Mystery of The White Rose Serial Killer Page 9

by Zalman S. Davis

Here is a little something for you, something to show my appreciation for you. Use it wisely. Use it the way Aileen Wuornos did.

George fumbles the letter up and throws it against the wall.

What am I going to do? Why me? Why my bloody family? When is everything going to stop? He asks himself nearly crying.

He walks over to the bed again and lifts the gun out of the bag, he carefully un-cocks the gun. One bullet lays lodged inside the barrel. George cocks the gun and aims for the wall. He gazes through the telescope and fires. Upon firing the gun, the shiny silver bullet, or what was supposed to be a bullet, erupted and out front of the gun, hangs two little balloons with a note reading: Got Ya!

Out of furiousness George throws the gun hard onto the bed and rushes back into the lounge.

He peeps throughout the lounge window hoping that Barry would still be there and shows a zap sign.

George knows that he now has to run or hide because he might be next. Barry could be bluffing that he wants to keep him alive to tell the story.

Is George perhaps going to hear voices in his head like Anatoly Onoprienko to commit a murder, this of Barry, or is he going to get justice and see him from behind bars?

Beefcakes: the hub of Cape Town’s gay scene in the little heart of De Waterkant was emerging.

After the many murders which took place of Anna, Georges’ parents, Max and more, George became to greatly immerse himself in a world of bar-hopping and pub-crawling.

However, being straight and grieving the loss of his wife and also being single, George decided to immerse himself in the sexual gratification of chatting men up in the bars. The loneliness became unbearable.

Later the night, after having his eye set on a very young, handsome man, George decided to reel him in and test the waters.

“Hey, how’s it going?” the young man with his wavy black hair and dimple smile asked.

George stared at him with a straight face.

“Do you want to meet me in the bathroom?” he asked in a very polite, yet naughty manner.

Without hesitation the man accepted his invitation and together they went to the bathroom. After a few kisses and hugs up against the wall, George grabs the young lad by the hair and holds his head under the faucet until his last breath slowly bubbles away under the bright chlorine water.

Is George a transient drifter and a killer of loneliness? Has this sown the seeds for him to kill in order to feel better or is it just pure revenge?

  Chapter 18

  Kaboom!

You have one new text message.

George’s phone vibrated. He quickly reaches for his newly bought phone from his pocket and shoves it into his hand.

This time of the day a text message, really? He furiously mumbles under his breath.

George taps on the message icon and the message opens.

Unknown: Georgie Porgy, pudding and pie. I would like to congratulate you on the very dirty job you had done. It takes a real man to do so. We will eventually meet, just follow the clues and that shall be the treat.

The what? Was this lunatic watching my every move again? George thinks.

Another text message pops up on the screen.

Watch out for the fireworks, Georgie. It surely will be beautiful.

Fireworks - what the hell is he talking about? George mumbles under his breath.

With the thought still fresh in George’s mind, he suddenly hears the fixing sound of what is believed to be fireworks. He peeps through the window in the lounge and…kaboom! Flying bullets pierce through the window breaking it into hundreds of tiny shards. George drops to the ground.

  Silence…

After as few minutes he crawls away from the window and stands by an interior wall in the lounge discovering that a bullet had scraped a piece of flesh from his arm. He gets another text message.

Is nine bullets enough for your death, George, or should I send more?

When reading the message finish, George looks out the window again and sees an unknown white vehicle speed off into the distance.

Taunting messages are left in George’s possession. What will happen? Is this just another cat and mouse game?

  Chapter 19

The Mortuary Hut And The Arrest

After three hours on the flat, four-lane highways of Cape Town and the weather being perfectly clear, George came to realize that he is actually starving. Just before Klapmuts, he decides to stop at the Shell gas station to buy a pepper steak pie and a coke.

He parks the car in the parking bay nearest to the shop’s door and climbs out. Seconds after climbing out he feels his phone vibrate in his pocket – the vibration informing him that he has received another text message. He ignores it and walks inside the shop.

