“Hey, are you okay? Did I hurt you? Damn it, I knew it was too soon. I just…I just couldn’t help myself. I’m so sorry Brooke.”

I wiped my tears and looked into his eyes.

“No, you didn’t hurt me. Until today, I always thought that my sex life was fulfilling. After being with you, I realize now that I’ve never had a man make me come so hard with his tongue or his cock, it was intense.”

He pulled me in for a deep kiss our tongues softly twisting and dancing with each other. We broke off the kiss, holding each other for long moments.

“Stay with me Brooke. I can keep you safe. It will be good, for both of us. At least think about it, please.”

I was confused. We’d just had mind blowing sex and now it sounded like he was asking me to move in with him. When I was honest with myself, I wanted to. Logically, I knew it was too soon and that it would look like I was rebounding. I don’t know, maybe in some way I was. There was nothing I wanted more than to have him by my side. To have him anytime I needed or wanted.

“Dylan, let me think about it. I’m not saying no, but I’m not saying yes either. It’s too soon, I need time to think.”

He wasn’t happy with my response but he understood my hesitance, because he understood me.

He reached for my hand and led me to large bathroom inside his room. Dylan turned on the shower and I joined him. As I stood under the water he brushed my hair back as water streamed down my body. I could feel the terrifying events of the day washing away. Dylan squeezed body wash on his hands and began lathering. He worked his way up and down my body until he reached my sex. His hands hovered over my hard, aching clit as he rubbed in soft, little circles. I tilted my head back feeling my orgasm build once again. He lifted me and pushed me up against the shower wall, water falling around us. He gave me a soft kiss and then pushed himself in me. Slowly he moved in and out letting me feel every hard inch of him. “Ah god”, he moaned. I wrapped my arms and legs around him pulling him closer, taking him deeper. My walls were tightening on him, squeezing him, ready for the milking that he was going to give me. I was squirming, fucking him back as best I could; calling out his name, “Dylan, that’s so good. Don’t stop. Keep rubbing right there. Oh god. That spot, right there.” My eyes flew open almost in a panic. “Dylan, I’m gonna come! Now Dylan! I’m coming.” His eyes were staring straight in to my soul as I released. He threw his head back and exploded giving me every last milky drop of him. He carried me to bed, cuddled me and together we drifted off to sleep.

When I awoke he was gone. I felt panicked being in a strange place, a strange bed. I was use to waking next to Stefan. I rolled over, hearing noises from the down hall. I quickly jumped out of bed and put my panties on and slipped in to one of Dylan’s t-shirts. His scent enveloped me. I headed down the long hallway where I found him in the kitchen making breakfast. He was a beautiful sight as he flipped the blueberry pancakes. With the spatula still in his hand he walked toward me and put his arms around me placing a kiss on my cheek.

“Good morning beautiful. Did you sleep well?”

  I kissed him back. “Yes.”

“Good. Later this morning I’ll take you to get your car and you can park it here in my garage.”

He turned his attention back to flipping our pancakes.

“That won’t be necessary,” I told him. “The car was a graduation gift from Stefan; the car is in his name. I won’t be driving my Audi ever again. I would be forever grateful though if you could take me after work on Monday to get a new car. I’ll see if Mandy can pick me up this afternoon and take me clothes shopping so I have something to wear until I can get my things out of the apartment.”

  Dylan’s eyebrows shot straight up.

“Yes I will take you car shopping. No, you are not going to work tomorrow and I will take you clothes shopping. You will stay with me until it’s safe for you to be on your own. I know the influence Stefan has and I can’t trust that he doesn’t have people out looking for you.”

I was learning quickly that there was no arguing with Dylan. If I wanted to get out and be on my own, I would have to wait until he left to make my move. I wasn’t sure when I would get that moment. I did however; need to make him understand that I would be going to work in the morning. Now that I was single, I needed my job more than ever.

