Learning To Love (The Griffin Brothers Book 4) Page 17

by Perkins, Crystal

I’m at my apartment because my parents wanted us to drive over to the graduation together. I could tell Luke wanted to fight me on this, but he just sighed and kissed me goodbye this morning. I promised to meet him back at the house after graduation, though. I told my parents I wanted some alone time.

The ceremony goes well, and then we stay for Luke’s graduation. My parents don’t really want to, but they also don’t want to offend the Griffins. Appearance is everything, after all. Rose and I cheer loudly for Luke. I can’t help myself and I hope he hears me. My parents frown at me, but I just shrug like it’s no big deal.

I arrive back at our house before Luke and go upstairs to get ready for the party. I’d found a cute dress to wear—I’m not totally in love with it, but it’s nice. When I walk into the bedroom, I’m met with a sea of balloons with little stuffed animals tied to all of them. Past them I see a gorgeous dress and shoes on the bed. I walk over and pick up the note that’s there with them.

  Ollie,

I know you aren’t in love with the dress you bought, but I hope you love this one. I can’t wait to see you in it!

  I love you,

  Luke

I start to cry as I pick up the dress. I can’t believe he did this for me. Actually, I can. That doesn’t make it any less amazing, though. The dress has a combination of red and beaded fabric draped across the front with black fabric in the middle, and then wavy bands of black on the bottom. The back has a sheer panel on top and then leads to low draped red, black, and gray fabric with the black waves coming around the back, similar to the front. It’s beyond sexy, and my parents will hate it, but I can’t wait for Luke to see me in it. The shoes are black heels with crystals in a cool pattern.

I strip off my clothes and put on the dress and heels, then do my hair in a funky twist. I put on smoky eye makeup and red lipstick. I decide to wait in Luke’s office for him. That’s where my graduation presents for him are. I’ll just be an added present. I hope he wants to unwrap me before we leave.

“Ollie, are you up here?” I hear Luke coming up the stairs as he calls to me.

  “I’m in your office.”

He opens the door. “Why’re you in…holy shit!”

  “Do you like it?”

“I fucking love it,” he tells me as he takes in the large flat screen, the built in shelves, the recliner, and all the little teacher knickknacks and hockey memorabilia I found. I told him he couldn’t come in here the past couple of days because I wanted him to see it all today.

“I wanted to give you a cool man cave to escape to.” I spent all my savings and a big chunk of my credit cards’ available balances to do this room for him. It’s worth every penny as I see that he really does love it.

“I don’t ever want to escape from you, but this is seriously cool.”

  “I loved my presents, too.”

He looks me over, that killer smile of his lighting up his face. “You’re so damn hot. Not just in that dress. I’m going to be hard all day.”

“Are you hard now?” I sashay my hips a little as I walk to him.

“Do you even have to ask?”

I reach out and stroke him through his pants. “I haven’t put my panties on yet.”

His eyes widen, and then I’m on his desk with my legs spread wide. His hands move over my thighs until they reach where I’m wet and waiting. “We don’t have much time.”

“Then hurry up and get your cock out.”

He does just that, and at one point, I think his desk might break. It somehow holds up, and we rest there for a minute before getting ready to leave. I put on my panties and he straightens his clothes before we get in our separate cars and head to the party.

  Luke

I arrive at the party a few minutes after Olivia. We’re both late, but I don’t care. I had to have my wife before we left. She looks so hot in the dress I bought her. I’m planning on convincing her to sneak away during the party, too.

I see her talking to her family. Her mother’s gesturing to her dress and frowning. Olivia seems to be holding her own. I’m glad for that. Maybe I can convince her to tell them tonight. Before I can contemplate a plan of action, Steph comes up and hugs me.

  “Can you believe we’re done?”

  “It’s great, huh?”

“I didn’t realize you and your tutoring friend had gotten close enough to have a party together.”

  “What’s your problem, Steph?”

She reaches out and runs her fingers over my tie. “You never call anymore.”

I pull her hand off me. “I never called you before unless it was class related. So why would I call you now?”

“You know you loved that night as much as I did.” She tries to reach for me again, and I step back.

“I liked that night. There was no love involved. I thought I was clear about everything.”

“You said the words, but you can’t mean them. We’re perfect for each other.”

“I did mean them, and we’re definitely not perfect for each other. You were invited today because I thought we were friends. If you can’t understand that we’ll never be more, maybe you should go.”

Instead of having the desired effect of getting her to back off, my words seem to spur her on. She reaches for me, and before I can react, she kisses me hard. I push her off me immediately, wiping my mouth. “Get the fuck out.” I’m loud and I don’t care. I warned her.

She looks shocked, and then resigned as she storms out of the party. I look around for Olivia. She’s looking at me and her eyes are wet. Oh, Hell no. I take out my phone to text her.

Me: I had no clue she was still into me. You KNOW I don’t want her.

I see her look at her phone, but she doesn’t answer me right away. I’m about to go to her, her parents be damned, when she finally texts back.

Ollie: I DO know. It was just hard to see her kiss you. You pushed her off right away, so it’s all good :)

  Thank God.