George had become a complete stranger to himself. His hair had become curly and sandy and his body was now just skin and bone – rake thin.

He grabbed a pie and coke from the fridge and walked up to the counter to pay. When placing the two items down on the counter, his eye catches an image on the television just above the cigarette rack. There is no sound - the TV had been put on mute. George’s eyes raise and see a perfectly clear image of him on the local news channel, E-News. A bold heading at the bottom of the screen rang “Infamous White Rose Serial Killer still at large.” Without paying and leaving the items just there, George rushes out the door and instantly hops into his car, turns the ignition on as fast as he can and speeds off leaving skied marks on the tarred parking bay.

Without thinking straight and banging his hands on the steering wheel, George speeds off onto the highway leading to Klapmuts.

When is everything going to stop? He yells out to himself in the car banging his hands even harder on the steering wheel. He then remembers that he had received a text message.

He looks in the rear-view mirror to see if any traffic is behind him, hits the indicator showing he is turning left and stops the car on the gravel beside the road’s shoulder. He turns the engine off, removes the phone from his pocket and reads. It’s a blank message from the same unknown number – Barry. While sitting in the car for a few more moments, George instantly decides to head back to Brackenfell – to see Detective Williams. He, however, knows that this might be a wrong move, but it has to be done to put a stop to everything.

He puts the car into gear and roughly turns around heading into the direction of Brackenfell.

Upon arrival at the police station, George stays in his car in the parking bay reserved for the disabled which is nearest to the door. Two uniforms stand outside by the front entrance smoking cigarettes.

“Where did he go?” George hears the one uniform ask the other.

The uniform takes a deep puff of his cigarette, leaving a grey cloud of smoke hover above their heads before answering.

“Detective Williams went down to the cemetery. He said there is something he needs to investigate. I asked if I could join him, but he brushed me off as quick as what I asked him.”

George gently taps his foot on the car’s floor and thinks.

Why would he be in the cemetery? George wonders to himself.

Instantaneously he puts the car into gear again and makes his way to the local cemetery situated just blocks from the police station.

George parks his car under an oak tree about a block away from the cemetery and decides to walk. In the distance he sees an unbranded white vehicle standing under a tree. Slowly, he walks closer, step by step and sneaks up into the cemetery behind a grave stone.

“Leave me alone! Leave me alone! I said leave me alone!” he hears a young woman cry out for help coming from the tiny mortuary hut.

George sneaks up to the hut and peeps through the window.

A woman with black hair, dressed in a beautiful silver dress lies on the cold cement floor with a man standing over her as if she is some kind of prey.

The man walks away from the woman, walks to the table standing in the middle of the room and walks back to her wi
th a knife in his hand. George records the whole scene on his cellular phone.

The man stabs once, twice, thrice and blood flows over the floor heading to the water gutter used for when washing the corpses.

Still recording, the man puts the knife in his pocket and walks to the door. George immediately identifies the man - it’s Detective Williams.

George moves away from the window and makes a run for it back to his car parked a block away. He hurryingly hops in and speeds off to the police station.

When arriving and parking his car recklessly, George rushes into the police station.

“I need to see the station commander,” he says while waving his phone in the air to the receptionist.

“Sir, keep calm,” the newbie officer says.

Knowing that he is wanted, he runs to the back of the police station and bangs on the station commander’s door. It’s not before long and he enters. The station commander sits behind his wooden desk.

“Please look here. I have video footage as to who the real killer is. It is not me,” George informs the commander and hands him the phone.

  The video plays.

  Silence… Silence… Silence…

He notices that it is Detective Williams. A pale look appears on the commander’s face. Just as the devil wants it, Detective Williams walks into the commander’s office with files under his arm.

“What is going on here? Mr. Knox, you are under arrest. You have the right to remain…” he says and gets interrupted.

“Williams, leave him,” the commander says and walks out from behind the desk to Detective Williams.