“Alright Dylan, you can take me shopping today and I appreciate the offer to take me car shopping tomorrow.”

  He smiled, “but?”

“I have to work. I need this job to support myself. I also need to let David know that I won’t be using my vacation time.”

I knew it wouldn’t be easy convincing him to let me work but I had hoped.

“Take this week off instead Brooke. I can take time off too and be with you, protect you.”

I was irritated with his insistence.

“Dylan...I’m fine. Stefan is not going to hurt me again. He already knows I’ve filed a police report. If he’s smart he won’t come near me.”

“Yeah princess, you assume he’s smart and I’m sure he is. You also forget that he’s a lawyer, and a damn good one at that, who just so happens to know the law very well. He knows every politician and judge in this city which I know for a fact that he has done favors for, all in the name of justice. Take this week off. After your court date on Tuesday, we’ll pack up and leave. We’ll go somewhere warm and beautiful where we can get to know each a little better.”

My jaw dropped. I couldn’t believe what he was inferring.

“Are you fucking kidding me? I don’t have money to go anywhere. I have to save everything I have in order to live. Everything I had saved is tied up in a joint account with that shit head! To be quite honest, I think you and I are very well acquainted now. After all, we fucked like crazy last night and I let you enter me bare back. Doesn’t get much more personal than that, now does it? I’ll take the week off just to get you off my ass and get my shit sorted, but I’m not going anywhere else with you.”

Dylan gave me a sly smirk.

“We’ll see about that princess. Tell yourself whatever you need to in order to make yourself feel better. You forget I have the means to take you anywhere. I haven’t asked you for a cent, nor will I and you can stop talking about us like we don’t matter. Now sit, it’s time to eat.”

He was the most frustrating man I’d ever encountered, always so damn bossy and persistent. I was starving, so I did as I was told. I had to hand it to him, the man could cook. Sooner or later we were going to have a little chat about just how Dylan made his money. I knew there was no way in hell that he was living like this on an accountant’s salary. I would also need to make it clear that I wasn’t his damsel in distress who needed saving. Dylan would have to save that fairy tale for another woman. I chuckled at the thought of Dylan riding in on his white horse to save me. Ironic, that in some ways, that’s exactly what he’d done. My thought quickly disappeared when I realized I would need to make the dreaded phone call to my parents.

We showered, dressed and made our way to the mall so I could pick out some new outfits and shoes. I was surprised at what great taste Dylan had when it came to women’s fashion. I teased him about his feminine side and he took it all in stride. It was late afternoon and we were getting hungry, so we drove to a small little Italian restaurant just outside of town. We sat outside at a small, quaint bistro table surrounded by trees and assorted flowers in flower pots. It was quite lovely. Dylan placed our food order for the two us and a bottle of red wine.

“I hope you like calzones with pepperoni and sausage, because that’s their specialty here.”

Even though I’d had one a couple of days before, they never got old. Calzones had always been a favorite of mine. They just didn’t like my ass.

I smiled and put my hand over his.

“I love calzones. I’m just glad you’re sitting here with me. Thank you for being a great friend and putting up with me.”

“I’m glad I’m here too Brooke. However,
I think we’re a little more than just friends at this point, perhaps friends with benefits? “

I blushed remembering the events of past evening.

“I suppose you’re right. I like this, friends with benefits thing. It also doesn’t suck that my friend is super hot and amazing in bed.”

A sly smile crossed Dylan’s face.

  “Did you say suck?”

  We both burst out laughing.

  “You’re so bad! Stop it.”

“I couldn’t help it. You started it. Besides, I have a few more things that I’d like to show you.”

“Oh? Where might these things be located?”

His voice took on a serious tone.

“In my bed Brooke and I fully intend on showing you everything.”

Oh my, I thought. We need to get off this subject and quick. Everything in my body was beginning to tighten and respond. It amazed me how his voice could command such things inside of me.

