For smaller jobs, special trucks resembling moving vans were designed especially for Eichmann. Once loaded with Jews, carbon monoxide from the truck motor was piped into the van, killing those inside. At home in the Reich, Jews from the Balkans were dying by the thousands in camps such as Bergen-Belsen; Dachau; Buchenwald.
In the east, to deal with the increasing number of Jews coming from Russia as transportation improved, camps such as Treblinka were built, while the ovens at Auschwitz were enlarged to a capacity of 6 thousand a day. But the Nazi tides of fortune were turning, at Stalingrad and El Alamein. Hitler’s armies were first stopped, then pushed back, then destroyed. Eichmann, in his office on Kurfuerstenstrasse in Berlin continued the mass murders, using methods which had become routine.
By spring of 1944 the Russian armies had reached Romania and Hungary, and Hitler ordered the removal of all Jews from Hungary before it became a front-line combat zone. Eichmann was chosen as the perfect man for the job, promoted to commander of all security police in Hungary, and moved into a suite at the Hotel Majestic in Budapest where he could direct operations more easily.
As Russian troops entered a section of the Carpathians, on the 8th of April, 1944, the roundup began. By the 15th of May, over 300,000 Jews were in ghettos, coming from surrounding territories in Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia as well as Hungary. Before the roundup had been finished, the first shipments had already left for Auschwitz with 90 men, women and children to one cattle car, without food. A total of over 400,000 Jews were deported from that one area alone before the roundup was over. At Auschwitz the ovens worked 24 hours a day, while supplementary burning-pits were dug to help with the surplus Jews.
Eichmann offered to “sell” 70,000 Jews to the allies in exchange for 10,000 trucks, the exchange to be made in neutral Turkey. The deal was not accepted, but it didn’t matter to Eichmann as he had already executed the Jews which he had promised in return for the trucks. In his opinion, he could always find 70,000 Jews when he needed them.
He sold 2,784 Jews to Hungary for 5 million Swiss francs; Jews which had been taken in Hungary to make them more valuable. But Hitler had heard about the transaction and consequently gave Himmler a verbal thrashing which put an end to the sale of concentration camp inmates.
On July 20, 1944, Hitler was almost killed in the bomb plot against him by a group of army officers. As a result of this, Himmler was given more power, including the command of army group vistula, and Eichmann also was given more authority.
He returned to Berlin; Hungary being almost entirely in Soviet hands by now, and also because Hitler, as a result of the sale of the Hungarian Jews, had ordered that “no concentration camp inmate must fall into allied hands alive!”
With his new-found authority, Eichmann began to sharpen his attacks on the Jews; now they were no longer arrested and packed off to some remote extermination camp, they were hunted down in the streets and machine gunned on the spot.
But as the Reich crumbled, Eichmann didn’t commit suicide. As did Himmler and many other top Nazis, he tried to escape. Captured by the Americans while wearing the uniform of a Luftwaffe private, he was interned as a common soldier. He escaped in 1946, and spent the next three years hiding out in various parts of Germany. Then, by way of Spain, he escaped to Argentina.
With plastic surgery hiding his once childlike face, he was joined by his wife and three children. But the Jews, of whom so many had died at his hands, were hunting him.
In 1958, when his wife returned to Linz to renew a passport, Israeli agents picked up the trail which led them to the mass-murderer. Eichmann was fond of women. An Israeli agent got in touch with one of them. She, fortunately, had the only picture of Eichmann as he looks today. This led to his capture. Near the end of May, of this year, Eichmann was captured by Israeli agents in Buenos Aires as he walked down the street towards his home.
Hitler’s Hideout
But Karl Adolf Eichmann, Hitler’s mass murderer of six million Jews was only one of many top Nazi war criminals who escaped and sought refuge in Argentina. His capture has now put the spotlight on the secret hideout of Adolf Hitler and his henchmen in a desolate area of Patagonia.
