“Not unless they make me.” He had to wink, because they were both thinking it, worrying about whether one of the three babies would wake up.

Dev nodded, his low chuckle sounding rueful. “We got to come, the rest of this is gravy.” Dev moved to pinch his other nipple, starting out with a fairly light touch.

“Gravy. I like it.” Aiden pushed a little harder, loving the low groan that earned him. “Of course, now I’m craving mashed potatoes. Is that weird?”

This time Dev’s laughter was more of a giggle, and there was nothing rueful about it. “Is that a euphemism?”

“If it is, I don’t want to examine it too terribly closely, honey.”

Dev’s giggles got louder and he pushed Aiden onto his back this time, letting Aiden feel his weight. Dev kissed him, hard and hungry.

“You make me so happy,” Dev whispered as their mouths parted. Dev rubbed against him, cock hard, proving just how happy he was.

“Good.” That was sort of one of his jobs. At least he wanted it to be.

Dev slid down slightly, enough to lick at his nipples. They both felt the touch of Dev’s tongue before Dev wrapped the left one in his mouth and began to suck.

Aiden arched, his eyes flying open, the pressure delicious. As Dev continued to suck, he ran his fingers along Aiden’s sides, lingering at his hips before moving up and again while coming down. The gentle touches left him almost shivering.

He was doing well to pet with clumsy strokes. You’d think he was a teenager with his first lover. Dev seemed happy enough with what he was doing, moaning around his nipple and pushing into each brush of his fingers. His own skin felt like it was burning wherever Dev touched.

He’d never been on fire quite like this—maybe it was knowing that the babies might wake up, maybe it was because it had been a while. Maybe it was that it was Dev. Regardless, it was amazing.

Dev let go of his nipple and began to lick and kiss his way down Aiden’s chest. Each rib got licked, then the muscles of his abdomen. Dev even licked his belly button, tracing his outie with a hot tongue.

“Love how your abs ripple,” Dev whispered.

Aiden started laughing. “I have abs?”

“You do! You can totally see them as well as feel them. Picking up kids must be good for your physique.” Dev pressed his lips against Aiden’s belly and blew a huge long raspberry against his skin.

The sensation shocked him, and he muffled his chuckles in his fist. Then Dev went back to licking, the sensation all the better, as if the silly raspberry had sensitized his skin. Plus there was the fact that Dev was continuing his downward journey and Aiden’s cock bumped against Dev’s chin.

  “Oh dear God.”

  “Shh. Don’t wake them up.”

He shook his head. No. No, Aiden didn’t want that.

Dev turned his attention to Aiden’s cock, licking at the tip, tongue sliding back and forth across his slit.

He shoved his fist into his mouth, his heart going ninety to nothing. His eyes felt like they were burning as he fought to see in the darkness.

Dev moved so damn slowly, first doing the rubbing-across-his-slit thing, then running his tongue around the outside of Aiden’s cockhead, then licking it from his glans up to the slit again and again. Aiden’s thighs burned, the muscles tight and hard as he fought the urge to thrust.

Finally, Dev closed his lips around Aiden’s cockhead, sucking gently at first, then with more power. Wrapping one hand around Aiden’s hip, Dev tugged, pulling more of Aiden’s cock in.

God. God, they were doing this. Dev had a mouth like an angel’s, hot and sweet and wet. Wait, were angels wet? Probably. Made sense to him.

Dev took even more in, suction good and strong while the hand on Aiden’s hip tugged and pushed, encouraging him to move.

Aiden forgot all about angels and devils and babies and anything—anything but Dev and the pressure and the pleasure. He wasn’t even sure he’d have been able to continue rocking if it hadn’t been for Dev’s hand keeping him moving. Dev’s suction was going to make him lose his mind, Dev’s tongue adding more sensation.

“Oh God, please.” Please. He was going to scream.

His words had Dev pulling even more strongly, and the fingers on his ass tightened, digging into his flesh.

He would have warned Dev he was going to come, but it was too late. He was shooting, losing it, spending into Dev’s mouth.