Me: Meet me inside in 15 min? We can go up to one of the guest rooms. I NEED you again.

She smiles when she reads that message.

Ollie: I NEED you too. See you in 15!

I make the rounds and exchange some small talk with friends of the family. My family had all congratulated me already after the ceremony, but they do it again here. My brothers all give me shit about being the youngest, but I laugh it off. I go inside early to pick a room for us and then I text my wife.

At exactly the fifteen minute mark, she walks in the door, locking it behind her. I chose the girly room with the four poster king bed. It’s all pinks and flowers. “Ooh, I like this room.”

  “I knew you would.”

  “You know me so well.”

“I do. I know what’s going to make you come, too.”

“Oh yeah?” She stops at the end of the bed.

I pull her to me. “Yeah.”

I kiss her slowly at first, savoring her lips. She takes it deeper, curling her tongue around mine. Her hands are working, unbuttoning my shirt and then undoing my tie. I have my hands under her dress, pulling her thong down her legs. She steps out of it and then pulls my shirt off. I break the kiss for a moment to pull her dress over her head and then we both work on my pants.

Once we’re both naked, I scoot back on the bed with her on top of me. “You wanna ride, honey?”

  “God, yes.”

I groan as she climbs onto my erection and slides all the way down. We sit there for a moment, both caught up in how good it feels. Olivia reaches out and grabs the back of my head, taking my mouth again as she moves up and then down again. I grasp her hips even though I don’t need to help her. She knows our rhythm and sets it right away.

I move my mouth from her lips to kiss her jaw and then down to her neck. I bite her ear and then nibble on her neck and collarbone. She arches for me, knowing I want her tits. I take one in my mouth and suck on her nipple. After giving it the attention it deserves, I switch to
the other one. She’s losing control as I suck and lick them both, back and forth. My hands slide down and I use one to part her, while the fingers of the other one start rubbing her clit.

She’s bucking hard now, and I can feel myself getting close. I can only hold off for so long, which means I need to push her over. I let her nipple pop out of my mouth and tilt my head to whisper in her ear. “That’s it, Ollie, come for me.”

  “Close, Luke, so close.”

“What do you need besides my cock and fingers?” I know the answer but I want to hear it.

“Your mouth. Put your mouth back on me.”

I smile and then take a nipple back into my mouth, biting down on it this time. She screams and then comes hard on my cock. It’s more than enough to send me over, and I yell her name as I jerk my hips and start shooting everything I have into her. Once we both stop, she collapses onto me. We’re both breathing hard.

“I didn’t think it could keep getting better, but it does.”

  “Yes it does.”

“We should get back down there before they start looking for us.”

“I know. Is there any chance we could go down there together?”

I feel her stiffen. “I-I just can’t, Luke.”

“I had to ask.” Damn it. There goes my hopes for tonight. I try not to let her see how upset I am while we get dressed, but she’s my wife, and she knows.

“Soon, Luke. I promise. I love you.”

“I love you, too. Soon is good, though. I really want to tell my family.”

  “I know. Soon.”

I nod and then go back to the party first. Olivia comes out a minute later, and my mom calls everyone over to an area by the pool. I don’t know what’s going on, but she obviously has something planned. Knowing her, it will be pretty awesome.

“Thank you everyone for coming here to celebrate with us. We’re so proud of both Luke and Olivia, and I wanted to do something extra special for them. Could Tracy Childs please come forward?” I see Tracy walking up and smile. “Tracy was Luke’s favorite professor and helped guide him in his decision to become a teacher. I asked her to say a few words and bring a surprise with her.”

“Thanks, Maggie. I’m so pleased to be here. Luke is one of my favorite students ever, and I’m so happy to be here to give you your diploma. I know they’re supposed to be mailed, but I pulled some strings and got both yours and Olivia’s early.

“I have to say, when I asked you to tutor Olivia, I knew you’d help her graduate, but I couldn’t imagine what else would happen. I knew about your reputation around school, Luke, but I wasn’t worried about her becoming one of your conquests. And she didn’t. She became so much more. Before giving these to you, I want to congratulate you both on your marriage.”

There’s silence, which is quickly broken by Olivia’s mother. “Marriage? They’re not married.”

“Oh, well, Olivia’s diploma has ‘Griffin’ as her last name, and they were being mailed to the same address in Summerlin, so I just thought. I mean…I don’t know what to say now.”

I don’t look at Olivia as I come to Tracy’s rescue. “Congratulations was enough to say. Yes, Olivia’s my wife. We got married about two months ago.”

  “Luke! No. You promised!”

“I promised to keep it a secret, but the secret’s out now. We need to be honest.”

“You got married without us, Luke?”

“Yes, Mom, I’m sorry. I hated keeping this from you, and I’ll explain everything.”

  “You’ll get an annulment.”

  “Daddy, I can’t.”

“You’ve been with…with him? That way?”

“Did you not hear me say that we’ve been married almost two months, sir?”

“Stay out of this. How you coerced my daughter into this, I don’t know.”

  “I asked him.”

“What? Are you crazy? Who would want to marry him?”