“You are under arrest. I have video footage of you murdering this girl,” he says showing the video to him.

Detective Williams stares at the phone out of despair.

“I will kill you, Georgie. I will come for you!”

George smiles and walks over to the door.

“Take his phone, commander, and call a Lindiwe and or T. It is his accomplices. They have harvested organs from a lot of corpses - from my family. The evidence is at the mortuary. Let the scumbag call them over.”

The commander stares at George and then looks at Detective Williams.

“Call them over now!” he orders Detective Williams.

With a smirk on his face, Detective Williams takes his phone and calls Lindiwe.

“Lindiwe, please come visit me at the station. Bring T with and if you have any new merchandise, bring it too,” he says and ends the call.

After quite some time of waiting and Detective Williams been moved to the holding cells, Lindiwe and T arrive at his office.

Upon entering the office, three officers stand with their guns raised at the two and order them down to the ground. Lindiwe lets the duffle bag drop onto the ground. T tries to make a run for it, but gets forced to the ground.

Two officers cuff them while another opens the duffle bag.

Organs…Organs… Organs – a bag full of different freshly harvested organs ready for the black market. On the sunny afternoon of Tuesday 23th December, the newspapers are full of juicy news articles - especially that of the White Rose Serial Killer.

Bags of evidence had been found in the mortuary of Langa and in the sangoma’s shanty. Different organs, drugs used to overpower their victims, and money.

George logs onto his Facebook page. ‘I’m finally FREE! The killer is behind bars. Anna, my parents, Max’s killer is behind bars. The investigation as to where Claire may be still continues. The court case begins on January 1st 2011.’

His online friends sent messages on how George deserves freedom and how relieved they are.

He could not be any happier knowing that he is a free man but the thought of his loved ones not being there anymore, makes his stomach turn for the very worst.

  Chapter 20

  Busted!

‘Barry Inns A.K.A. Larry Williams (Detective Williams) A.K.A Barry Inns V.S the State’ were the words written in bold black writing on the rough brown paper of the South African Police Services’ docket.

He sat in jail for nearly four months without an attorney.

A Cape Town judge announced that the fact Detective Williams had no attorney to defend him in the court of law, violated his right to a speedy trial, so he walks free.

The murders occurred in Cape Town, South Africa.

The local corrupt government tried to prosecute, but the judge dismissed the case because of a so-called problem with the evidence.

Then, the case got moved to a higher court where a judge had announced that Detective Williams’ constitutional rights were highly violated, and he was announced free.

Larry Williams, the corrupt cop arrested and charged on six counts of murder and one count of kidnapping and also for being an accomplice in organ harvesting was arrested in December of last year.

He appeared in court and was released on R2000 bail.

He failed to appear in court on the next scheduled court date and a warrant for his arrest was issued.

While on bail for the already committed six cases, Detective Williams, once again, went on his rampage and took another innocent life.

He was then arrested and granted bail of R2000 again.

If only he did not go on another bizarre rampage and accepted the judge’s verdict, he would’ve been a free man.

The case came onto the court roll once again and due to corruption and also being a police officer for the South African Police Services, he got a suspended sentence of ten years and was set as a free man. He, however, did lose his job.

With no clues needed to be looked into, George knew that the cat and mouse game between him, the law and Detective Williams is now over. He can mourn the death of his family and friends in peace. Well, so he thinks.

George walked around at the local fish market in Cape Town. Casually strolling through the different stalls looking for fish to buy for a friends gathering, he gets a tap on the shoulder by an unknown person. George turns around to see who it is, but the person dressed in black walked down the market lane disappearing into the crowd.

He sticks his hand into his hood’s pocket when something sharp pricks his finger making it bleed – a white rose with a red note.

George freezes and opens the note.

I will see you again, my friend. Relax, be safe, be happy and don’t let the bed bugs bite. Remember: The darkness is an element of weakness, a white rose: a symbol of death.
