“Don’t you have work?”
He shook his head as I stroked the crown of his erection, rubbing the seeping moisture across his wide girth.
“We have all the time we need, angel,” he promised, his hard shaft jolting between my hands. I wanted him in my mouth. I craved tasting him the way he had me over and over last night.
He lifted his boxers back up over his narrow hips.
“Now, Alexa. Bed.” His voice shifted, right along with the darkness in his eyes. The authority in his tone was pronounced. He seemed to be ordering me, not inviting. Somehow, that was hot. Every aspect of this man was hot.
He held out his hand. Even being forceful, another side of him seemed to be asking for my approval with the small gesture. He reached for the kitchen light switch and turned it off and led us back to the bedroom, pushing the sheets back and motioning me in. God, I wanted him in my mouth. Ultimately, I wanted him anywhere.
His boxers were quickly on the floor again and he climbed under the sheets and on top of me. In only seconds, my hips were arching to meet the feel of his hard body as his mouth covered mine in a long, demanding kiss. His strong thighs pushed my knees apart, only deepening the wetness factor between my legs as a small whimper slid from my lips. His hands were on my breasts rubbing and twirling my taut nipples. Without any warning, he pinched them both in unison. Hard. It hurt and I squealed at the surprising pain, but he instantly rubbed them again, the uncomfortable sensation quickly evolving into pleasure.
“Feel good?” His lips nuzzled my neck as we moved against each other. Sweet Jesus, why wasn’t he inside me? He raised his head and I nodded in response to his question. Quite simply, I loved anything he did to my breasts. And despite the pain in what he’d just done, it felt wonderful.
“Would you like it if I did that again sometime, angel?” His graying eyes gleamed as he lowered his hand between us and began stroking my clit with the ball of his finger.
“Yes,” I said a little louder than I meant to, feeling like I wanted to scream the words out at the top of my lungs. I did want him to do it again but, Christ, what I really wanted was his thick cock filling me.
“Tyler. Please,” I pleaded. His brow arched as I lifted my hips again, urging him to push into me. I’d never begged a man. Why was I so weak in Tyler’s presence? Why did the whole concept behind that frighten me?
“So impatient, my sweet Alexa. Slow down, angel.” His intense gaze lingered, his finger continuing to send me into a state of erotic insanity as I fought coming. I wanted to climax with him buried inside me, not by his finger. I wanted his thick, warm semen coating my insides and then slowly seeping out, leaving me drenched and sticky.
“One day I’ll teach you the power of discipline over your beautiful body. You’ll learn self-control.” He gave me a small tease of his stunning smile and stormed his amazing erection through me in one long thrust. The small threads of pain were still there, but not affecting me at all. Nothing mattered. Except the sound of his satisfying moans and the pulsing deep movements he was forcing on my body.
I reached for his shoulders, clenching tight as my inner muscles sucked him inside with every single bit of strength I had left. I was so completely turned on. So in tune with his body.
“I’m close. Come with me, angel.”
He grasped my hands inside his as he skillfully moved inside me, my head disoriented in a huge cloud of superb passion. I lifted into him again, and again, whimpering at the scraping of my clit against him, both of us feeling the sensation.
“Touch yourself, angel,” he whispered.
I lowered my finger and moved it in tiny circular motions over my clit as his monotone voice filled my ears. He prompted me upward just a little more as he thrust into me in several quick short moves before his body tightened, erupting into short convulsions as he spilled hot semen inside me. My own climax hit and surged my body like hot flames, his name quietly leaving my lips in nothing but a whisper.
Still inside me, he flipped over onto his back with me on top, his head resting on the pillow while mine adhered to his strong chest.
“Never doubt me again, Alexa,” he whispered in my ear, as I listened to the slowing of his heartbeat. More minutes passed, my head resting against his chest. I kept waiting. Expecting the troubling look in his eyes to return and make me question everything I was doing.
The look never returned.
