by Renee, K.

“I’m sorry I didn’t tell anyone about her until now.” I turn to face her. “I was so ashamed that I couldn’t even keep her from dying. I just wanted her so bad, it crushed me. She was the last piece of him I had.”

She pulls me into a hug. “Sweetie, he never got over you. After you left, he spent most of the time angry at me and his father. He wanted to be in New York with you, but when he realized how bad his father was getting, he changed his attitude.”

“I hate that he was angry with you both,” I say, wiping my eyes.

“Oh, it was nothing we couldn’t handle. He’s always been crazy about you and we knew he was going to hurt, so we let him be angry for a while. He even went to New York to see you, but when he got back, he had changed. He started to party and sleep around with all those little hussies in town. He wasn’t the son we raised and we know part of it was because we asked him to stay.”

“He said he saw me with someone else when he came to New York. He didn’t even tell me he was there. If I would have known, I would have dropped everything to be with him.”

We walk over to the couch and sit down. “You two were so in love, I was afraid it would have fizzled. Many young kids don’t stay in love after college nowadays. I didn’t want that for either of you. Truth be told, I was kind of glad you broke up when you did. I was happy you’d both have the chance to date other people and see if you really were meant to be. I now know that you both wasted so much time being apart, you’ll never get that back.”

I flash her a small smile. “No matter how many people I went out with in New York, no one ever compared to Jaxson. He will always be the first boy to ever kiss me, the best first date, my best friend, and the father to our little angel who’s looking down on us from heaven. She probably has her grandpa wrapped around her little finger, too.”

“They’re both looking down on us and smiling, that’s for sure,” she says, her eyes glistening.

Before we break down into uncontrollable tears, she changes the subject. “So… Did you fall in love in New York?” she quietly asks.

“I thought I did, even thought about marrying him at one point, but it turns out everything was a lie. When he got arrested, I came home. I couldn’t afford New York on my own and all our accounts were frozen.” I sigh and run my fingers through my hair. I should have known better. Tyler was too good to be true.

“My dear, you do know it would have been illegal for you to marry that man, right?” She grins.

Placing my head in my hands, I nod. Her giggles cause me to laugh. “I didn’t know you knew,” I say, looking at her from between my fingers.

“Sweetheart, neither of you were ever any good at keeping quiet when you thought you were alone. I’m sure my poor Ben saw you two way more than he cared to, hearing you talking about getting married on more than one occasion.”

I can’t help but blush. I had no idea Ben saw us. Groaning, I hide my face again. “Oh, Lyn. You guys were kids and in love. Who were we to tell you to stay away from each other? At least you waited until you were both ready.”

“I’m so embarrassed.” I shake my head.

“I see the way you guys are with each other. You still love him, don’t you?”

“I love him more than anything. Since being back, I feel like I can breathe again.”

  Chapter Twelve

When Jax comes back into the house, he’s all sweaty and dirty. He comes over to me and throws me over his shoulder. “Sorry, Momma, but I have some plans for this girl tonight.”

“Have fun,” she giggles, waving. He slaps my ass and walks us out the door. I wave to his mother while hanging upside down.

Smacking his ass, I tell him to let me down. He just chuckles and gives me a few more pats on the ass. “Darlin’, I have plans. Waiting for you to keep up with me is gonna take too long.” I hit his back and he just laughs harder, slowly letting me slide down his body. When I smell him and feel how hard his body is, every part of me starts humming.

He groans when I come into contact with his cock. “God, Lynd, your body still drives me fucking crazy.”

I can’t help but moan when I feel his hardness. I want nothing more than to get naked with him right now, but I have to remind myself that we need to take it slow.

He clears his throat, then grabs my hand and pulls me towards his place. "I'm trying to be a gentleman, but it's so fucking hard when all I want to do is strip you down and fuck you."

I let out a startled gasp and he just smirks. Before I know it, I am back over his shoulder and he is jogging to his house. Screaming and giggling, I pinch his butt until he finally puts me down on his front deck.

