“Brian never brought Jillian here to meet all of you?” That seems surprising to me considering Lucy told me Brian was ready to propose to Jillian before he caught her cheating.
“I had the misfortune of meeting her right after they started dating. She put on a good front of being a nice person, but I could see right through her. I tried to warn Brian about her, but Brian, of course, didn’t listen and well you know how that ended.” She pauses taking another sip of her wine like she needed to clean Jillian’s name from her tongue. “I think in some ways he subconsciously knew things weren’t going to work out between them, so he didn’t want to introduce her to our mom, which makes me believe he sees a future with you.” She winks at me over the rim of her wine glass.
I hope she’s right. The past few days at Brian’s cabin have made me fall even harder for him. I’m starting to see a future with him too.
Natalie and I proceed to polish off our bottle of wine. Natalie filling me in on all the embarrassing stories of Brian as a kid. I especially enjoyed the story of Brian and Ryder getting busted for streaking at the homecoming game when they were in high school. Double trouble for sure.
Natalie works from home as a graphic designer so she can be home with Sophie and Chloe. She’s also the first to break the family cop mold and married a firefighter.
Natalie’s husband Kyle calls her away for a minute to help set up the kids pool. I pan the backyard for Brian and his nieces, spotting them over by the castle playhouse sitting at the little table. I get up from the table and walk over to join them. As I get closer, I can see that the girls have managed to get Brian to put on a sparkly tiara and a bright pink feathered boa. They have him completely wrapped around their little fingers, and it’s cute as hell. He sits there sipping tea and munching on a cupcake, being the good sweet uncle.
I start thinking about how good of a father he will be, so sweet and protective. I’ve never really thought about having kids before. Jake and I were so focused on our careers the thought of kids never entered our minds. But now seeing Brian with his nieces I have this overwhelming urge to scream out, ‘Put your baby in me.’
Brian catches me watching them, his face turning a bright shade of red. He pulls off his tiara and boa and starts to get up from the table. “Excuse me ladies, but I need to go spend some time with Princess Brooke.” Brian saunters over to me, eyeing me up and down. I love the way he looks at me like I’m the only woman in the room. Makes me feel so beautiful and wanted. He slides his hands around my waist, stealing a kiss. I hear the girls giggling.
“Come on, I want to show you something.”
Brian takes my hand and leads me into the house and upstairs to one of the bedrooms. He opens the door and ushers me inside and it feels like we just stepped back in time. It’s Brian’s childhood bedroom. The walls are covered in old band posters, his twin bed sits against the back wall flanked by two windows that overlook the water. I notice some picture frames sitting on his dresser. Glancing at the images of Brian with his mom and sister, I spot one at the back that must be examined closer. I pick it up letting out an excited squeal.
“Oh my God, it’s Ryder with a mullet.”
Brian comes up behind me, letting out a little chuckle when he sees the picture I’m holding. “Yeah, he was obsessed with that hairstyle all through junior high.”
I look at Brian in the picture. He has that same sweet crooked smile painted across his face. His floppy brown hair concealing those big brown eyes. “Brian you were so cute,” I gush running my fingers over his picture.
“Really, I thought I looked gangly and nerdy.”
“If we went to the same school, I would’ve had a major crush on you.” I give him a playful little grin over my shoulder.
“Had an eighth-grade version of you told that kid in the picture she liked him, he would’ve died.” He sweeps my hair to the side and starts kissing a trail of kisses down along my neck. “You know we’re all alone up here.” He snakes an arm around my waist pulling me tight against his hard muscular chest. My ass brushing up against the growing bulge hidden under his jeans. “And you look so damn good in this dress.”
“Brian, we’re in your mother’s house. What if someone comes looking for us?” I suck in a deep breath when his fingers make contact with my inner thigh.
“Brooke, we’ve fucked in a Ferris wheel, my precinct, and countless times outside of my cabin and this is where you draw the line?” His voice turns dark and gruff. “No one is going to come up here, they’re all too busy getting drunk.”