The waiter came and filled our glasses and I took a sip of my wine. I wasn’t usually a fan of red wine, but had to admit, it was divine. It was a lovely day and I let my thoughts drift, letting go of the sadness and anger that I had been feeling toward Stefan and his betrayal. When I was with Dylan I felt like nothing else mattered except the two of us. I was falling for him but knew that we’d be nothing more than friends with benefits. I would have to enjoy him while I could.

“Tell me about your family”, I said to Dylan.

  “There’s not much to tell.”

We finished eating our meal and Dylan leaned over and gave me a kiss. “Are you sure you want to hear about my family”, he asked.

  “Yes.”

“My mom and dad have been together for twenty-nine years. They met in high school or something like that and then married immediately after graduation. I guess it pissed my grandparents off something fierce, since they had other plans for my mother. To my understanding, my father was relentless. Always chasing after my mother, he even had the other guys at school afraid to ask her out on a date when they had split up for a short time. I laugh at them, because even after all this time, they are still so in love with each other, you can see it. They had three of us; my sister Danielle, my brother Luke and then me. I’m the baby. My brother has two girls, Ema is five and Ally is three. They are adorable and they love their Uncle Dylan.”

  “I don’t doubt that”, I said.

A big smile came across his face.

“My mother is a beautiful woman. She came from money and lots of it, which is why her parents were so pissed when she married my dad. Not that my dad was poor. My dad’s family was very wealthy, but they didn’t have the same kind of wealth my mother’s had until later. My mother’s family was in to architecture. As a matter of fact the Stockton building is owned by my mother. Her father inherited all of the buildings his father owned when he died. An only child, she grew up extremely wealthy and was the richest girl in town. My father on the other hand had to work hard for his wealth. My grandfather worked on the oil rigs and was paid very well. He worked his way up to CFO before making the decision to start his own company. Growing up, my father lived next door to the governor. I think he was about thirteen when they made the move. You can tour the mansion still to this day. The Prescott Mansion is a beautiful work of art. It’s the white mansion with blue shutters and white columns in the front. I can take you on a private tour someday if you’d like. As you can see, my grandfather built quite an empire that he was able to pass on to his family. My father took over the company when my grandpa passed away. One day, Prescott Oil and Gas International will be mine. My father believes that a person needs to start from the bottom in order to understand how a business truly runs, which is why I currently work in the accounting department. I’m lucky though, since I practically own the company, I can come and go as I please.”

Holy fuck! No wonder Stefan’s money doesn’t faze him. Then it hit me!

“Holy shit! You’re that Dylan Prescott. I hadn’t made the connection until just now.”

“Yep. The one and only. Is that a problem?”

“No. I…I just wow. I’ve heard about you in the news but I never paid attention. I’ve seen some of the women you’ve dated. They’re gorgeous.”

They were too. He dated Hollywood starlets, models and what the hell was he doing with me?

  Dylan gave an irritated look.

  “Don’t Brooke.”

  “Don’t what?”

“Don’t compare yourself to the women I’ve dated. Looks are only skin deep, they don’t last forever. I don’t look for that in a woman anyway. I want a woman who can think for herself, one that I can have conversations with, share my life with and someone who isn’t hung up on my money; someone like you. To me, you’re the most intriguing, beautiful woman I’ve ever met.”

God my heart melted on the spot. I reached over and touched his cheek.

“Thank you. That’s the sweetest thing anyone has ever said to me.”

“It’s true Brooke and I intend on making you believe it.”

“Now, can I finish telling you my story?”

  I laughed.

“Of course. Proceed Mr. Control Freak.”

“When it comes to you princess, I will control everything.”

Again, that serious tone and gaze followed his every word. I shivered a little.

“Although oil drilling is mostly done down in Texas, my family stayed in Colorado. As a matter of fact, they moved the corporate headquarters of Stockton Enterprises and Prescott Oil and Gas International to Denver. My parents loved the mountains and insisted that my brother, sister and I learned how to ski. We took many family ski trips to Aspen each year. Since my parents are such strong believers in working hard and making your own money, they had each of us do chores to earn our lift tickets.”

