jack flashed her a grin worthy of any roguish knight. “I’ve got plenty to show you, princess. Right here...”

He guided her fingers to his fully aroused body where she was distracted from her original plan by the feel of him, taut and velvety strong, in her hand.

The need to be close, to be as one, was overwhelming. Kissing her once again, Jack growled his pleasure as she caressed him. The brush of his chest hair against her nipples was a delicious torment, making her want more.

Jack gave it to her, his hands doing more giving than taking, his lips more adoring than provoking. He caressed every secret, intimate, sensitive part of her body. The soft assault drenched her in joy.

By the time he slid into her warm, slick recesses to bury himself in her, Kayla knew what it was to be cherished, to be truly loved. As he rocked against her, the blissful excitement grew, lifting her upward, expanding her universe before telescoping it inward into the most exquisite ecstasy possible. Rippling, surging, ebbing and flowing as her entire being reached, reached and then attained total satisfaction.

It took them both some time to come back to earth, and even then they basked awhile in a hazy afterglow that Kayla adored as she snuggled against her husband.

Tenderly combing his fingers through her hair, Jack murmured, “All my life I’ve been looking for something. I never knew what it was. Maybe you were what I was looking for.”

  “There’s no maybe about it.”

“No maybes,” Jack agreed, tipping up her chin to kiss her lips. “Just love.”