“But Brian…”
His teasing fingers against my panties cloud my mind. His other hand moving from my waist up to my neck. His fingers wrap around my throat, gently squeezing. “But nothing. You denied me what is mine all morning. Do you know the pain you put me through by not letting me touch you? I’ve been aching for you all fucking day, and you’re not going to keep me from having you.” He squeezes my neck a little tighter and my body ignites into an intense fire.
God, I love it when he goes all alpha on me.
“Now be a good girl and take off those fucking panties and ride my fucking face until I’m drowning in you. I want to get drunk off of you.”
He releases me then walks over to his bed and lays down on his back. I swallow hard as I slip off my shoes and sweater. Reaching up under my dress, I slide off my panties and walk over to the bed. I’m embarrassingly wet. He’s not the only one who was aching this morning, it killed me not to feel his hands, his tongue, his body on every inch of me. But he deserved it after springing meeting his mom on me the way he did.
I straddle his face aligning myself over his full lips. Brian looking up at me with dark impatient eyes grabs my hips and slams me down onto his dangerously long tongue. I have to bite my lips to fight back the scream of pleasure as he pushes his tongue deep inside my wet pussy. It’s warm and velvety inside me. He grabs two handfuls of my ass, working me faster and harder against his mouth. Devouring every inch of my pussy, driving my body wild. I love this man’s tongue. He can do things with just his tongue that can put most dicks to shame.
He’s relentless, eating me out like I’m his last fucking meal. His skillful tongue working me to the brink. I brace my hands on the headboard, fighting back my moans. His scruffy beard scratching my tender flesh, nose bumping against my swollen clit. My head is spinning, hips writhing, I’m so fucking close.
“Fuck Brian, I’m coming.” My orgasm surges through me, pussy throbbing around Brian’s nimble tongue. Brian keeps his steady, relentless pace, licking and sucking until I’m coming over and over begging him to stop, but he doesn’t until I’m a limp, exhausted mess and he’s drunk every last drop of me.
Once he’s done, he helps me down onto his bed and wraps me in his strong arms, holding me as my body begins to calm.
“You and that magic tongue will be the death of me.” I sigh, nuzzling my face in the crook of his neck.
“Death by multiple orgasms. Best way to go in my opinion,” he teases. “We better get back out there.”
“I’m gonna need a minute more to collect myself.”
The party’s beginning to settle down, everyone’s down sitting by the fire pit roasting marshmallows. Brooke is sitting next to my sister with Chloe and Sophie nestled right up next to her. My family’s loving Brooke just as I knew they would. She’s a great girl, what’s not to love.
After our fun in my bedroom, we made the rounds introducing Brooke to all my aunts and uncles and my millions of cousins. And she handled it all like a champ. My family can be a little intense, but Brooke turned on her charm and won everyone over like she had with me. She especially won over my nieces, showing them how to do tricks on the trampoline and drinking gallons of tea at their tea party.
“Well, there you are.” My mom comes up from behind me on the deck.
“Yeah, just needed a quiet moment. Happy Birthday by the way.”
“Thank you.” She joins me by the railing and follows my ga
ze down to Brooke. “Brooke’s a very lovely girl, sweetheart. You really picked a winner with her.”
“Do you really like her?”
“Anyone who can make you this happy is a winner in my book.” She gives me a reassuring smile.
“I’m really falling hard for her, Mom. When I’m with her, I’m the happiest I’ve ever been and when I’m away from her it’s—”
“It’s like a piece of you is missing?”
“Yes, that. How do you know?”
“That’s how I felt about your father. When we first met, we were so drawn that we couldn’t stand to be away from each other.”
“That’s how I feel about Brooke. She completes me but…” I drop my head, hearing the familiar nagging voice in my head telling me I’m not good enough for Brooke.
“What’s on your mind son?” she asks.