“I need you to stop talking about my son like that.” My dad is getting mad, and the party is going downhill fast.

“We’re leaving. Come on, Olivia. We’ll discuss this at home and figure out how to get you out of this as fast as possible.”

“No. She’s not going with you,” I tell him. She won’t leave me. She’ll choose me. I know it.

“I need to talk to them, Luke.”

  “Don’t do this.”

  “I have to. I’m sorry.”

I feel like someone just ripped my heart out as I watch her leave. I thought when push came to shove, she’d choose me. How could I have been so stupid? I feel arms come around me and I know it’s Candi. She wanted Ollie to pick me, too, but she also warned me it might go this way. I should have listened to her and not given my heart away. It didn’t work for me in high school, so why would now be any different? At least I know I’m unlovable.

“Thank you again for coming, everyone. I hope you understand that we need to end the party early. Please take some food with you.” My mom gestures to the overflowing tables of food. There’s also a full table of desserts from Drago Sisters.

“I’m so sorry, Luke. I thought you just hadn’t told me. I didn’t know this was a secret.”

“It’s not your fault, Tracy. Thanks for everything.”

  “She loves you, Luke.”

“She has a funny way of showing it.”

Tracy sighs before answering. “Keep in touch, okay?”

“I will.” I hug her and then head inside the house with my family.

When everyone’s in the family room, I sit down and put my head in my hands. I know I need to talk, but I also need a minute to get my emotions under control. My wife just walked out on me less than a half hour after we were making love upstairs. It’s a lot to deal with. No one else speaks as they wait for me. I lift my head and begin.

“You all know how I was tutoring Olivia and it turned into more. Well, we were pretty much living together, but not. We alternated apartments and had things at each other’s places. It was great, and I was pretty satisfied. I mean, I had this wonderful woman who supported me and I could talk to anything about. Plus, I got to wake up with her every morning.

“Then her dad’s party happened. I told you I was practically kicked out. She chose them over me that night, too, or so I thought. I was sitting at my apartment, drinking and trying to forget that she didn’t stop me from leaving or go with me, when she came to me. She said she loved me and was sorry. I told her I didn’t think she was committed to our relationship. She looked me in the eye and asked me to marry her.

“Honestly, I already had a ring. I wasn’t going to ask her yet, but I knew I would one day. I was a little shocked, but she said she was sure that it was what she wanted. She did specify that we couldn’t tell anyone yet, but she wanted me to know she was completely committed to us.”

“You got married while you were drunk? Seriously, dude?”

“No, Scott, I didn’t get married while I was drunk. I got married the next day.”

  “It was beautiful.”

  “You were there, Alex?”

“Yeah, Grandma, I was. Rose and I helped Liv pick a wedding dress, and did her hair and makeup. I was Uncle Luke’s witness.”

“Well, I guess it’s good that someone from the family was there.”

“It killed me not to have everyone there, Mom, but I thought we could do another ceremony with everyone later. I know it was soon, but it felt so right to marry Olivia. It was like coming home.”

“If that’s how you felt, then it was right, Luke.”

“Thanks Dad, but you saw what happened today. Her parents won’t accept me, and she won’t break her ties with them. I mean, I get that she doesn’t want to. I couldn’t break ties with you guys, but you also would never make me choose.”

“No, we wouldn’t. I wish we could have been there to see you get married, Luke, but we can definitely host a second ceremony for you if things work out.”

  “I don’t think they’re going to, but thanks f
or the offer.”

“I’m so sorry, Luke. I was hoping she’d make the right choice when it came down to it.”

“Me too, Candi. I guess I just don’t mean enough to her.”

“Okay, I know this is going to be a shock coming from me, but I’ve been working on my issues, and I think you need to give her a chance to explain. She didn’t ask you for a divorce or some shit like that. She just said she needed to talk to her parents. Maybe she’ll tell them off.” It is a little bit of a shock coming from Scott since he’s always been so big on loyalty, and I wish he was right, but I don’t think he is.

“They have this crazy hold over her. She told me that she knows she’ll never please them, and she agreed with me when I told her they set expectations so high that she can never meet them. But she feels she has to try. For her and for Rose. She doesn’t want her sister to have the pressure moved to her. I get it. I really do. But these past couple of months have been hard, and I’m just done. I have to be, in order to protect what’s left of my heart.”

“So there was nothing good about the last two months, Uncle Luke? You were completely unhappy?”

My niece is always the one to call us out. I love her for it, even when it’s me she’s calling out. “I was happier than I’ve ever been in my life. Living in our house and knowing I’d see Olivia every night and every morning was Heaven. Even if she was studying and I was doing lesson plans, we were together.”

“Then why won’t you give her a chance?”

“I’m afraid of what her answer will be and I need to protect myself.”

“So you’re going to divorce her?”

I flinch at Candi’s question. Just the thought of not being married to Olivia causes me physical pain, but that is what I’m going to have to do. “Yeah. I guess I am. I need a lawyer.”

“If that’s what you want, I’ll get you the best. I assume you have no pre-nup.”

“No, Ry. It never even crossed my mind.”
