I knew even with the chaps on, I was completely bared to him. When I felt him rubbing himself against me, I tightened up, fearful of him ramming into me, but I couldn’t see him hurting me.
“Relax, Megan. I’m going to fuck you but I’m not going to hurt you. Ever.”
Who would have thought that a week ago I was a virgin and now, I couldn’t imagine going a day without him. I braced my hands on the table. He wasn’t going in and I looked back at him. His chin was nearly touching his chest.
My heart sank to my stomach. “Kieran, what’s wrong?” I asked, turning around.
He leaned forward and gently pecked my lips.
“I don’t have any more condoms,” he shook his head. “I meant to stop but I hurried home and forgot.”
My body felt the ache of not being fulfilled already.
“I know you don’t have reason to believe me,” he started. “But, I’ve never once not used a condom. Never, Doc. I’m totally clean. Please. Let me and I will pull out.”
My entire face scrunched up in a confused mess. There was nothing I wanted more than for us to be skin on skin…but chancing getting pregnant… .
“Baby…” he whispered. “My mother taught me ‘don’t be silly, wrap that willy.’” He winked. “I know what’s going on in that pretty little head of yours. I’m just sayin’, I know my body. I know when it’s time.”
“If you’ve never done that before, how do you know?” I asked.
He nodded one time. “This past week, I’ve stopped myself fifty times from coming because I wanted you to feel good. I know when I’m close.”
“Kieran. I’m scared.”
“Then we won’t…,” he said, matter of fact.
“Look at me, please don’t be angry. I planned this to be fun. I didn’t think about the condom. But I’m not ready for that. I don’t want to be scared.”
His arms enveloped me and forced me to his chest. My head moved in and out with his breaths. “Megan,” he whispered. “I want us to go to the doctor. I’ll get tested and prove what I say is true. But I want to be with you.”
It felt like my heart was going to burst out of my chest. “Kieran…,” I choked out.
He shook his head. “Don’t get all excited thinking it’s about romance and flowers, for fuck’s sake…you’re standing here naked in my chaps. I’d say anything at this moment.” A silly smile appeared on his face. “Now lay your sexy ass back, I’m gonna make you regret ever tying me up.”
I quickly shook my head in disagreement. “Um…hell no. This was for you.”
Instantaneously, his eyes hooded and his Adam’s apple jetted out then back in. The back of his fingers dragged the length of my face.
“Doc, you ever done that before?”
“No. With you the other day. But it’s not too tough to figure out. How hard could it be?” I asked rhetorically.
He grabbed my hand and had me grip his crotch. “It’s pretty damn hard,” he said.
I grinned. “I don’t think it’s too complicated. I can do this.”
He seductively slipped between my legs then lifted me off the table…carrying me to the living room. I wasn’t sure why the change of scenery, but he sat on the sofa.
“The wood floor would have hurt your knees, this is carpet,” he explained as I slid off his lap to my knees.
After I worked his boxer briefs off, I noticed that he was cleaned up down there too. For whatever reason, a twinge of jealousy surged through me and thoughts of other girls invaded my head. Suddenly, I felt like I was competing against a hundred other girls for the best blowjob and I had the least amount of experience on my resume.
He did give me a reassuring hiss when I started and when his head fell back on the sofa with a guttural moan, I felt like I could maybe hold my own.
His hands raked through my hair and pulled it back to keep it from getting in the way. When he held it to one side and massaged my scalp, I moaned and he liked that…I could tell by the way he arched his hips. Then I gagged myself and had to stop for a second.
“Meg…” he hushed out and my eyes were met with brown, half-mast ones. “I’m close. When I tap you, you either need to be ready or pull off and just finish with your hand. God, baby,” he whispered at the end.
This made me happy. I got him there way sooner than I thought it would happen. But now I was nervous. I didn’t know if it would choke me or what it would taste like…but I was ready. And when I felt the tap and heard the hushed, “baby,” I kept moving but tried to prepare myself and truth is, I didn’t really taste it much. I simply swallowed so that I wouldn’t.
“Jesus, Megan,” he moaned with eyes vacant of energy but full of… affection…tenderness…love?
A thrill shot through me knowing I’d done it right, and I knew I’d do it again.
Chapter 39—Kieran
“Wink, we got this,” Todd said tipping his beer back.
“Agreed. We got it under control,” I added.
“Guys. I’m 60, not 100. You’re making this a way bigger deal than you need to,” Wink said, his tics more noticeable when he was anxious.
“Everything’s done buddy, stop worrying your pretty little ass about it,” I joked.
He nodded.
“Our job is to get you laid, you know that,” Todd said.
Wink’s face flushed red. “You two know I could never do that. Ginny was the only girl for me.”
“Wink! We aren’t talking about getting married. We’re talking about getting your dick wet,” Todd continued.