“It’s just sometimes I don’t feel like I deserve her. She’s beautiful and caring and smart as hell, and I know one day she’s going to realize she deserves someone better than me.”
My mom slides her hand along my back and tilts my face with the other. “Now you can just stop with that rubbish talk right now.” She gives me a stern look. “You sound just like your father did when we first started dating. He’d go on and on about how he didn’t deserve me either. It took a couple of good hits to the head of reality before he finally caught on that he was worthy.”
“Really? I can’t imagine Dad doubting himself on anything.”
“By the time you and your sister came along he’d gotten his shit together. It took getting him away from Grandma Gamble for a couple years to have it stick. God bless that old battle-axe for trying to raise him to be a strong man, but she didn’t always do it in the best of ways. He was a mess when I met him. Kind of like you are now. It took a lot of love and support on both our sides.”
It was surprising to hear that my father went through the same doubts and struggles I’m going through. When I was a kid, he was always the confident cop that didn’t take shit from anyone. He saw what he wanted and went after it, so to hear that he had flaws and doubts makes me feel a little better.
“Look, Brian, with every good man there’s a wonderful strong woman walking side by side with them. Supporting and loving him and you have that with Brooke. She looks at you like I used to look at your father. That girl is head over heels for you. Don’t let your head get in the way. You deserve to be happy with the woman you love, don’t ever forget that.” She leans in and gives me a kiss on the forehead. “Now get your ass down there and be with your girl.”
She turns and walks down the steps to join the rest of the party. I know she’s right. Brooke makes me the happiest I’ve ever been. She’s my world and I do deserve all the love that she has to offer.
I look down at Brooke she’s smiling and laughing at something one of my uncles has said. The light from the fire dancing off her beautiful face. I once heard that when you meet your soulmate they will shine brighter than anyone. I used to think that was a load of shit. That was until I met Brooke. She’s the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen, and to me she shines brighter than the sun. And I love this woman more than anything in this world. I know now without a doubt, I’m going to marry this girl.
It’s our last night at Brian’s cabin. Last night before we’ll have to leave our little bubble and go back to reality. This trip has been so relaxing and amazing, I don’t want it to end. I don’t want to have to share my man with the rest of the world again. We spent the week exploring the island and exploring each other. I feel even more connected with Brian. He’s consuming every part of me, etching himself into my soul. For the first time in two years, I finally see a future. A future with Brian. It feels so good.
After my initial panic about meeting Brian’s family had subsided, I was kind of glad he surprised me with it. It kept me from stressing out and it didn’t give me the opportunity to try and talk him out of taking me. Meeting Brian’s Mom and family had gone off better than I could have hoped. His family was warm and welcoming, and Brian’s Mom is such a sweetheart I wanted to make her my mom. We’d gotten along so well, we made plans to get together for lunch the next time she came into the city. It was just a perfect day.
Just as I’m finishing drying the last of the dinner dishes, I hear music coming from the living room. It’s one of my favorite songs ‘Tennessee Whiskey’ by Chris Stapleton. I shut the cabinet door and I feel the heat of Brian come up behind me. His hands sliding around my waist and his warm lips kissing my neck.
“Come dance with me,” he whispers against my skin. I can’t help but smile at his gesture.
He grabs my hand and leads me into the living room. Spinning me around he pulls me close to his chest. This seems very un-Brian-like, but he’s been full of surprises since the day we met.
“I didn’t know you liked to dance.” I slip my arm around his neck and lay my head against his chest as we start to sway to the music.
“I don’t, but it seems like since you’ve come into my life you’ve changed my outlook on everything.” He rests his head on mine. He’s warm and comforting. I hear his heart beating in a calming rhythm as he takes in a deep breath. “Brooke this past week with you has been so wonderful.”
“I’ve loved this time with you so much, Brian. I wish it didn’t have to end.” I let out a low sigh, wishing I could stay here and play house with Brian forever.
“Maybe it doesn’t have to,” he says in a hushed tone, holding me closer to him.