Chapter Nineteen
Tyler
Entirely wrong or beautifully right, the realization was clear as crystal. I was no longer strong enough to make myself stay away. The insanity in this entire dilemma too much to fathom, all the apologies in the world for my deception couldn’t change this. There was one thing I was certain of.
This was it for me. Either it was a beginning of something great … or a tragic end where we’d both end up hurt.
11:00 AM when I got home from Alexa’s duplex yesterday, after two afternoon surgeries and an audit of the books at Venture last night, I hadn’t found the time to call her before she started her shift at the restaurant. Another long day today, my schedule had again eaten up my time. Long hours in the operating room conducting a complicated facial trauma reconstruction on a disfigured burn victim, the procedure had taken longer than anticipated. Holy fuck, I was glad to see an end to the work day.

Finally home, I was still leery as hell about the inescapable visit from the damn detectives that was more than likely going to happen. After a phone call from Justin on the way home, anxiety stabbed at me like a hot poker.
“The detectives came by, missing me a second time. They talked to Bull, asking if he knew who Becca was. He wasn’t working for me then and told the men he’d never heard of her. They have no reason to believe anybody here was involved, but they’re not going to give up, Tyler. You may get overlooked being a silent partner, but at some point, I’m going to have to talk to these guys.”
I pulled on some headphones and got in a four-mile run on the treadmill. I needed to think. Jesus, I needed to clear my mind for a few minutes. What I didn’t need was the damn detectives showing up at my place of business and causing a stir. Becca and I were discreet during our short time together, but members at the club knew we were a couple. Word was going to get to the detectives, if it hadn’t already. And obviously, Justin wouldn’t be able to lie if the right questions arose.
My gut was in knots, my head nothing but a jumble of confusion. The sensible part of my brain told me to go with my first gut feeling. Go to the damn police, tell them I had a relationship with Becca, and let them do their questioning, before admitting the truth to Alexa. I had nothing to do with this girl’s death. I had alibis to prove my whereabouts. Fuck, all the explaining in the world wouldn’t change a thing. Alexa would never forgive me for this.
In a deep predicament, in the end, it all amounted to one thing. I wanted this woman. I didn’t want to get it wrong this time. Wishing more than anything I could say things were great between us, truthfully, they weren’t.
For the next thirty minutes, I finished up my workout with six sets of weights. My mother and Mason were coming over to my place tonight. Mom always brought over Chinese food when she and my brother came for their visits. Orange beef and extra spicy fried rice had been my little brother’s favorite meal since I could remember. The guy could put away more rice than any grown man I’d ever seen.
My gut twisted violently, anger tugging at me as I thought of the cock-sucking sexual predator we once called our father. Fuck, I prayed to God he was having his worst day ever.
Chapter Twenty
Alex
Trying to gather some sense of reasoning behind what I was doing and why I caved and let Maci convince me to do this, I eased my car door shut, contemplating turning around and leaving. Clearly, Tyler had company. The E-Class Mercedes sitting in his driveway was silver and shiny. It looked new.
Please don’t let this be the bitch’s car.
At the time, the ef
fects of two glasses of wine winning out over rational thinking last night, the idea had sounded romantic. Now, I wasn’t so sure. I knew damn well all men did not like an unforeseen visit from a woman and I was way too shy to do something this bold.
What the hell was I going to do if he answered the door and the pointy-nosed shrew was there? I couldn’t stand the thought of her hands on him, yet that’s exactly where they had been before. Many more times than I wanted to know about. And thoughts of him touching her were nauseating.
Yielding to what I was one-hundred percent uncomfortable doing, my stomach twisted into painful knots, skeptical about going through with this. Mentally preparing myself, when the door began opening, I straightened just quickly enough to see a young man in what I guessed to be mid-twenties, standing in the open door with a set of car keys dangling from his hand.
His face calm and nonchalant, he looked like Tyler. “Well, hello there,” the young man said, as a big red dog darted out at the same time, jumping on my leg with his tail wagging as he sniffed me. Handsome just as Tyler was, the two of them had the same eyes, yet there was something troubling behind the young man’s.
