Because she wasn’t that open to other humans, young Andromeda would turn to books, reading at an early age, and was always found with a pile of books near her person. Her imagination grew because of her reading ability and she began to tell stories to her friends and families. Her mother always told her her dreams were as numerous as the stars and she later took it, along with the first name, Andromeda, to make her current pen name.
Starting to write in middle school, she didn’t exactly begin to go out into the world and begin writing until her second year of college when she discovered the online community of Wattpad, a site that allows people to vote, write and comment on stories. It has well over 45 million members and grows every day. Realizing how good a tool this could be, Andromeda joined, and over the course of two years, has gotten a following of over six thousand, that continues to grow every day.
When she isn’t writing, she is studying, as her dream is to go into the law field and write for fun, not a job. However, if the option ever did arise for her writing to become full time, she would take it, but continue her studies in law nonetheless. Her hobbies include cooking, hanging with her family, volunteering and listening to music. Normally, she writes with headphones as music helps inspire her.
Series Q & A
Question: How did you come up with the idea of the Passion and Sand Trilogy?
Answer: I’ve always loved history, and it was that drive that made me write five (now six) historical novels. Growing up, I had five favorite time eras I loved to read/write about: Tudor England, Ancient Egypt, Imperial China, Victorian England and Ancient Rome/Greece.
Question: What drove you to write this book?
Answer: GLADIATORS! Haha, I’ve always loved reading about them, and when I found out that in Roman society they had a high status in life, though most of them had humble beginnings, I knew I had to write on it.
Question: Who is real in this series? Who is fake?
Answer: I would say about 90% of the cast is fake, with 10% being real; however, the ones that are fake are based on real people. Kaiser is based on a Thracian named Spartacus, Artemus is based on a Gaul named Crixus, and so forth. Out of all the fake characters, only Ayanna isn’t based on anyone, to be honest. She is a mixture of several warrior women who lived either at that time or around it. However, people such as Huneric, Genseric and Alaric were all real people, who all did fight against Rome.
Question: Is all the fighting in this series real? What is fake?
Answer: The series is based on 3 main events in Roman history: Third Servile War, also called the Gladiator War, which was in 73–71 BC; the Sack of Rome in 410 BC, and the Sack of Rome in 455 BC. The Gladiatorial was a series of slave revolts led under the command of a former gladiator named Spartacus (who Kaiser is based off). The Sack of Rome in 410 BC was the attack of the city under the hands of the Visigoth King Alaric. The Sack of Rome in 455 BC was the attack of the city under the hands of the Vandal leader, Genseric. Both sacks succeeded as they took advantage of Rome’s weaknesses at the time of being stretched too thin. Third Servile War was so close to succeeding, but in the end, all the leaders, including Spartacus, were killed at the ultimate battle.
Question: Was this series based on the popular TV series Spartacus, or even Game of Thrones?
Answer: No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. Noooooooooooooooooo. I don’t know how many times I can say that. There is a problem with some people, in which they see something on TV or something and believe that thing made it popular. Just because the Spartacus TV series is popular, does not mean that said TV series owns the rights to all creative works about gladiators in Rome. That TV series was BASED off a REAL man, and REAL wars. The same thing with Game of Thrones. George R.R. Martin’s books were inspired by a REAL series of English wars known as the War of the Roses, or the Cousins War. For my books, I based them on the following three wars: Third Servile War, also called the Gladiator War, which was in 73–71 BC, the Sack of Rome in 410 BC, and the Sack of Rome in 455 BC.
Question: What other works do you have planned?
Answer: Writing historical fiction has been fun, real fun, but I need to get back to the 21st century, haha, if that makes sense. So, after this book, I am going to take a quick break before I get to work on my next series of Adult Paranormal/Urban Fantasy books that I can’t wait to start on.