He couldn’t tell if Dev gagged initially or not, but he was sure that Dev hadn’t lost a single drop, Dev sucking madly and pulling the tip of Aiden’s cock into his throat a few times before he finally backed off, letting Aiden’s cock slip from his lips.

“Oh. Oh God. Fuck. You are magic.” Hopefully that was coherent.

Dev put a kiss on his cock, then his balls. Then one hip and his navel again. It was all soft and sweet, each one still managing to make him shiver, happening so soon after his orgasm.

“You… what do you need?” He wasn’t sure he could move, much less get Dev off, but he had to ask.

“I can do this.” Dev started rubbing against him, the long cock leaving a slick trail behind. Dev’s cock was so hot but also soft, like heated silk.

“God, you feel so good, honey.”

“Took the words right out of my mouth.” Dev groaned and moved faster, sliding his cock along Aiden’s belly, and even though he’d already come, it felt so good.

“So glad you’re here. Home. With me.” He was a little stupid, postorgasm.

“Oh!” Dev gasped at his words and come splashed up along Aiden’s belly, the smell of it something he’d never forget. Dev collapsed down onto him, Aiden’s whole body shuddering once before Dev’s weight settled on him.

“Hey.” He wrapped his arms around Dev and held on, sliding his fingers up and down Dev’s sweat-slick spine.

Dev nuzzled into his neck, breath warm as it wafted across his skin. “H-hey.” Placing a kiss on his neck, Dev relaxed completely against him. The weight was heavy, but not too much.

“We got to come. Twice,” Aiden noted. “And no one woke up.” It was like a miracle.

  An orgasm miracle.

“I know. I’m not entirely sure this is real. I mean, I could be dreaming.”

Dev’s smile felt good against Aiden’s skin. “I’m willing to accept that. Joint dreams with orgasms and sleeping kids are fine.”

“Uh-huh. Although I think it’s even better if it’s real.” Dev licked his collarbone. “You taste good.”

“You feel amazing in my bed.” Pillow talk wasn’t his forte, but Dev was making it easy to do.

“I love being here. It’s not even that—I love that you wanted me here.” Dev chuckled and kissed him again. “You turn me into a sap.”

“I like it. Makes me feel less like a dork.”

“You’re not a dork. Or if you are, maybe I am too.”

A cry sounded and Dev groaned. “That’s mine, isn’t it?”

“I’ll go get him.” Another nation was heard from, Bee beginning to wail. “Or we could clean up really quick and go downstairs for a snack.”

“Yeah, that sounds like a plan. U is usually up for a while at this point. And even if I can calm him down, I bet he wants to play instead of go back to sleep.” Dev gave him a quick, hard kiss and stood.

“We have some bacon I could put in the microwave for sandwiches.” He hurried to the en suite for hand towels.

“That sounds amazing. And I’ve got a bottle already prepped for U. We could put him and Bee on the floor together with one of the Fisher-Price arches.” Dev had followed him in and took one of the towels from him, dabbing at his belly. “I’ll do you and you can do me, eh?”

“As many times as possible, honey.”

They laughed for a second, then the babies protested en masse.

“Come on. Before they wake up Linds and the neighbors.” Dev gave him another kiss. “God, I love doing that.” Then Dev finally turned and headed out to grab his boy.

p; Yeah. Yeah, he did too.

  Wow.

  Chapter Ten

DEV hummed and bounced along, U against his chest in the sling. He was making snacks while Aiden dealt with the glue in Linds’s hair. Logan was going to be here any minute, and he still had the pineapple to slice.

There was a tray of egg-salad sandwiches cut like animals, a bowl of olives, crackers with cheese, and a fruit plate of strawberries, blueberries, and if he got it done before Logan and Sarah showed up, pineapple.

They were having a dinner party. Three single dads and four kids. It wasn’t a recipe for disaster. Not at all.

At least the appetizers were finger foods. For some reason, he and Aiden had decided to try deep-fried mac ’n’ cheese balls, which were ready but for the frying, and fried chicken, which was actually done in the oven, so it was sitting in there, happily—hopefully—cooking.

He got the pineapple cut and brought all the trays out to the coffee table in the living room. Then he made up a bottle for U and fed him, his little mouth working hard.

