Dragon's Lover: Part One Page 8

When her body had settled she expected him to pull away but he didn’t. Instead, he sank his fingers into her one more time and kissed the neatly-trimmed hair accenting her sex, tasting the drops of her arousal on his lips. It seemed that he didn’t want to let go any more than she did.

“I would eat you for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day for the rest of my life,” he said. Ashlyn thought she detected a tone of sadness in his voice.

“I would happily be your meal,” she told him, slipping up onto her elbows again. “But I need to taste you, too, please.”

She rose to her knees, a sweet, delicate sheen coating that wonderful place between her legs. Her hands moved to Aegis’s hips when he stood and stared at her.

“Take off your shirt,” she commanded.

His cock was rock hard for her and so he obliged, tearing his t-shirt over his head to reveal his bare torso for the first time. And dear God, it was magnificent. He had muscles that Ashlyn didn’t even know existed. Her inhibitions gone, she reached out and slipped her fingertips over the hard-edged beauty of them. They were glorious, sculpted to perfection. Good lord, was that a twelve-pack?

His jeans drooped down a little in the front to reveal what she’d always called the action-figure V, those pronounced lines that drew her eyes down towards an extraordinary bulge that begged to be revealed.

Aegis unzipped the jeans, staring down at her as she sat with her knees bent under her, watching him with the sexiest smile on her face. A low growl rattled up from deep within his throat, his Dragon purring its approval. Ashlyn thought she saw the flashing brightness return to his eyes that she’d noticed before his shift; that beautiful, feral cry of his body, telling her that he was both beast and man at once.

Slowly the shifter pulled his jeans down, letting them drop to the floor. And when he stood upright again, Ashlyn was greeted by a thick rod trying to tear its way through cotton boxer-briefs.

“Let me help you with that,” she said, slipping her feet to the floor and kneeling on the rug before him. With one hand she pulled his waistband away, the other taking possession of the extraordinary shaft that throbbed between her fingers. At the tip, a sweet, clear drop of nectar summoned her tongue, and as she let his underwear drop, she obliged by giving him a gentle, teasing lick.

  * * *

Aegis gasped under her touch, another growl rising up as he forced his Dragon back. No, we can’t be inside her, he told his déor. But this…this is good.

Her lips were around his shaft now, her slim fingers stroking his thighs, feeling his muscles. She worked him slowly, focusing on just the head of his cock for now. Prolonging his pleasure and tormenting him with it. She was a goddess, this Ashlyn Raleigh.

“That’s it,” he whispered, “just like that.” He was staring down at her, at that long, beautiful mane cascading around her shoulders. Tendrils of blond hair fell about her breasts, tips teasing those pink, hard nipples of hers as she knelt. She was a siren, a temptress with no ill will. She was the treasure he’d always wanted.

Both her hands grasped him now, their touch light as they stroked their way up and down his length. She was so delicate, yet so strong, this one. Aegis drew his head up, eyes focused on the ceiling. It was too good, watching her. His Dragon, deep inside him, was as pleased as he was to have this beautiful creature tending his human body. But his human body wanted what the beast did: to be inside her. To take her hard, mercilessly. To explode hot seed inside her, to change her life for the better, and to take away his solitude. If he did this, she would be his. She would be stronger. She would stay.

But he wouldn’t. Not until she demanded it. Not until she promised to stay in England, with him.

When he did come at last he cried out, all the pain inside him banished for a moment, purged from his body. He gave her what he could, gave her his vulnerability, his trust. He pressed deep into her mouth as his fists clenched in her tangled hair, his cock pulsing over and over as she sucked, relishing his gift. It was the greatest feeling in the world. But it was so, so devastating.

With his own release, he’d released her.

  Epilogue

Ashlyn awoke at 5 a.m. She’d fallen asleep in Aegis’s arms, warm and happy, her head resting on his chest. But he was gone now, no doubt back to his own bed, and the house was silent. She missed him already but it was probably for the best that he’d left her alone. This would have been too hard if he’d stayed with her, his naked body calling out silently from its place under the sheets.

Rolling onto her side, she turned on the lamp next to the bed and looked over to the chair that sat by the room’s large window. Her satchel was still there, undisturbed. Even though she trusted Aegis, she breathed a sigh of relief to see that he hadn’t touched it.

She rose and dressed in the previous day’s clothes, chuckling as she realized that her panties had been quite torn up by the Dragon shifter’s powerful hand. A memento of an English night of passion, she supposed.

When she’d put her socks on she picked up her boots and slipped out of the bedroom and down the hall.

The plan was simple: get out quickly and find her way to the train station. But first she’d leave a note for the man who’d planted himself deep inside her mind. She’d sever their ties with her words; she’d tell him the night had been pleasant but she needed to keep moving. Thank him for helping her, for his gracious hospitality. But much as she wanted to, she wouldn’t thank him for his beautiful cock, or for his incredible tongue’s magical touch. She wouldn’t thank him for changing her life or for opening her heart to something very close to love at first sight.

  She would simply leave.

And then she would try like hell to forget that she’d ever met a Dragon shifter named Aegis Dunkirk.

Ashlyn stared out the train’s window at the passing landscape, clutching her satchel to her torso as she leaned her forehead against the cold glass.

The few hours she’d spent with Aegis in Oxford had been incredible. Magical, even. But now she needed to return to London and try her best to forget about his existence, if that was even possible. She couldn’t begin to imagine how anyone could forget such a man, the sensation of his fingers on her skin, his lips caressing her own. He was branded on her now, his face burned into her heart and mind. He was the sort of man a woman never got over.

And yet she had no choice.

In a lazy effort to distract herself she unbuckled her satchel and opened its flap, reaching deep inside to seek out her treasure. Her hand wrestled for a moment with the bag’s contents, working its way to the narrow, cool cylinder that sat at the base. She wrapped her fingers around it, trying to renew her strength and resolve, to tell herself she was doing the right thing by leaving Aegis behind.

She pulled the dark grey tube out of her bag. It was cold to the touch as always, its metal exterior dull and unmarked. She unscrewed its two halves, gingerly extracting the rolled-up parchment from within and unfurling it in her hand. The words scrawled on the yellowed paper were finally starting to take on meaning, though the puzzle was not yet complete. Perhaps Aegis could have helped her with it. But she’d never know. Not now.

The tube and the note inside had been among the items that Ashlyn’s adoptive parents had given her, apparently discovered in her cradle. Another strange item that had survived the inferno. And as she read the verse, her mind went to the parents she’d never known. To the life that stood before her, a mystery made all the more mysterious by the words printed on the small piece of paper in her palm.