"I need to shower before I take you out,” he says with a wink, walking inside.

My stomach has flutters as I follow him, watching the way his ass moves in those tight jeans he's wearing. "Okay,” I squeak.

Turning around, he stalks right over to me and backs me up against the front door. His lips descend on mine, his tongue slipping into my mouth. When my phone starts to ring, Jax ignores it and picks me up. As we walk down the hall, a beautiful dog comes running towards us, almost knocking us over.

  "Down, Max!” Jax hollers.

When he starts to set me on the bed, I wrap my legs around his waist. "Come on. I stink,” he groans. I shake my head and kiss him until we are both breathless. Leaning over my body, he kisses a path down my neck, to the tops of my breasts.

“Mmm,” I moan as the scruff from his beard runs along my skin, my panties starting to dampen. I pull his body closer to mine, feeling his hardness. When I rub against him, I hear his sharp intake of breath. Resting his forehead against mine, he pins me down so I can’t move.

“Darlin’, I want to do right by you. As much as I want to finish this, I need to show you that you mean more to me than just sex.” He kisses my nose, making me smile.

“Okay. I’ll stop,” I say with a grin. He kisses me once more, then turns and walks towards the bathroom.

Once he walks inside and closes the door, his big dog comes and jumps up on the bed. “Hey, buddy,” I say as the dog sniffs my face. Tentatively, stick my hand out and he tries to get me to pet him. I scratch his head until Jax comes back into the room, freshly showered. I don't ever remember him looking this good in an old pair of jeans and a t-shirt.

“Max, down,” he says with authority.

I watch Max jump down and sit on the floor next to him. “Wow,” I whisper. I’ve never been a dog person before, but I kind of like this one.

“He won’t bite unless you try to hurt me,” he says with a smile, grabbing my hand and pulling me up. “Come on, darlin’. We have plans.”

We walk out of his room and to the back door. Once we walk outside, I stop dead in my tracks. Gasping, I look around. There is a blanket on the grass, a picnic basket sitting right in the middle. We start to walk closer to the blanket and I notice the flower on top of the basket.

One single flower is all it takes to bring tears to my eyes. I have no clue how he remembered after all this time. The single white calla lily was my bouquet. When we had shown up to get married, we didn't have anything. Walking along the street to the chapel, we saw a flower vendor, and Jax picked out a white calla lily for me. I saved that flower. Hell, I still have it pressed into my favorite book.

He wraps his arms around me from behind and pulls me closer to him. “What do you think, babe?” he whispers against my ear.

“It’s perfect, Jax. I can’t believe you did this. How did you remember?”

He turns me around and I see the smirk on his face. “Baby, I could never forget one moment I spent with you. You were everything to me. Now that I know what you went through, I wish I would have gone with you to New York. Hell, I’m kicking myself for it. You have always been my future. I’m never letting you slip through my fingers again.”

He leans down and softly kisses my lips. When he pulls back, I can see the hunger in his eyes. He walks me over to the blanket and offers me a sea
t, just like he did the first time. I sit, waiting for him to do the same. “I must say, I never expected us to be right here, right now,” he says with a small smile.

“Neither did I. I never thought you’d be able to forgive me for what I did to you,” I mumble, looking at the ground.

Grabbing my hand, he kisses my knuckles. “Lyndley, I’m hurt and mad, but I could never hate you. You didn't do any of this on purpose. It just happened. I can accept that and move on, carrying her in my heart. I want you to do the same. I love you, and that will never change.” He intertwines our fingers and smiles at me.

  “What?” I ask, blushing.

“You look just as beautiful as you did on our first date. I’m the luckiest man in the world right now.”

His hand gently grips the back of my neck and he pulls me in for a kiss. I forgot how it felt to be completely loved by someone. For years, I’ve tried to keep myself at a distance from everyone. Jax is the only man who has ever loved me this way. Sure, Tyler said he loved me, but I now know it wasn’t the same. I never felt the kind of love with him like I do with Jaxson.

