‘Live in one’. Mr. B knew that Jo had agreed to living together, but hearing him say it again with such certainty made his heart soar. “Exactly. I’ve got experience after doing the first one. We’ll set up a decent Wi-Fi somehow… Jo, it’s gonna be great.”
Jo lazily rested his head on Mr. B’s shoulder and groaned. “I took two days off work... we could move my stuff soon.”
“Wait. I haven’t fulfilled all of William’s requests.” Mr. B forced himself to crawl out into the cool morning air. At least it wasn’t that bad in the summer. And his feet were warm.
Jo frowned and bumped his fist against his thigh. “There is no William.”
Mr. B waved his hand at Jo dismissively and rushed over to the train car butt-naked. Jo had said the questionnaire had been truthful apart from the name, so Mr. B grabbed the pipe and the cherry tobacco he’d prepared for his guest. He lit it inside so that he could come out already smoking it.
When he stepped out into the sun, only in the woolen socks that actually felt nice on his skin, Jo rolled over in the cocoon of blankets, disintegrating his bun to a few strands still sticking out of the black elastic band. “Oh, yes!” he exclaimed with enthusiasm. “Should I put the dollar bills into your socks?”
Mr. B almost choked on the smoke from the laughter. “Dumbass. Make room for me, and I’ll let you taste some. You’ve never wanted to try the pipe before.”
“But you always smell of it. That’s why I like it,” Jo said, rolling away to allow Mr. B to join him. After being naked and out of their makeshift bed, Jo’s body felt as hot as lava.
“So you want to smell of me. That can be arranged.” Mr. B took a deep inhale of the smoke and leaned over to pass the smoke to Jo in a kiss.
Epilogue
The jams didn’t work out.
Neither did Juniper and Antoine.
But the Jornard blog, Instagram, and a lifestyle YouTube channel became so popular, revenue started coming from product placement, ads, and the rent for the other train car, which came with the perk of spending time with a fabulous gay couple the Internet fell in love with.
Mr. B wasn’t complaining. Two years into the relationship with Jo he was still just as happy as he had been at the beginning, if not more. He’d built a furniture-making shed in the backyard, and thanks to Jo’s marketing work, Mr. B’s Etsy store was thriving. They made an amazing team, and now that they’d finally managed to connect the Internet last year, Jo didn’t have to go to town anymore to work on their social media presence.
And even though the jam business did not kick off, Mr. B still made his own sweet rosehip booze. In fact, he’d made a whole batch especially for their wedding.
Mr. A’s new boytoy was in a successful local band, which ensured that the reception had the best music in town. Mr. B sang along with the vocals that reached him all the way in the shed, and picked up the wooden crate full of sweet homemade liquor. It was Jo’s favorite, a perfect base for a cocktail to celebrate their union.
The wedding reception had swollen from what was supposed to be a small party for friends to an all out mini-festival. But how could Mr. B have not invited their friends from Crossfit since that was where they’d met, and where they got engaged.
Mr. B had arranged with the trainers to establish a special WOD that ended on a routine with the gymnastic rings. And when Jo got to the last exercise, instead of two hoops, he saw the engagement ring on a black ribbon hung from the bar when Jo had been distracted by the guys.
The sex in the locker room afterward had been mind-blowing.
“Mr. B? Where are you?” called out Mr. A through the mic in a break between songs. “Your groom is waiting. With cake.”
“Coming!” Mr. B yelled at the top of his lungs and rushed out with the crate of booze. He didn’t want his guests to go without.
As soon as he got closer to the crowd, his dad took the crate away so that he could focus on his wedding cake - a gorgeous naked three-tier beauty with whipped vanilla cream and fresh berries, and a decoration of edible flowers. He smiled widely at the most stylish groom he’d ever seen. Dressed in a very slim—if not skinny—black suit with an even slimmer tie, Jo’s outfit looked sleek next to Mr. B’s more casual cream-colored shirt worn with suspenders and bow-tie. They might not have matched but they both tried to look their best, and that was what mattered.
Jo grinned at him, pulling away from his parents and waving at Mr. B before shaking his finger in mock-disapproval.
“I’m here!” Mr. B yelled and rushed up to the cake when Jo already picked up a knife.
He grabbed Mr. B by the suspender and pulled him close, leaning into him with such happiness radiating off his face Mr. B found himself more touched than he’d expected. And he’d almost cried at the wedding himself.
With friends gathered to celebrate their love, he didn’t think he could be any happier, but when Jo cut a piece of the cake and pressed it against Mr. B’s lips, making sure to leave plenty of the sweet cream in his moustache, he understood that as long as they were together, there would always come a moment to top even the happiest of memories.

About the author
K. A. Merikan are a team of writers, who are mistaken for sisters with surprising regularity. Kat’s the mean sergeant and survival specialist of the duo, never hesitating to kick Agnes’s ass when she’s slacking off. Her memory works like an easy-access catalogue, which allows her to keep up with both book details and social media. Also works as the emergency GPS. Agnes is the Merikan nitpicker, usually found busy with formatting and research. Her attention tends to be scattered, and despite pushing thirty, she needs to apply makeup to buy alcohol. Self-proclaimed queen of the roads.
They love the weird and wonderful, stepping out of the box, and bending stereotypes both in life and books. When you pick up a Merikan book, one thing you can be sure of - it will be full of surprises.
