Glossary
Abraham (bible) – A patriarch in the bible brought up to support the Herewardi practice of plural marriage.
Adam (bible) – The first man created by God in the bible.
Aegir the Ground Shaker – One of the Gods of the Seas.
Aegthejiof – A Herewardi loremaster and friend of Rabbi Amschel.
Aelfheah – A son of Sur Sceaf and Lana as well as the stud master and horse breeder of Powers. AKA Aelfy.
Aelfy – see Aelfheah
Aetheling – means “The Young Prince” Pyrsyrus calls Sur Sceaf this.
Aethelos – Chief Scribe at Witan Jewell
Aethelstan – A noble Herewardi warrior and Geneal who told Ilkchild that it is not easy to kill a man.
Ahy – Nickname for Taneshewa
Ahyyyokah – Also shortened for a nickname as Ahy and is Taneshewa’s first name.
Albigensians – an ancient race of people whose seed is preserved alive in the Herewardi race.
All King, the – see Sur Spear
All-Father – Odhin.
Ancient One, the – A name by which some refer to Odhin but also to old wayfarers and travelers.
Andrimnir – Son of Jorgmungand and first heretoga of the Kaninchens.
Angrar – The god of the Pitters which is the one and only god they zealously worship.
Annie Welsh – Wife of Khem as well as a close friend of Sur Sceaf. She is one of the few remaining Blacks freed from Pitter enslavement camps and chose Khem as the only Black Man she ever knew.
Apache Tribe – Another name for the Ndee who are located in the Arid Zone and throughout the White Mountains. They are one of the more successful tribes in repelling the Pitters, who will take great measures to avoid them.
Ariel – The young son of Turfrida and Rabbi Amschel ben Levi.
Arundel III – Sur Sceaf and Paloma’s firstborn son and heir apparent of the Herewardi Kingdoms. He was a man of great expectations.
Arundelean Mountain Range – sometimes called the Woonburgen and represented a great barrier for the most part to the Pitters.
Aryfae – One of Sur Sce
af’s daughters.
Athelstan (the Wise and Noble) – Spokesperson for the Twelvers of the Roufytrof.
Avaroth – A place
Baldur – The most beautiful and beloved of the gods who was killed on accident by a mistletoe twig shot into his eye through the trickster Loki’s plot. Before he was killed he begat the ancestor of one of the Herewardi bloodlines, a bloodline of extreme beauty and comeliness destined to fulfill many great prophecies of the latter days and the coming time of refreshment when the Gods would come forth among the sons of men in great glory..
Baldureans – a clan of Herewardi who claim direct bloodline descent from the God Baldur.
Balmoran Rogues – A Rogue tribe of humans from Balmor on the Chesapeake, allied with the Pitters in building their seafaring vessals.
Balmors, the – People who come from or live in the city of Balmor on the East Coast in the land of Merry Land.
Bear Jim – A mountain man that lives in Coke Hill. He is known for hunting bears with hounds and being a rough and rowdy man.
Bear Killer – Chief of the Frink Glen Clan, asks Sur Sceaf for aide to defeat the Pitter legions attacking his settlement.

Beaver Marsh – teeming marshes of the high desert.
Beoelf Sweet Tongue – A commander of one of Melyngoch’s fyrds, and an accomplished scribe.
Billy Weasel – A past lover of Mendaho and fellow Klamath Tribesman who jilted her. He is a life long friend of Standing Bull, and a far-seer.
Black Wolf, the – the mythical representation of death, time, and destruction among the Herewardi.
Bnimmin – youngst son of Rabbi Amschel.
Bounders, The – the tribes of rogue peoples surrounding the Poisoned Lands.
Brekka – The pugnacious daughter of Sur Sceaf and Lana who desires to be a shield-maiden and the first Lady Knight. AKA Little Red Fox, Copperlocks
Bronoak – Son of Hermod, second heretoga of the Half-King Kanarus. Aides Mesculera in rescuing the Quailor children from the Pitters and Growling.
Bruna – A cute Quailor girl. Flirts with the young bloods, Ilkchild, and Redelfis. Gets pregnant out of wedlock.
Brunswan – Turfrida’s mother. Sur Spear’s 13th wife.