Jax gently lays me back on the blanket, placing himself between my legs. Every inch of my body is on fire, and I want nothing more than for him to make me his again. I don't want to fight it anymore. I want him so bad, it hurts.

He kisses me softly and trails his mouth down my neck to the collar of my shirt, lowering it enough to kiss the tops of my breasts. I slip my hands inside his shirt and roam over his chest. When his hands grip to the bottom of my shirt, I help him out by lifting my arms. He tugs my t-shirt off and tosses it behind him, his eyes roaming over my body.

“Damn, baby. Your body is so fucking amazing.”

He reaches for my jeans and slowly unbuttons them, kissing a blazing trail from my breasts to my waist. When he gets them undone, I lift my hips as he slides them off, throwing them to the ground. He kisses his way back up my body, running his hands up my sides.

I grip his t-shirt and lift it over his head. When his lips find mine again, I start to unbutton his jeans and push them down as far as I can. He grabs them and takes them the rest of the way off. Seeing his fantastic body above me, I can’t help but get wet.

Every muscle flexes as he holds himself up above me. I kiss his chest and make my way to his nipple. Gently, I nibble on it. His eyes roll back in his head as he moans my name. Suddenly, he wraps his arms around me and flips us over so I’m now on top of him, his black boxer briefs barely able to contain his hardness.

Running my hands down his sides, I grip the band of his boxers and slide them down his muscular thighs, his dick standing at attention. Wrapping one hand around him, I lower my head and slowly run my tongue up and down his shaft. He reaches up and tangles his fingers in my hair.

Moaning, I take him as deep as I can. I bob my head a few times before he pulls me off. “Lynd, I don’t want to come in your mouth.”

He drags me up his body and I kiss every inch of him as I go. Straddling his waist, I line him up and sink down, his cock slowly stretching me. “Oh, fuck,” I moan. Once I adjust to his size, he slowly moves me up and down.

“Lyndley, you feel so fucking good,” he groans.

A breeze blows past us and my nipples pebble. He reaches up and tangles his hands in my hair as I ride him. When I start tweaking my nipples, it causes him to thrust into me harder. “Oh god, Jax!”

His hand comes down to my clit and rubs while I ride out my orgasm. After a few more hard thrusts, I feel him release.

  Chapter Thirteen

Lying my head on Jax’s chest, I trace patterns on his pecks. I never really noticed his tattoos. On his left shoulder is a cross and his father’s name, and on his other shoulder is a half-sleeve of black drawings. I can’t tell what most of them are, but I see a familiar object mixed in with the rest of the art.

“Jax,” I whisper, tracing Gracilyn’s name on his chest one final time.

  “Yeah?” He pulls me closer.

“Why did you put this here?” I point to the picture of two thumbprints that are combined into a heart next to an anchor with the words, “true love never sinks” wrapped around it. I rest my chin on his chest and wait for his answer.

He rubs his hand over the ink and smiles. “Well, this amazing and beautiful girl once told me she wanted me to know how much she loved me so she drew it on my arm. When I got home from her house, I took a picture of it and made sure to keep it for when I decided to get a sleeve done. I incorporated it in because I knew what we had wouldn’t go away, even if we weren’t together anymore.” He leans up and gently kisses my lips.

“No matter how long we were apart, no one would ever compare to her. I knew that I wanted to get her back one day, but didn’t know how.” He gives me a crooked grin. “But then, out of the blue, the woman of my dreams came screeching right back into my life like a tornado. Sure, you had a secret when you came back, but can you honestly tell me I don’t mean anything to you anymore?”

I shake my head. I will never get over him. “You still mean everything to me. I just didn’t realize it until now. I couldn’t give you up even if I tried, and I don’t want to.”

He grins. “Good. I’m never letting you go again. I was an idiot before.”

I nod and he rolls us over so he’s on top of me. He reaches over and sticks his hand inside the basket. Pulling out grapes, he begins to feed me one by one.