It is definitely known that hundreds of Nazi war criminals are now living there; among them Martin Bormann, deputy Fuhrer. This was confirmed by former US Ambassador, Spruille Braden, who tracked down seventy-one wanted top Nazis and urged the Argentine Government to arrest and deport them. But the Nazi influence was so powerful that no action was taken. Even the personal secretary and confidant of Dictator Juan Peron was the son of Ludwig Freude, Hitler’s chief agent in South America. Freude was entrusted with $400,000,000 in transferred Nazi funds from Germany, according to the US State Department.
These Nazi funds bought a huge slice of Argentine territory; many thousand square miles of ranchland in the provinces of Rio Negro and Chubut, a part of Patagonia. These ranches, surpassing even the vast Texas holdings of the richest cattlemen in the United States, were settled by leading Nazis who had been secretly landed at Mar Del Plata by U-boats immediately after the war and who are still there.
The landing base was so heavily guarded, Allied Intelligence agents reported, that they were unable to learn the identity of all the important Nazis who disembarked.
Whether Hitler and Eva Braun were among them has never been determined, but it is evident that Hitler did not commit suicide.
If Eichmann could have escaped, Hitler could easily have done the same since he had greater means at his disposal.
The reports of Hitler’s death was a complete hoax to cover up his escape and prevent a worldwide manhunt for him. Eyewitness accounts of his purported death and fake photos of Der Fuehrer’s corpse were circulated to confuse the investigators. It is a known fact that Hitler had several doubles.
“We found absolutely no evidence of Hitler’s death in Berlin” said Col. W. F. Heimlich chief of US Intelligence in Berlin, who had conducted the official investigation. “He could easily have made his get-a-way by plane from outside the Reichchancellery area before the fall of Berlin,” Col. Heimlich explained.
“Analysis of the couch stains where Hitler reportedly killed himself revealed that the stains, while they were human blood, was not of the blood type of Hitler. There were no bullet holes in the couch or in the wall behind it.”
Col. Heimlich further discounted the rumors that Hitler’s body was burned in the courtyard outside his bunker.
“We dug up everything in the courtyard. Two screens were erected, one of wire mesh similar to chicken wire and behind it a second one much finer with half inch holes. Every shovel full of dirt from the bomb-crater went first through the wide screen and next through the small screen in the hope that any small piece of evidence showing the presence of a human body might be quickly detected.
“The X-ray photographs of Hitler’s head gave us expert clues as to his dental structure and even one tooth might have been sufficient to identify his body. But nothing was unearthed that gave us any evidence that Hitler had been burned or buried there.”
Like Eichmann, it is reasonable to assume that Hitler escaped and also had plastic surgery to make him unrecognizable. But Israeli secret agents with their fanatic cloak-and-dagger operation and unlimited funds may someday shock the world by finding Hitler’s Hideout and probably the Fuhrer himself.
ADOLF HITLER’S FAKE SUICIDE!
by HARVEY WILSON
There is a deep and significant motive behind the Soviet’s sudden interest in trying to convince the world of Adolf Hitler’s death …
Today the Kremlin is making desperate efforts to erase from the world’s memory their own previous announcements that “Hitler is alive.”
Close on the heels of the announcement that Israeli agents had finally brought the mass-murderer Adolf Eichmann to justice came a flood of not-so-cleverly disguised Communist propaganda designed to “prove” that Adolf Hitler was dead. But their hasty, slipshod attempts have failed. Another big Soviet
lie has been disproved and the reasons for their clumsy cover-up of Hitler’s escape revealed.
This propaganda took many forms, as devious as they were numerous, but in spite of all the items of “conclusive proof” suddenly brought forward by Red leaders, it remained nothing more than propaganda. There is, for example, the now-famous photograph purporting to show Hitler’s body shortly after his suicide, as it lay in the garden of the Reichschancellery in Berlin. With it came the incredible story that lay behind this photograph.
The Communist leaders would have us believe that the Russian news agency, Tass, discovered the photograph when it was printed by chance in an obscure local Soviet newspaper, Kazakhstan Pravda.
Tass then claimed that the editors of this small-town journal “just happened” to discover the photo among the effects of a local citizen who had recently died.