Buffalo Woman – a woman of divine mission destined and fated to prepare and make straight the way of the Red Men.
Bull Bear – A Red Man chief.
Bull Bear – Leader of a Red Man clan.
Bulwylf – a cattleman of renown who was drowned in a pond by his own raging bull.
Burnt Tobacco – Chief of the Frink Glen Band of the Klamath Tribe and father of Mendaho.
Caballo Blanco – a Mexus term for the White Horse Society.

Cha’Kal, The – see Scynscatha
Chaucer – Sur Spear’s horse.
Cherokee Tribe – Once one of the most powerful tribes of red men, but now are many tribes. Some are headquarted among the Hickoryans of the Southeast, others in Tahlequa, and now, their greatest Chief, Onamingo has led many of them to the DiAhman in the West. Their great nation is scattered from the Aegirean Sea in the East to the Aurvandilean Sea in the West.
Cheyenne Tribe – One of the Buffalo Nations of the Montan.
Children of Ish – one of the earliest Pitter progenitors.
Chipmunk – see Going Snake
Citriodoran – a once great city-state situated in the south of the Kalifornias which through corruption fell prey to the Pitter Legions.
Clotilde – A wife of Sur Spear, known for her divisive nature. She was banished from Sur Spear’s swannery and resides in Charly’s Harbor with her son Melyngoch where she instigated the trial of Gal Fawkes v. Lord Sur Sceaf so as to further her son’s political standing.
Colomba Rogues – A Rogue tribe of whites composed mostly of fisherman along the Colomba River. They become allies of the three tribes and are often referred to as the River Folk.
Comanche – A Rogue tribe of the Buffalo Nations, operating out of the mountains of the Taxus. Mostly wiped out but making a comeback.
Council of Chiefs – The informal cohesive body of chiefs from all red men tribes.
Council of the Three Tribes, the – The council made up of representatives from the Herewardi, Sharaka, and Quailor tribes. Created in an effort to pool resources and engender intertribal cooperation.
Council of Women – The appendant leadership body of the Herewardi. They determine whether the Herewardi will go to war or not and make all domestic laws.
Coyote – A Red Man healer and tracker. He is known for healing people who have been traumatized. Helps the Scheible girls come to terms with the evils they witnessed.
Crooked Jack – A Herewardi fyrd commander under Sur Sceaf and Sur Spear. He is a gravely battle hardened and deeply trusted advisor to Sur Sceaf. The jack-daw is his family sigil and thus he is sometimes referred to as Jacky Doo.
Dak – Shortened nickname of Mendaka.
Dancing Rabbit – Wife of Onamingo and mother of Taneshewa. She is from the Cherokee tribe.
Dark Ard Elves – see Dark Elves.
Dark Elves – A race of beings not of this world, who abuse humanity through their superiority of dark magic. They’re ultimate aim is to possess and dominate worlds.
Dark Hag Queen, the – See Gloomulah

David (bible) – A mighty king and warrior of the bible.
Deep Voice – A Sharaka Chief. He is put in charge of organizing the Hickoryans and Presters while at DiAhman. He plays the role of the Booger Chief in the Booger Dance.
Deliverer of Captives, the – see Kanarus
Dina – A servant in Paloma’s house, from the Arap tribe of Mooslim descent. One of Arundel’s fiances.
Divine King – The archetypal king. The king energy.
Dog Soldiers – The title given to Red Men braves.
Dominikers – Humans who serve the Pitter Empire as merchants, and tax and tithe collectors among all nations under their thumb.
Don Guerra – Leader of the Mexus. Reported many of the comings and goings of the Pitters in their land to the Herewardi. Supplied the information on some rumors circulating about the Growlings and why they are capturing young women.
Don the Umpquan – A tracker of some renown. Tracks the Pitter legions to Coke Hill, leads Melyngoch with his armies to the canyon in which the Pitters have been trapped.
Donya Margarita del Borego – The second wife of Pyrsyrus. An Espagnol woman from the Taxus. Was the wife of Ilker before he was lost in battle.
Dori Linsner – A Quailor survivor of the Salem Massacre. Rescued at Woonstone by Sur Sceaf’s fyrds
Dori Scheible – A young Quailor woman traumatized by the evils she witnessed the Pitters commit.