We spend the rest of the evening wrapped up in each other’s arms, feeding each other, which leads to licking chocolate off each other. By the time it gets dark, we’ve made love a few more times.

“Mmm… As much as I love making love to you out here, let’s get you inside.”

Picking me up, he walks inside and straight to his room. Once he feeds Max, because he says the dog won’t leave him alone unless he does, he comes back to the room. Crawling in next to me, he pulls me close.

Melting into his embrace, I sigh and close my eyes. This whole evening has been amazing. Turning in his arms, I see a smile on his lips. His eyes are closed and his breathing is calm. Kissing his lips, I feel his arms tighten around me.

"You keep doing that and I won't be responsible for what happens next." His grin gets bigger.

"Thank you for today. After everything that happened with Jessica, I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about all of this, but talking to your mom today really helped."

"I'm glad, babe. She's missed you, but nowhere near as much as I have." He kisses my nose, and I bury my face into his chest. "Although I didn't plan on making love to you all night, I'm glad it happened. I'm glad you're here in my bed with me."

  I giggle. "Me, too."

Falling asleep in Jax's arms last night was probably one of my favorite moments over the last ten years. The feel of his naked body pressed up against mine instantly makes my body react. I can feel my nipples harden as his hand barely brushes across them when he changes position. His cock is against my hip so every time I move, he starts to get a little harder.

Running my hand down his bare chest, I stop right above his cock, reversing direction. Gently running my fingernail over his nipple, I watch it pucker. Grinning to myself, I touch my tongue to it, then blow on it. Feeling his cock twitch even more, I know he's starting to wake up.

Looking at his face, I see a small grin appear. "You keep teasing me and you're gonna regret it,” he whispers huskily.

Doing it once more, I wait for him to do something. His cock starts to harden even more, so I run my finger along the shaft. Before I can get very far, Jax has me on my back and is hovering over my body. Our faces are so close, I can feel his breath. "I warned you,” he growls.

Holding my hands above my head, he enters me without much effort, both of us moaning at the sensation. When he begins to move in and out of me, I try to move my hands to touch him, but he keeps them above my head.

"Oh god, Jax,” I moan as he kisses down my neck.

When I feel my orgasm coming on, I squeeze my thighs tog
ether. He grabs both my hands in one of his, using his free hand to rub my clit until I break apart, causing him to come with me.

"Fuck, Lynnie. Your pussy feels so damn good,” He collapses on top of me and I huff out, trying to catch my breath. "Now that is a way to wake up." He kisses me roughly, making me moan into his mouth and rub against him.

I hear my phone start to ring, so I try to untangle myself from him. Before I can get away, he slaps my ass. With a yelp, I finally get off the bed and go to my purse.

  "Yeah?” I say, breathless.

"Hey, girly! What are you up to? Are you ready for my visit?" Amie chirps into the phone. I can't believe I forgot all about her coming out here. Putting my hand to my forehead, I try to remember the days she said she would be here.

"Yeah, I am,” I say, looking around the room for my clothes as she starts to talk my ear off. Looking up, I see Jax with my panties hanging from his finger. Asshole.

I give him my sad face, hoping he will just give them back, but that's no use. Trying to keep up my end of the conversation, I give him the death stare. He shakes his head and motions for me to come over to him.

Making my way across the room, Jax grabs my hand and pulls me closer. Wrapping his hand around the back of my neck, he pulls so we are almost touching. Watching his lips, I think about all the things I want that mouth to do to me. I can feel myself getting wet again.

When our lips touch, I drop the phone. I let out a breathy moan, Jax swallowing the sound with his mouth. Remembering Amie, I gasp and pull away from him, a smirk on his face as I grab my phone.

"Oh, my god. I am so sorry, Amie. I was a little distracted and dropped the phone,” I say, giving him a dirty look.

"Are you with someone?" she asks in her high-pitched squeal. "You are, aren't you? Were you guys just fucking like animals?"