Bee was on the floor, watching him, her foot firmly stuck in her mouth.

She cracked his shit up. “Does it taste good, Lady Bee?”

She gurgled and cooed, rocking back and forth.

He laughed. “Yeah, I thought so.”

U finished his bottle and Dev got him up over his shoulder. He kept bouncing and patted U’s back. “Come on, sweetie, you need to burp or you’re going to be an unhappy baby.”

“Burp, Dylan! Burp, burp, burp!” Linds came over and kissed U right on the top of the head.

His little boy chose that exact moment to let out the mother of all burps, the sound startling even Dylan, his eyes going wide.

Dev cracked up, as did Linds, and U took his cue, cooing happily. Linds clapped and danced, singing “Good baby, good baby!” over and over.

There was so much joy in this house, and Dev didn’t want to lose it. Not for a second. He slid U back into his sling as the doorbell rang. That had to be Logan, but he couldn’t abandon the girls in the kitchen.

  “Aiden? You getting that?”

“I’m on it!” God, it was handy having one more adult.

Having this big of a dinner would have been so insane, he wouldn’t even have considered it on his own, even before he’d had U, but working with Aiden made anything seem possible. The man was all positive energy and we-can-do-ism.

He went down on his haunches and grabbed Bee, getting her settled on one hip. “Okay, Linds. Let’s go see if that’s Sarah and her daddy.”

“Sarah!” Linds went flying, and sure enough, there was Logan and his daughter.

Dev grinned as Aiden came and grabbed Bee from him.

  “Hey, Logan. How’s it going?”

“Excellent. Thanks for the invite.” Logan gave them a huge shit-eating grin.

The girls were already heading downstairs, giggling and chattering, excited.

He glanced down at U, his boy already asleep. Noise seemed to soothe U; he never had the trouble sleeping here that he’d had at the condo, and the big change was Aiden and the girls.

“How’s the littlest rug rat doing, Devon? He looks happy, healthy.”

“He’s amazing. And he loves being here. Aiden and his girls give off good vibes. He’s thri—hell, we’re both thriving here.” He grinned as they headed to the living room, where the apps were all out on the coffee table. “You want to hold him?”

“When he wakes up. He looks comfy.”

“He is. This sling thing is a revelation. Come on, sit, munch away. I think Aiden went to change Bee’s diaper or something. It felt a little heavy.” It felt a little weird playing host in Aiden’s home, but he was staying here indefinitely and sleeping in Aiden’s bed, so it probably shouldn’t seem that weird to him. It was a new thing, though.

“Probably. That man can smell a dirty diaper at one hundred paces.”

Dev laughed, but it was true, Aiden had a sixth sense. “He’s like the poster boy for single dads.”

“You should have seen him at the beginning.”

“Oh yeah?” He nudged the appetizers toward Logan. “Do tell.” He wanted to know all about Aiden.

“Well, Linds shows up first, pissed as hell—you know, kicking and screaming, acting out. His sister was still pregnant with Bee, and then there was the fact they were all living in… squalor, I guess. I mean, awful conditions.”

“He took care of it, though. Of them.” Dev looked around. The place was great for bringing up kids. And he was willing to bet Aiden had thought of most of the details, down to what schools were in the area.

“Yeah, but it wasn’t like he didn’t have some long nights, especially when Hank left.”

“I know. We’ve talked about it a little.” He grabbed one of the little sandwiches and popped it into his mouth. Damn, those were good.

“I mean that you’re doing great, and he’s proud of you.”

“Aiden’s proud of me?” He chuckled. That shouldn’t matter, should it? But it did. “Cool.” He tried for casual.

  “Indeed.”

“Hey, guys! Sorry, I was on diaper duty.”

Dev and Logan both started laughing.

  “What? What’s funny? Share!”

“I’m not sure you’d find it funny, Mr. Mom.” Logan chuckled some more.

“Mr. Mom? I will beat you both.”

“To be fair, I said poster boy for single dads,” Dev noted.

Logan put his hand on his heart. “Throw me under the bus, why don’t you?”

“You’re both turds. Give me a sandwich.”