Dosip – nick name of a young Quailor boy driving a wagon that gets stuck in the mud. See Yosepf for actual name.
Dycons – Men who form an administrative body of the Quailor, operating under the High Priests.
Earindil (Star) – the ancient name of the Morning and Evening Star.
Edith (of Mt. Skell) – Mother of Ethelflaeda, who marries Ilkchild.
El Judio – see El Yid
El Shaddai – The name Abraham of the bible ascribes to God.
El Yid – AKA Zeru-Herwardi. El Yid is the son of Rabbi Amschel ben Levi and Turfrida the Herewardi. He is a young blood and considers himself both a Jywd and Herewardi. He is especially skilled at sea, andis on the path to be an excellent naval officer.
Elder Moot – Another name for the Roufytrouf or Syr-Alfim.
Elf Olf – Commander of the fyrd at Hrusburg. Leads the trekkers through the town.
Elfbeard – Once a warrior who served under Sur and Sur Spear. He was most known for his hunting skills and hounds and was a beloved friend of Sur Sceaf. He has a back story of being the rejected lover of Sagwi when they were young, but because of his practicing of pol
ygamy she chose another whom she did not love as well.
Elfhava – Sister of Ilkchild. Twin to Ilklilith. Arundel’s fiancé.
Elfhere – A Herewardi tracker sent to find the stolen Quailor children.
Elfsmith – See Govannon
Elijah von Hollar – The brother of Ludwig von Hollar and chief high priest of the Quailor. Sur Sceaf’s great uncle and ally of the alliance of the three tribes.
Elohim – The gods of the Jywds.
Elrus – A past prophet and seer who had open communion with the gods and the Elves and other heavenly beings. It is he who established the Elven Monestaries in Taxus.
Elwas, the – It is the rune of power.
Elwod – Sur Sceaf’s son. He is skilled with horses, and is being prepared to take Arundel’s place as the steward of flocks, so that Arundel may eventually journey away from Witan and Namen Jewell.
Emperor of Pitterdom – Hryre Seath
Ethelflaeda – Daughter of Olf and Edith of Mt. Skell. Marries Ilkchild during the May Fest.
Ethelfric – Father of Sur Spear’s steward, Wycliff.
Eugeners – Human Rogue Tribesmen who due to their mistrust of the polygamous Herewardi formed an alliance with the Pitters, thus allowing the Pitters to build a Zonga on the Whilamut whereby they had a foothold into the West.
Ev’Rhett – A son of Sur Sceaf and Swan Hilde. One of “The Twins.” Twin to Russell. A mischievous little boy.
Eva Scheible – A Quailor survivor of the Salem Massacre. Rescued at Woonstone by Sur Sceaf’s fyrds. Sister to Dori Scheible. She is also traumatized by the evils of the Pitters.
Evangeline – The deceased wife of Hartmut Hagele, slain by a Pitter Rat Pack when ambushed during a berry picking foray.
Eve (bible) – The first woman God created in the bible.
Evil Generation, the – The civilizations that preceded the current generation and were destroyed by the earth changes, burning stars, and their own pernicious and contentious ways.
Eye of Howrus – believed to be the all watchful eye of the Longfather Howrus.
Face-of-Stars – A young Tlingit woman. The daughter of Raven’s Tongue. She is a budding medicine woman, knowledgeable in plants and medicines.
Faechild – Sur Sceaf’s third wife and of royal Baldurean descent. Sister of Ilkchild and daughter of Ilker.
Faehunig – Lover that rejected Long Swan and eloped with his best friend Saxwulf on the day she was meant to wed Long Swan.
Faeimp – A Herewardi “beard” or spy under the guise of a Hickoryan trader. She is married to Hickathrift.
Faewylf – Second wife of Pyrsyrus. Daughter of Lord Saxwylf. Travels with Pyrsyrus to escort the three tribes to Witan Jewell.
Fergenstream – brother of the Wose, cousin to Sur Sceaf, he rules the Southern Herewardi Kingdom in the Kalifornias while his brother is absent from Stony Ford. Provides intelligence from Mys-Isis region of the growing Pitter threat.
