  EDUARDO LAGO was born in Spain in 1954, and has been a resident of New York City since 1987. The author of numerous interviews with American writers, including Philip Roth, John Updike, Norman Mailer, David Foster Wallace, and Don DeLillo, he has translated fiction by Henry James, William Dean Howells, Junot Díaz, and John Barth into Spanish, among other authors. Call Me Brooklyn, his first novel, was declared the best book of 2006 by the daily El mundo, and won the Nadal Award, Spain’s oldest literary prize, as well as the City of Barcelona Award, the National Critics’ Award and the Lara Foundation Critic’s Award, all in 2007. Between 2006 and 2011, Lago served as Executive Director of the Cervantes Institute in New York. He teaches at Sarah Lawrence College, where he has been a tenured member of the faculty since 1994.

  As well as a translator, ERNESTO MESTRE-REED is the author of three novels, The Lazarus Rumba, The Second Death of Única Aveyano, and the forthcoming Sacrificio. He is Assistant Professor of Fiction at Brooklyn College.