“They’re dainty baby sandwiches with the crusts cut off.” Dev passed the tray over. Logan was still cracking up.

“Oooh, baby sandwiches! I should hold my pinkie up.” Aiden had them both laughing as he minced around the living room.

Little U woke up at the noise they were making, kicking his arms and legs to get Dev’s attention. “Hey, baby boy.”

“Is Mr. Dylan awake?” Aiden reached out to tickle U’s soft tummy.

“He sure is. And in a good mood by the looks of him.” Dev loved that, how him being awake was now a great thing. So much less crying, and he didn’t have to deal alone. God, he didn’t want to leave. Not just because of U, but because of everything and everyone, including not wanting to go back to his condo, only the two of them.

“Of course he’s in a good mood. His friend Logan is here.”

Dev slid U out of the sling and passed him over to Logan.

“So is he a Dylan now?” Logan asked.

“Yeah, he is. I still call him U, but he’s officially Dylan. Linds named him.” That was something she’d always have.

“That’s incredibly cool, man.” Logan grinned wide, looking a little goofy.

“So we’ll be looking at a name change when the adoption goes through.” He wanted it official. Even if he wound up calling Dylan U for the rest of his life, his boy would have an official normal name.

“Make sure I have that in an email all spelled out.”

“I will. Any luck in finding Terry yet?”

“Not yet. If she doesn’t want to be found, it’ll be difficult.”

“How fucked am I if we can’t find her and Mother gets a lawyer and tries to take him away?”

“You’re who Terry left Dylan with. Unless she can prove that you’re abusing him, there’s nothing she can do.”

“She would say my being gay is abuse.” He knew what she was like, how she thought.

Logan snorted. “It’s the twenty-first century.”

“And you know it’s not, right?” Aiden asked.

“Well, yeah, I know. There’s a lot of people out there who think like she does, though.”

Logan shook his head. “The law is on your side. Don’t you worry about that. I’m on it.”

“And he’s good. The best lawyer in the business.”

“You’re flattering the lawyer because his daughter’s almost old enough to
babysit.”

  “You know it.”

Dev shook his head. “Nah, you’re the man who’s going to make sure I get to keep my boy, no matter who comes for him.”

“You know it.” Logan grabbed another sandwich, laughing as Dylan tried to reach for it.

“He’s eating better too.” Dev popped another sandwich in his mouth. U was simply happier here, full stop. And so was he.

“He’s a good boy.” Aiden grabbed a bottle of red wine from the counter. “You guys want a glass?”

“You got any white?” Dev asked. “Red gives me a headache.”

“Sure, honey. In the wine fridge. Pick one that turns you on.”

“I’m not sure wine can turn me on….” He chuckled and went to the wine fridge, undoing the child lock and grabbing the first white he came across. He wasn’t a big wine drinker, and he knew that Aiden had about twelve-dollar-a-bottle taste. It worked for him.

He held the bottle up. “This one okay?” He didn’t want to accidentally grab something Aiden was saving for a special occasion. Hell, he’d be happy with a Coke, but he was thinking it was time to start acting like a grown-up. Right?

“Totally. Whichever you want. That one’s more buttery than fruity.”

“Okay, if you say so.” He gave Aiden a grin. He had to tease. “You’ll have to teach me how to be a wine snob like you.”

“Shut up.” Aiden snorted and handed him a glass that was less globe and more U-shaped. “This will make it taste better.”

“You are a wine snob!” He nearly spilled he was laughing so hard. God, he laughed with this man every single day.

“There’s a difference between a snob and knowing about wines, you butthead!” Aiden poured Logan and himself glasses of deep crimson wine.

“Sure there is.” He took a sip of his wine. “Oh this is good.”

  “Kendall-Jackson Chardonnay. That’s my favorite.”

“It’s yummy. Now I know to ask for the buttery one when someone asks me what wine I want.” He grabbed one of the olives and munched on it. Then a piece of pineapple, and okay, that didn’t go together.

“Should we put the babies in the Pack ’n Play and sit at the table?”

“Sounds good to me. That way we can fry up supper without worrying about hot grease and sweet baby skin.”