“Hi.” My voice came out hoarse and rough. The Irish Setter—wasn’t he?—jumped off of me and laid down in front of the man that almost passed for Tyler’s twin had he not looked just a little younger. The man didn’t speak again as he walked toward the silver E-Class. Holy crap. Now I knew I shouldn’t have come. Tyler’s family was here. I turned to return to my car.
“Alexa!”
I glanced over my shoulder to see Tyler standing in the door looking like the god I already knew he was. Dressed in faded jeans with a wide rip across the knee and a tight brown t-shirt showing off his remarkable toned body, along with brown and beige sneakers, I sighed at his beauty. Were those Dune Londons on his feet?
Insecure as hell, I was dressed in simple ankle jeans and a white, lacy tank top with white, Yellow Box flip flops covered in pearls to match my shirt. I shifted restlessly.
“What a nice surprise.” He smiled as he walked toward me, at the same time glancing over at the young man removing something from the trunk of the Mercedes.
“Bono!” Tyler yelled. The dark red dog sprinted toward us.
“Sit!” The dog immediately did as he was told.
“Meet Alexa, Bono.” He immediately held out a paw to shake hands.
“Oh, my God, Tyler. That’s so cute.” I held out a hand and placed his paw in it. “He’s shaking my hand.” I giggled at the cute gesture. “Nice to meet you, Bono.”
“Back in the house, Bono.” Sure enough, the dog did just as he was told and ran back inside the widely open front door.
Before I had a chance to shift and face Tyler, he had his hands on my shoulders, spinning me toward him and kissing me, just the tip of his tongue brushing lightly against mine.
He ran his fingertips down my bare arms. “Jesus, I do love the way you smell.”
The younger version of Tyler shut the trunk of the car and walked back toward us holding a box of what looked like Chinese food containers. He was headed for the door, not acknowledging anything as he looked straight ahead. Tyler placed his hand on the shoulder of the young man.
“Mason. Don’t be rude. I want you to meet my girlfriend.” Girlfriend? Is that what I am?
“Alexa, this is my younger brother, Mason. He was just getting dinner out of the trunk. Come join us.”
I peered at the sibling I didn’t know Tyler had, wondering if he had others. Mason smiled at me, holding up the box of food and giving me a quick peek. His beaming grin revealed a perfectly sculpted set of brilliantly white, dazzling teeth, just as his brother had. Something was clearly wrong with him, but Tyler’s feelings toward him were profound. His eyes were filled with love and admiration as he watched his younger brother. Baffled by what I was seeing, it was sweet to watch. Another side of Tyler I didn’t know existed.
Mason handed the box to Tyler and reached out to shake my hand, only to lean over and kiss me on the cheek instead. Silent, he stared at me for a few seconds. He clearly understood what Tyler was saying, but something was just so hurt-filled and distant-looking behind his eyes.
“It’s so nice to meet you, Mason.” I quickly thought of my own brother Adam, and how long it had been since I’d seen him. Tyler had family here. I liked that. I really liked the idea a lot.
“My mom’s in the house, too. Come on. I hope you like orange chicken and fried rice that’s so damn hot and spicy that it burns right through the lining of your stomach.” Mason punched Tyler in the chest and Tyler quickly put his arm around his younger brother’s neck, pulling him in for a brotherly choke hold, and handed him the box of food. I swayed my head to the side, taking in what I had just seen. Tyler truly had a gentle side. A really soft one.
But his mom. Holy Crap! I wasn’t sure I was ready to meet his mother.
“Tyler. No. Really. Enjoy your family time. I should have called first. We can do this any time.” I smiled at Mason and he lifted a hand and waved before walking through the front door of the house.
“Alexa,” he smiled. “You aren’t going anywhere, angel. Except inside my house and into my kitchen to meet my mother, so you can singe your insides along with the rest of us. I hope you can handle a twelve on the hotness level.”
I tugged at my small tank top, hoping I wasn’t too casual to meet his mother.
