"I thought you wanted to start work? All of the contracts and information are on David's computer."
"I've already signed the contract Samantha. I returned it to David with my electronic signature earlier." Alistair took a few steps closer to her as the hand resting on her hip dropped to her side. “I guess that means you officially work for me now.”
“Mr Lockwood, I work for RMG. I am just the liaison between you and the company. Nothing more.”
“Oh, you’re way more than that Samantha. Hasn’t David told you?”
He watched as her expression changed from annoyance to confusion. Obviously David hadn’t told her about the little addendum he’d made the contract after he’d left the office earlier.
“I take it by the look on your face he hasn’t.”
“What hasn’t he told me?” Sam said, her voice a little shaky as she waited for the answer.
He had hoped that David would have told her. He had wanted her to have all the facts before signing the contract, wanting her to go into this with her eyes wide open. He’d assumed she was doing just that when he’d received the contracts from David, both his and Samantha’s signatures already in place.
He had no way of knowing how she was going to react to this new piece of information, and he could only hope the surprise wouldn’t drive a wedge into their blossoming friendship.
“Okay. You’ll technically still work for RMG, on paper anyway.” He paused, watching her for any sign of how she was feeling, when he saw none, he continued. “However, all your expenses and your salary will be paid by me.”
That got a reaction from her as her eyes widened and she grabbed his arm, pulling him into a nearby office. He was thankful that it was empty as this wasn’t a conversation he wanted to have with an audience.
“What do you mean you’ll be paying my salary? What exactly will I be doing for you Mr Lockwood because I have to say, at the moment I’m beginning to regret agreeing to your, how shall I say, demands.”
He couldn’t stop the smile from lifting his lips. She really was stunning when she was pissed, and he hadn’t even told her the most important part yet.
“I shall be paying your salary because for the duration of my contract with RMG Miss Westfield, you shall be my personal assistant.”
