“I’ll make sure everyone knows,” he grinned. “You have a strong one there.”
Gage pulled her hand back, placing a kiss on it. “That I do, but, little wolf, I bite back. Matter of fact, I can’t wait to bite a certain spot.” He reached down and squeezed her butt cheek.
“Gage,” she laughed, swatting at him, only to be tackled as he tickled her. Never had she been ticklish, but this man knew spots that even she didn’t know she had.
“Okayyy... I give,” she laughed as Gage lifted her up, placing her into his lap, hugging her.
“We’ll have a good life; I promise,” he said.
“But to start all over,” she said, laying her head on his chest.
“Little wolf, we don’t need to start a family right away, we have time. With the change, your body will be primed for the next fifty years. Let’s concentrate on us for now and then see where things go.”
“Really? You’d wait? Wait a minute; Fifty years!” Her voice squeaked. “Are you out of your mind. I’ll be in my eighties! How old are you?” she asked again.
* * * *
He sighed. “I’m one hundred and forty years old. We usually live ‘til we are about three hundred or three fifty. My grandfather is three hundred and forty years old.”
She shook her head. “No way. He looked like maybe early fifties. I’m so out of my league here.” She glanced out the window to see them pulling up to one of the biggest hotels in Cleveland. “Damn, you do know we could have stayed in something cheaper.”
“Nope, plus this is the local pack’s hotel. They are allowing us to stay here as their guests. Always remember whenever we leave our home, you must okay your entrance into another pack’s territory when traveling or you could spur an uprising,” he informed her as their car came to a stop in front of the main doors where three huge men that carried themselves the same way Jared and Gage did came out.
The driver came around the limo and opened their door. Of course, Jared was the first one out, checking all around them, nodding to the men before he gave Gage a nod.
“Let’s go, beautiful,” Gage said, stepping out of the car.
“Is he going to do that every time we go anywhere?” she asked, watching as Jared met her kids as they pulled up behind them.
“Yes, so get used to it. You have guards, also,” he nodded to the car that followed their children. “I made sure they followed them, so they were okay. What is important to you is important to me. Now, come, they are waiting to meet us,” Gage said and pulled her forward where the three stood.
“Thank you again, Stu, for helping us and putting us up. May I introduce my mate, Raven,” Gage said with his hand wrapped around her waist.
The one that stood in the middle bowed his head to her. “It’s a pleasure to meet you. You are new to us?” he asked, looking toward Gage, who nodded.
“Yes, unfortunately, my woman was attacked before I could stop it. She’ll have her first shift next week,” Gage informed the man, placing a kiss on her head.
The man nodded as Tara and Rusty came to stand by her. “These are my children, Rusty and Tara.” Raven introduced them, smiling, noticing Jared, who stood close behind her daughter.
“This place is amazing, and they parked my car,” Rusty said, smiling.
Raven laughed. “It’s called valet parking, silly.”
“Come, I’ll show you to your room. I have had the chef send up a small buffet for you and your family. I knew you would be hungry traveling,” Stu said as they moved inside the grand hotel.
“Damn, this place is nice. Oh, and we can gamble. Do we get free drinks, too?” she asked, earning a laugh from Gage.
“Whatever you want to drink, I’ll buy you,” he said.
“Saint Brendan’s Irish Cream is Mom’s favorite night drink,” Tara said, wrinkling her nose. “Nasty stuff though.”
“Ha, says you,” Raven said as they moved to the elevator. “Maybe we can sneak down here later,” she said and smiled up at Gage, who laughed.
“We’ll see,” he led her into the elevator followed by her children, Jared, Stu, the bellhop and another man.
Gage wrapped his arms around the little bundle in front of him. He just couldn’t stop holding or touching her. There was so much sadness buried inside her, which just broke his heart. It would take Gage a long time to heal the wounds to his woman’s soul, but he was the man to do it.
He had his family and no one from her past or their future would take them away. Oh, he knew it would take time for her children, but he had patience after waiting for what seemed forever. He took a deep breath, taking in his woman’s scent.
“Are you sniffing me again?” she teased him, rubbing his arm.
“I can’t get enough of you, my Little Wolf. You are like a dream in my arms and I’m afraid if I release you, you’ll vanish.”
“Well, I’m afraid you are stuck with me now, because there is no-way I could handle all these changes without you, but I think there is a small sliver of attraction there, too.”
“Small,” he growled as the door opened to their floor. “I guess I have my work cut out for me then, don’t I?” he said in front of everyone.”
Her cheeks turned a little pink, and Raven glanced down at the ground. Both of her children looked at their mom then at him. “Not to worry, your mother and I were just finishing a conversation we were having. Come, let’s get settled, Little Wolf.” Gage followed Stu down the hall to the penthouse suite that he had reserved.
Yes, it would take time, but he had the woman of his dreams beside him, and she wouldn’t be going anywhere anytime soon. He couldn’t wait to get his mate home, where she would be safe from any harm. One thing Gage had learned from all of this was to cherish tomorrow and to live today to the fullest. And the curvy bundle next to him was defiantly worth cherishing every day for the rest of their lives.
Stay tuned for the next installment of Gage and Raven’s love story!
Cherished Possession
Book 2, One Last Love Series
Gage Hunter stared at the small curvy bundle in the bed. His woman, so innocent and trusting, slept, but even in her sleep, she had been restless.
Even in his arms, she had moved around, whimpering in her sleep. Gage looked up at her face, seeing the dark circles there, knowing they needed to get back home. She wouldn’t rest well until she was out of Ohio.
As promised, Gage hadn’t pushed his woman for sex the night before, even though he knew her body was ready for him. But Gage had also realized his need to possess the woman in his bed, and it wasn’t just an alpha thing either. He glanced out the window at the city of Cleveland while adjusting his cock in his shorts he had worn for her comfort, but soon, there would be no clothes between them.
But first, Gage had to deal with the threats on her life that was still out there with this stalker. Already, his enforcer had intercepted two threating messages to his mate, and each one had set him off so bad he had to excuse himself from his guest to burn off the rage that settled deep in his gut. One great thing about staying an in hotel owned by his kind was that there would always be a gym just for their kind to release the stress of the outer world.
No, they would stay in Ohio only long enough to make sure this threat was taken care of, packing her belongings and before they went home. He wanted her to have that clean break, and Gage was bound and determined to make sure nothing threating followed them home.
He smiled as she pressed up against him, her arms coming around him as she rested her head on his back. “Morning, how are you?”
“I’ve been waiting for a sleepyhead to wake up so I could do this,” he growled; turning around, he bent her backward, covering her mouth with his.
Their tongues dancing like that of the morning dew as it twines itself around each blade of grass. She trembled in his arms. Raven inched her arms up and around his neck, holding on and moaning while he explored, memorizing her taste, scent, and
body. Showing his woman what it was to be loved, possessed.
“With every sun rising, I will thank the great mother for such a perfect gift. You, my little wolf, make my heart sing and my soul whole. Thank, you,” he said, nipping her bottom lip before lifting her up, holding her tight. His world.