“Angel.” He gave me a contented smile and nod. “You look beautiful.” He reached down between his legs and rearranged himself. “And I’m getting hard just looking at you.” I nervously licked the bottom of my lip as I stared at the semi hard-on underneath his tight jeans.
“Tonight, sweetheart. You’re staying the night with me.”
He reached for my face and brushed his fingers over the dent in my cheek that I still despised. He’d done that so many times now that it was somehow becoming an incredibly intimate token. One I knew I could get used to. One I was already getting used to.
“Come on. Let’s go eat before Mason finishes off the rice.”
Tyler placed his hand at the small of my back and led me to the front door. Mason sat in the middle of the ample living room surrounded by hundreds of all shapes and sizes of Legos, his lips silently moving as he intently studied the directions. Bono sat beside him chewing on what was left of a stuffed animal.
“Better get busy, little brother. The Empire State Building might take you more than a couple of hours.” Mason looked at Tyler and gave him a thumb’s up, and just as quickly dropped his head back into the directions he was reading.
Tyler’s house just as beautiful as I figured it would be, surprisingly it was very traditional and homey from what I’d seen. He led me straight toward the kitchen.
“Your house is beautiful, Tyler.”
“I’m glad you like it, Alexa. Let’s hope you like my bedroom. Most importantly, my bed.” He winked and brushed his arm across the lower bend in my back, the intimate move making me shiver.
Oversized, stainless steel appliances filled the immaculate kitchen, and the marble counter tops were a remarkable deep black with large patches of white trailing throughout them. A tall, attractive woman dressed in a long, black maxi dress with shoulder-length dark brown hair pulled back in a sleek ponytail walked out of a small adjoining room with a handful of napkins and paper plates. Damn, was that his pantry? Was that his mother?
“Sweetheart, what gives? Don’t you have any soy sauce? They only gave us a few packets. Surely…”
She stopped speaking when she saw me. Her smile was warm and welcoming and she shared the same intense green eyes that both Tyler and Mason had. She walked toward us and handed Tyler the napkins and plates.
“Hello. I’m Crystal. Crystal Yates. I’m Tyler’s mom.” Her eyes sparkled when she smiled. She was curious. She was also very beautiful.
“Mom, this is Alexa. Alexa Bohmann.” His free hand once again landed against my lower back, easing me against his hip bone. My cheek
s burned at the possessive move, as I returned his mom’s smile.
“Well… It’s so nice to meet you, Alexa. What a beautiful name.” The heat in my cheeks intensified as I smiled at her compliment, wondering out of habit, if she noticed the unusual dimple covering my left side.
“We were just fixing to eat. Tyler’s brother loves Chinese and we try and stop by once a week to bring dinner over. Unfortunately, it seems like my son doesn’t even have any soy sauce in his enormous kitchen. Mason drowns his food in it. I personally like it, too, but it makes my hands and feet swell up.”
I glanced at her delicate hands. They were manicured with short nails painted in a light, natural pink. She looked at Tyler and smiled.
“Sweetheart, it looks like they only gave us five packets, even though I asked for extra. You may want to add that to Mrs. Leonard’s shopping list.”
“I will, Mom. It’s no big deal though. I don’t need soy sauce. Mason can have the packets.”
His mom frowned, the tiny line between her nose exactly the same as Tyler’s. Their looks were so similar. Something about that was cute and made me smile. Dressed in ripped jeans and a faded t-shirt, doing something as normal as holding paper plates and napkins in his hand and getting ready to eat take-out Chinese food, Tyler still carried himself with a dignified power. Always appearing to be in control of every single thing happening in a situation, it was comforting to see him smiling what almost seemed a young innocent smile, every time his mother spoke.
“Okay.” She shrugged. “Well, let’s eat then. Hope you like Chinese, Alexa. It’s Mason’s favorite.”
“Oh, I do,” I said nervously. I knew I probably wouldn’t get down more than a few bites with these nerves. I liked spicy, though.