I watched as Wink took a long drink of his whiskey, considering what Todd said. For the first time in my life, I wanted no other woman and I understood Wink for a second…but his girl was gone. Forever. I tried to think about someone forcing another girl on me right now and truth is, it would piss me off. Granted, circumstances were different…but I couldn’t imagine laying another woman down right now. A smile curved on my lips.
“Wink?”
“Yeah?”
“What would she want for you?” I asked. “Or what would you want for her if she was left on this earth?”
His eyes glazed over as he considered my questions. I glanced at Todd, who raised his brows at my question. Wink polished off his whiskey and slid his empty glass down the bar to me.
“Answer me,” I said.
“I’d want her to be happy. I wouldn’t want her to be lonely,” he said and spun on his heels and headed to the back room. Neither Todd nor I said another word as he closed the door.
“Where’d that come from?” Todd asked.
I shrugged.
“I’m not sure I’d want her having sex with someone else,” Wink shouted from the back room and Todd and I laughed out loud.
“How’s your girl?”
I offered him a nod.
“Your girl?” he repeated. “Who’d of thought that Kieran Scott would have just one.”
I finished my own beer. “Yeah. Who’d a thought?”
“So tell me. I’ve known you a long time. What is it?”
I ran my fingers through my hair. I didn’t want to talk about this shit. “I don’t know, man. As far as I’m concerned, she has wings.”
Todd grinned. “Wow. So you really dig her?”
“Like a fat kid digs cake.”
We both chuckled. “Happened kind of quick, don’t you think?”
I shrugged. “I suppose to some. But over a month in reality. She didn’t know who I was, Todd. She didn’t know anything about me. She knew nothing about the money. Had she known any of that, it would have been a deal-breaker. But, I trust her. With everything.”
Todd nodded. “Good. I’m glad. You deserve it, K.”
We clinked the necks of our beers, though mine was empty.
Scott Software Corp was now up and running with me serving as active owner. I’d been majority owner since my father passed. Duane and Walt had both managed successfully without me but I was back with a vengeance. I’d hired two new developers w
ho knew I was in control, along with two new program analysts. Duane and I were in the process of getting together what I needed to terminate Walt. I wanted him out.
Wink’s party was in three days and we’d taken care of just about everything…including covering security so Todd, Malcolm and I could enjoy the party. Tonight, the place was hopping pretty good and we were pretty damn close to capacity, which was surprising for a Wednesday, but the band was an ’80s band and that always drew folks out.
Doc worked late and I kept watching my phone for a text that she’d gotten home, and it hadn’t come yet. An unease settled over me and I grew agitated.
“Hey, Kieran?”
I glanced over my shoulder and two cute young girls stood there.
“Ladies.”
One girl giggled. “I was wondering, if I could buy you a drink.”
I held up my half-full beer bottle. “Thank you, girls. I’m good for now.”
“Could I steal a kiss at least?” the brunette asked.
“Come here. No kiss but how about a hug?” The girl could barely be 21 and she trembled as I hugged her. “You girls be good tonight.”
As they scurried off, they giggled together—leaving me sitting there not understanding what the hang-up with me was all about.
“K?” Todd said in my earpiece.
“I’m here,” I said into my wire.
“We have a problem.”
I stood up scanning the room. “Tell me.”
“It’s your girl. Something’s wrong.”
As my jaw clenched, I stepped on the stage so I could see. “Where?” I gritted.
“She’s coming to you. Crying. Face swollen. K, stay calm. She’s upset.”
I spotted her and my heart bottomed out…plummeted, and I couldn’t find my breath. I jumped down from my platform and wasn’t sure how I made it over to her; but I heard some “watch its” and some “heys” as I stormed toward her, not giving a shit who I’d hit.
My hands raked through her hair and cupped her face. “What happened? What’s wrong?” I shouted over the music.
Her eyes squeezed shut and fresh tears streaked her face. I clasped her hand in mine and guided her toward Wink’s back room and slammed the door.
“Someone hurt you? Who?” I nearly shouted.
She hiccupped gasps of air and held tightly to my shirt. I swear to God, send me to jail now because I would hurt or possibly kill whoever had done this.
“Megan!”
“My mother,” she wept and for a brief moment, relief settled over me.
“Your mother? What happened?”
Her mouth opened, but nothing.
“Doc, take a deep breath. Tell me.”
“Kieran. She came to my work. My mom! It’s been twelve years!”
Within an instant, I had her pinned to my chest trying to comfort her the best I knew how.
“What did she say?” I whispered.
She started shaking her head. “Like she missed me. She’s sorry. She wants to see me. I have a brother! A brother!” she shouted. “She married a guy with money, Kieran! I was in foster homes, getting the shit beat of me by my father and she was marrying some rich asshole and having another kid!”
“Shit…” I hissed and continued to hold her, rubbing her back. “What did you say?”
“I told her moms don’t do that. They don’t leave their kids. She, of course, had some bullshit story about getting her life together but now she wanted a relationship. She wanted to make up for lost time,” she laughed sarcastically.