This Soviet citizen was supposed to have been an ex-soldier named Ilya Sianow. Tass asserted that Sianow had been a private in the 176th Soviet Guard Division, the outfit which captured Berlin in May, 1945.
On the way to Berlin, Sianow’s division passed through Liepsig. There Sianow “liberated” a motion picture camera and carried it with him to the Reich capital.
Phony Photo
On the evening of May 1, Sianow’s platoon was ordered to attack the Germans defending the garden at the rear of the Reichschancellery where the entrance to Hitler’s underground bunker was located. Sianow was the first soldier to enter the garden, and—so the Soviets allege—he took time from the battle to shoot some pictures of the Fuehrer’s body, and only then did he continue in the attack.
After the war the camera and its pictures accompanied Sianow back to his peasant hut somewhere in the interior of the USSR, and there the prints lay forgotten for 15 years. By some remarkable coincidence, these photos were discovered shortly after Eichmann’s capture, and offered to the world as positive proof of the dictator’s death. Only one thing went wrong with the Red lie: it didn’t work.
First, the photo directly contradicted the official Nazi version of Hitler’s death, so much so in fact that Eric Kempka, Hitler’s chauffeur who was with him in those last Berlin days, branded the photograph a “downright fake.”
For one thing, the body was supposed to have been burned with 180 liters of gasoline, yet the corpse in the photograph clearly shows no burns.
Hitler was supposed to have shot himself through the mouth, yet the photo clearly shows the bullet hole in the forehead.
Hitler was supposed to have been cremated and buried in the garden of the chancellery, yet when Sianow took his photograph 24 hours later, the body had somehow gotten back into the bunker, as the background of the photo shows.
Confronted with this unanimous rejection, even from those old-guard Nazis who wish to keep Hitler’s escape a secret, the Reds dropped the subject. But that was not the last they heard of it.
It seems that someone in Tass didn’t get the word from above to forget about the photo, and disastrously released the news that the picture was indeed a forgery, and in reality was taken from a semi-documentary film made by the Soviet movie industry in 1950, on direct orders from Stalin. This film used actors and stage settings instead of newsreel clippings. The government of the USSR has not mentioned this photograph since, for even if the incredible story about Private Sianow were accepted, the overwhelming proof of forgery could not be overlooked, not even by the Communists.
Besides, the Reds now had more tricks ready up their sleeve.
One was the testimony of Marshal Zhukov, conqueror of Berlin in 1945, who flatly stated on June 10 of that year:
“We have found no corpse that could be Hitler’s. Hitler had good opportunities for getting away. He could have taken off at the very last moment, for there was a plane ready and an airfield at his disposal.”
Colonel General Nikolai E. Berzarin, the Soviet Berlin commander who conducted the on-the-spot investigation into Hitler’s reported death at the Reichschancellery bunker, was emphatic that Hitler had escaped from the smoldering rubble of Berlin. He declared:
“My personal opinion is that Hitler disappeared into Europe.”
This opinion was supported by Stalin himself. At the Potsdam Conference in August, 1945, President Truman was reported to have asked one important question of Stalin: Was Hitler Dead?
Stalin replied with characteristic bluntness: “No.”
A Tower of Lies
But since then the Communists’ line changed as it always does when they find it convenient to evade the truth. Directly after Eichmann’s capture last year, Zhukov started singing a different tune. Now, he declared, Hitler is dead. No evidence, no motive for the about-face; just the plain statement of “fact.” This sudden, unexplained switch caused Zhukov a loss of face within the Soviet Union. It was done on the express orders of Zhukov’s superiors, and for no other reason.
Another attempt to prove that Hitler no longer lives was made when the Russian government “allowed” a certain story to filter out of the country, once again shortly after the arrest of Eichmann. This story asserts that as Stalin lay on his deathbed in the Kremlin in 1953, he informed his doctors that his beloved yellow ashtray—a yellow, shallow bowl about 5 inches across that he always kept at his bedside—was actually made from the top of Hitler’s skull. This rumor, which was really spread by Communist agents throughout the world on orders from Moscow, was supposed to have traveled through the Russian medical circles, and then siphoned out into the free world by way of international medical conventions. Few people if any accepted the tale, and then it too was quietly dropped by the Reds.