It was a lot to absorb but I was beginning to understand a little more about the gorgeous man sitting across the table from me. It now made sense why he lived in such an extravagant penthouse on an accountant’s salary.

“Your parents must be very proud of you Dylan. I’m sure your mother wants you to settle down, marry a nice young woman and give her more grandbabies.”

He took a sip of his wine.

“My mother wants me to be happy in everything I do. My parents are very supportive of the women I choose to date, although, I haven’t taken any women home to meet my parents. I’m sure they think I’m gay. In all honesty though, I hadn’t found a woman worthy of meeting my mother until recently. What about you Brooke? What is your family like?”

I was just about to say; “there’s nothing to tell” when his phone rang. He answered.

  “This is Dylan”.

I could hear another woman’s voice on the other end.

“Hey, sexy. Are you free tonight? Edward has the kids and I was thinking we could maybe go to dinner and then have a little fun after.”

He ran a frustrated hand through his hair.

“Misty, no. Tonight is not a good night. As a matter of fact, no night is a good night. I told you, there is nothing between us anymore. You need to let this shit go, move on. You’re pissing me off with these games. Lose my number.”

  “Are you seeing someone else?”

“Not that I owe you an explanation but yes, I am.”

  “Who is she?”

“None of your damn business Misty and you will stay away from her. Do I make myself clear?”

He ended the call and turned back to me. “Are you ready to go princess?”

“Yes. Let’s get out of here.”

As we left, I made a mental note to never piss Dylan Prescott off. He could be a real asshole.

  CHAPTER 5

We made it back to Dylan’s place just after six. I was tired and needing a bath. Something was off with Misty and I couldn’t put my finger on it. I hadn’t trusted her from the moment I met her; my feelings hadn’t changed. Dylan said he had some business that needed tending to so I padded my way down the
hall to the large, soaking tub. I was grateful that he’d left me alone. I wasn’t sure I could handle another round of him. I was falling so hard and fast for him, I had been since virtually the day I’d met him. It was too soon. There was no way that I was getting involved with the “sex god” romantically. We were just going to have really great sex and then go our separate ways. I had a strong feeling that things weren’t completely over with Misty and I didn’t want to hinder any possibilities between them. I let my thoughts take over; dreaming of what it would be like to be with a man like Dylan. He was nothing like Stefan. In all the years that I had spent with Stefan I never imagined that he would turn out the way he had over the last year. It made me sad thinking about what might have changed.

I had always envisioned us getting married, having children and the little white picket fence. These were the things that I had wanted, not what he wanted, at least not with me. I’d been so caught up in a relationship that I thought was working but wasn’t. Dylan proved that. Sex had always seemed fulfilling with Stefan. One night with Dylan and I knew that wasn’t true either. He made me feel more love in that one night than I had in eleven years; taking his time, making me climax, ensuring that I felt every bit as much pleasure as him. It was as if my body knew he was the perfect lover for me. I couldn’t keep fooling myself or living on a pipe dream. I was damaged, old and had a shit load of emotional baggage, when I lost him it would hurt like hell. There was no way I could subject him to the real Brooke Stone. If he knew the things of my past, he would run away screaming.

I pushed my thoughts aside and dried myself with a soft, fluffy white towel. It felt good to be pampered. Stepping in to the bedroom I saw that all of my new underwear had been washed. On the bed were five pairs of underwear and one of Dylan’s t-shirts. The sweet gesture made me smile. I barely knew this man and he was always putting me first, taking care of me. I went looking for Dylan but didn’t find him in the living room. Instead, as I turned behind me I saw a room with light emanating from underneath the door. I walked toward the light and knocked on the door. His office was like all the other rooms in the place, grand. He was typing something in to the computer and looked up at me with a smile.
