Dead Wrong (Jason Justice Mystery Book 2) Page 23

by Ralph Zeta

I don’t move an inch. I want to move, but I’m unable to so.

When she’s three feet away, I hold her pale lime gaze and muster the strength to say something befitting the moment.

  “Miss me?”

She stops, considers me with a long skeptical look.

Uh-oh. Alarms are blaring in my head.

“I think the better question is . . .” she says and then, nothing. I study her face but come up empty. Hieroglyphics are easier to read.

I watch as her lips crease into a wicked smile, then, “Did you miss me?”

I feel a huge, uncontrollable grin take over my face. “You have no idea,” I admit.

She wraps her long arms around me and draws me in close and I return the embrace.

  No, definitely not a mistake.

  Acknowledgments

When I undertook the task of writing the first Jason Justice novel, Cry For Justice, I never imagined how many people would eventually read, let alone take the time to reach out and express how much they enjoyed reading the novel. And, it is precisely because of those readers that Jason Justice comes alive again among the pages of Dead Wrong.

Many individuals contributed their time, wisdom, vision and talents to this project, and I am so grateful to them all, but I am especially grateful to those who went the extra mile and offered their time, expertise and friendship. To Gabi Darcey, Dr. Wells Heinz, Josh Terrell, Karen Weinberg, Diana Wilkin, B. C. and others who shall remain nameless, my heartfelt thanks for your input, advice and endless encouragement.

It is next to impossible for a writer, any writer, to succeed in the ultracompetitive publishing world without the help and guidance of a talented editor. I have had the fortune and privilege of working with one of the best. To Michael Carr, thank you so much. No one does it better.

Last but not least, I would like to thank my daughters, Carly and Alex. Your support, love and encouragement have meant the world to me.