I lift my head up, giving him a curious look and wondering what’s going on in that head of his. “What do you mean?”
“Brooke, before meeting you I was broken and drowning in darkness. I was so lost. Then you showed up at my doorstep like a bright beam of light sent to help guide me out of my personal hell.” He takes in a calming breath. “You’ve become my best friend, my lover, and the love of my life. Every minute I’m with you I fall more and more in love with you.” He looks at me with such sincerity and pure love in his eyes. Before this trip, there was a little hesitation hidden deep within his eyes, but now that’s gone replaced with confidence and love.
“When I’m not with you, it feels like a part of my soul is missing and I never want to feel that way again. You’re my world, Brooke. The love of my life and I want…”
My heart begins to beat rapidly in my chest.
Is he about to ask what I think he’s going to?
It’s barely been four months. That’s not enough time, or is this just my head making me question this again. My dad married my mom after only two months of meeting her. I love Brian with every ounce of my being, but am I really ready for what he’s about to ask?
“I want to spend the rest of my life making you as happy as you’ve made me…” He pauses for a moment then drops to his knees. “Brooke McCoy, will you marry me?”
In that moment all my doubts, all my hesitations fade away and I know without hesitation that I’m ready to spend the rest of my life with this man.
“Yes, Brian, I will marry you.”
Brian returns to his feet and scoops me up off my feet, spinning us around the small living room. “Brooke you’ve made me the happiest man in the world.” He sets me back down on my feet and cups my face in his strong hands and seals our lips in a soft tender kiss.
My heart’s swelling with happiness and tears of joy are streaming down my face. I might have made him the happiest man alive, but he’s made me the happiest woman alive. I get to marry my best friend, the love of my life and be his girl forever.
“I don’t have a ring for you yet, but as soon as we get back I’ll buy you the ring of your dreams.” He brings my left hand up to his mouth and kisses my ring finger.
“I don’t care about the ring. I get you for the rest of my life that’s all I need. To be your wife is the greatest honor I’ll ever have. I love you so much, Brian.”
“I love you too, Brooke. I can’t wait to make you my wife.” He lifts me off my feet agai
n and carries me back to the bedroom, keeping his lips firmly planted on mine.
Mrs. Brian Gamble. Yeah, I like the sound of that.
“Brian come on.” Brooke pushes me away as I try to distract her by kissing her neck. “Your detective exam is tomorrow and you need to study.”
“Brooke, we have been at this for two hours. Can’t we just take a little break?” I lean back in this time winning the battle and trailing my lips down along her neck. Stopping to suck on the tender flesh between her neck and shoulder. The spot I know always drives her crazy. “I just want to have a little sex break with my beautiful fiancée.”
Two months have passed since I proposed to Brooke, and I still love the sound of her being my fiancée. I never intended on proposing to Brooke during our trip, but after seeing her with my family and how well she just fitted in with them and after my talk with my mother, I just knew I was ready to make her my wife. I knew it was fast at the time, but it felt right. We agreed to wait to set a date until after I’d met her dad and her brother, which was fine by me. Brooke’s so close to her brother and her dad, I didn’t want us doing anything without their approval first. We’re going to spend the rest of our lives together so I can wait a little longer.
“Brian, forty-five minutes of that two hours was you fucking me in the kitchen after I went to go get us more coffee.” She pushes me away, denying me what I want once again.
She should know better by now than to deny me what I want. I lunge for her pushing her back against the couch and straddle her waist to keep her from escaping. Her little excited squeals are so damn cute.
“I can’t help it. You look so damn sexy strutting around our apartment in these tiny shorts and this skimpy tank top that makes your tits look so damn delectable.” I place a soft kiss on the top of each breast, smiling to myself when I see her nipples perk up under the thin fabric of her tank. “Brooke I know all this stuff, backward and forward. I got this,” I say confidently, dipping my head down running my tongue along the hollow of her neck.