Another closely related story was circulated in much the same manner and concerns a personal museum which Stalin kept hidden somewhere in the sub-basement of the Kremlin. This museum, where Stalin was supposed to have spent many hours gloating over his conquest of the Third Reich, was reported to contain articles from Hitler’s last days in Berlin, including the remains of the dictator himself, all neatly encased in a pressurized glass coffin. Investigation of this particular story shows several interesting facts: namely, that Stalin never mentioned anything about the existence of such a museum, that no one ever saw it while Stalin was alive, or since his death.
Cunning Purpose
Many of the other less spectacular attempts by the Communists to cover the escape of Adolf Hitler serve a definite and cunning purpose. While the West German government, when they officially declared Hitler dead on October 25, 1956, were primarily concerned with stopping the growth of new Nazism within West Germany itself, the Reds are thinking in terms of their puppet state of East Germany.
The definite connection and timing of this sudden onset of Soviet propaganda with Eichmann’s capture cannot be overlooked. Before Eichmann was found hiding in Argentina, very few people believed it possible that a high-ranking Nazi official could have escaped from the closing ring of allied might in Europe.
Then, on December 20, 1960, came the startling revelation that another big Nazi war criminal had been discovered in a small town near Hamburg, Germany.
He was Richard Baer, former major in the SS Corps, wanted on charges of mass murder. As last commandant of the infamous Auschwitz concentration camp, he was supposed to have sent thousands of Jews to their deaths in the gas ovens. Nazis who had preceded him as heads of the camp, including the notorious Rudolph Hoess, had already been executed on the same charge.
Like Eichmann, his former boss, Baer has been presumed dead. Unlike Eichmann, he didn’t hunt cover in a foreign country, but stayed put in Germany. It was not until October of last year that authorities learned that Baer might be alive.
How Top Nazi Was Caught
In answer to a reward of nearly $2500 for information leading to his capture, the German state attorney was tipped off that a master lumberjack called Neumann, living with his wife in a hut on the Prince Bismarck estate in Dassendorf, might really be Baer.
Samples of the lumberman’s handwriting were obtained and com
pared with those of Baer’s. They checked. Police with drawn guns crept up on the cabin.
Facing the authorities, “Neumann” at first denied that he was Baer, but when his wife came out of the cabin and asked, “Oh, daddy, what’s happened?” he broke.
“All right, I’m Baer,” he admitted. He was taken into custody. For 15 long years, this man had successfully evaded capture, though he was hunted as a fugitive by an entire nation.
The long-delayed discovery and capture of Eichmann in the Argentine and Baer in Germany gave the world convincing evidence that other high-ranking Nazis, formerly checked off as dead, have also escaped.
If these relatively minor cogs of the once-powerful Nazi machine could have avoided recognition and capture for 15 years, then surely Hitler and Martin Bormann, with their greater power and influence, have done the same. They must be alive today. All evidence points to that fact.
No one realizes this more than the hierarchy of the Communist world. For several important reasons, the fate of Hitler is giving the Soviets great concern.
Naturally they want revenge for the damage and suffering caused by Hitler’s legions during the war. But there is a much deeper, much more significant motive behind this sudden interest. That is the cold war.
As long as Hitler remains hidden, he constitutes a potential threat to the Communist as well as the free world. Those nations under Communist domination are a sterile breeding ground for any effective Nazi movement because of the strict political control by the Communist party, the Red Army, and the ever-watchful MVD. The reason the Soviets want to prove that Hitler is dead, is to destroy the hopes and dreams of the Nazis still remaining in East Germany, of ever returning to power.
While the sudden reappearance of Hitler might not seriously disturb the internal situation of these countries, the Soviet propaganda machine then would accuse the free nations of conspiring to harbor the No. 1 Nazi war criminal. The Soviet Union, in short, has nothing to lose and very much to gain by covering up and “authenticating” Hitler’s death.
