Way before she entered kindergarten, Lia Kane learned how to read. She fell in love with story books and wished upon a star that she would grow up to be a writer. Later, she realized she should have been more specific. As a young adult and chronic overachiever, Lia spent way too much time in college and graduate school, where all of her creative energy was wasted on writing term papers and other such silly things. After she graduated with two Masters degrees and a large student loan debt that she’ll be paying off for the rest of her life, Lia went to work in a 9 to 5 job. For more than 15 years, she wrote grant proposals, reports, articles and other professional projects that made her want to swear off writing for the rest of her life. Then, at the height of the economic recession, her position at a small nonprofit company was eliminated. She took it as an invitation from the universe to chase her dream of being a novelist. Lia lives in coastal North Carolina, where she now writes fiction all day long and enjoys every single minute of it.
