We stood there, waiting. We watched the demise of the Order of the Ition Domain fleet as it drifted, out of control. One ship was crashing into another; then we realized one of the ships were drifting toward us. We were right in the path.
“That one is coming straight for us. We need to get out of its way,” I said.
“We can't. There is no way to get out of its path. The ship will not move,” the pilot said.
“Shit,” Dorian said.
Then, Boom! Boom!
The darkness of space lit up in front of us.
“Sir! It’s our fleet!” the pilot shouted with a big smile on his face. I exhaled in relief. Our fleet began to shoot at the Order of the Ition Domain ships that were easy targets now that they were drifting and could not shoot back. Our ships were all around the air, having a good time. They were flying in fancy maneuvers; I could tell the pilots were having fun. They could take all the time they wanted; the Order of the Ition Domain could not fight back. Everything they had would be fried. The copper sphere had released a magnetic energy pulse that fried everything. It was the ultimate weapon.
“Sir we’ve been locked onto,” the pilot said as we were rocked by a jolt.
“It’s Delias,” Dorian said as he looked at me with a smile.
“Son of a bitch. I can’t believe this worked,” I said happily.
“Believe in Ition strength,” he responded.
I looked out the windshield; we were being swallowed and pulled into the cargo bay of the control ship that we had been on before. Our ship landed on the landing cargo area; the cargo door closed and the space pressurized. We waited for the green light to come on the wall.
“Pressure is safe. Opening the door,” the pilot said.
We stepped out of the ship and into the cargo bay to go back to the control bridge.
“We are in for an earful,” I quietly said to Dorian.
“I am aware,” he said.
We stepped onto the bridge.
“Are you out of your mind?” Aiken shouted at Dorian.
“Why didn’t you tell me you were going to do that?” Gina slapped my arm.
I looked at Dorian. He gave me a look. Both women continued to shout at us. I grabbed Gina into my arms and kissed her. She protested, but then went limp in my arms. Melting against me. Finally, I pulled my mouth from hers.
“How did you do that? What was that?” she asked.
“I will explain later. Come on, we have a show to watch.”
Chapter Seventeen
Dr. Gina Gonzales
“It’s over. We did it. We saved our people and stopped the war from breaking out.
I grabbed Dyzon’s hand and led him into the empty hallway.
“What is it?” he asked.
But I didn't answer him. I threw my hands around his neck, pushing them into his dark hair. I rose up on my tiptoes and kissed him. He groaned and put his hands on my back, rubbing me up and down.
“What is this about?” he whispered between kisses.
I stopped kissing him and looked at him. “I realized something. When you were out there, surrounded by danger. I didn't know what you were doing. I thought I would never see you again, and that broke me. I knew then, as I know now... I love you, Dyzon Draxel. I love you deeply. I don't know how it happened; it shouldn't happen. You were my sworn enemy and now look at us. Look at what we have just done together. It is a miracle.”
He smiled giving me that cocky grin. “Do you know what that was out there? It was the copper sphere. Dorian and I discovered that if we use Ition strength on it to infuse it with energy, it will cause that magnetic explosion that you saw. But you have to concentrate hard and use a strong energy. Do you know what energy I used?”
“No. What?”
“I used my love for you. I am in love with you too, Gina. I infused Ition strength with the energy of the love I feel for you. I thought about you at that moment. That is what caused that explosion.”
“Really? That is amazing.”
“You, human female, are amazing.”
He kissed me again. Our kiss was strong. It was epic.