I wiped the fresh tears free of her face. “What’d you say, sweetheart?”
“I told her to go to hell. I’d managed just fine without her. She told me to think about it and to let her know. She gave me her card. My mother…gave me her card. How fucked up is that?”
I never liked it when she cussed. She was so much better than that but for now, I kept quiet and kissed her forehead.
“Doc. You should know more than anyone that childhood is what we spend the rest of our lives getting over.”
She gave a quiet laugh and this calmed me.
“Do you want to have a relationship with her, Megan? Answer that honestly.”
“No. I think she lost that right when she walked out and abandoned me.”
Her tears had slowed and she spoke rationally but I couldn’t help but think about what I wouldn’t give to speak to my mother again. I held her cheeks in my hand and pressed my lips to hers. One slow kiss leading into another then I reared back and stared at her as an ache simmered in my groin.
“Think about it. We can talk about it more. But, one question. What are you afraid of?” I asked.
“Abandonment,” she said quickly. “If I let her in and she leaves again.” Her voice broke a bit. “Someone leaving…having no answers. It’s horrible.”
“I understand.”
“I’m sorry for coming here. I was freaking out and I…just needed you.”
My heart expanded in my chest and started to beat faster when the words I love you formed on my tongue. I swallowed them down, forcing them away. This was crazy.
“You can come to me anytime. But we’re at capacity and I need to get back out there. Stay. You can sit right next to me,” I suggested.
She pointed at her face. “Seriously? Uh, no. I’ll go home and…wait for you.” Her wink was adorable.
When I got home it was well after 2, and she slept peacefully curled up in a little ball in my bed. We’d shared the same bed since coming home from Cannon Beach a week ago. This was the most favorite part of my day. Or maybe it was morning and seeing her mussed-up hair and lazy eyes stare up at me. After undressing, I lifted the covers and saw that she had no clothes on. Though I instantly became engorged, tonight, I would let her sleep. It had been an emotional day for her. So even though she stirred when I nuzzled up next to her, she didn’t wake and I was glad.
Sitting at my desk and preparing for a board meeting, Bert buzzed the intercom.
“Kieran. Mr. Francis is here with Ms. Burke.”
That was quick. Terry Francis was my dad’s head of security and I’d only sent him out an hour ago to find Ms. Burke.
“Send her in. Thanks, Bert.”
When the door opened, her breathtaking beauty blew me away and the eyes staring…glaring…at me were the same gray ones that I bedded down each night.
“Ms. Burke,” I said moving around to the front of my desk. “Thank you for coming. Kieran Scott.”
She shook my hand and with hesitant features asked, “I’d like to know what this is about. I’m not sure I had much of a choice but to come when you said it was about my daughter. Is she in trouble?”
Amanda Burke wore dark jeans with heels and seemed to appear younger than what I knew she was. If she married money, she could have had plastic surgery but that didn’t really matter.
“Please have a seat,” I suggested, and she did. “Megan. She’s a friend of mine. Last night, she was pretty torn up with your sudden…reappearance, shall we say. Now, I don’t know what’s behind it nor do I care. What I care about is your daughter. And you showing up after abandoning her so long ago has been difficult on her. I’d just appreciate it if you kept your distance. Give her time to let this sink in.”
She studied me for a few moments. “She has every right to be angry. I understand and I won’t push her but I need her to know, I was simply trying to survive.”
“Survive? By throwing her to the wolves?” My tone grew intolerant.
She stood. “I didn’t think he’d hurt her and…”
“Well, he did. Many times, and then she was hurt in the seven different foster homes she was in as well.”
Tears flooded her overly made-up eyes. “I didn’t know.”
“How could you? You abandoned her. Then come to find out you married into money and replaced her.”
Her angry glare turned on me. “I didn’t replace her,” she spat out.
“Well, that’s how she feels. Bot
tom line, I didn’t bring you here to persecute you. Maybe someday she will want a relationship…maybe she won’t. That will be her decision. But for now you will leave that up to her, am I clear?”
She casually glanced around my office and examined me closely. “You love Megan?”
I tossed my pen onto the papers in front of me and tilted my head, refusing to engage further with her.
“She is a very lucky woman. Thank you for letting me know.”
As she stood with one hand on the doorknob, I said, “The luck is all mine.”
Chapter 40—Megan
I’d saved up to buy a new dress for Wink’s party. Not that it was expensive…but it was for my budget. It was simple black, mid-thigh and strapless. I pulled my hair up off my shoulders. And I looked completely fuckworthy—mission accomplished.
Kieran had left earlier, needing to get to the bar, set up and get ready. I’m not sure I’d seen him look sexier than when he walked out of here in his brown leather boots, an untucked dress shirt and jeans that hugged his ass just right. Before he left, he came into the bathroom where I was getting ready, gently patted my ass and said, “So, I was thinking we should fool around now because we might be tired or drunk later.”
I reached down and took what was already hard inside his boxer briefs and worked it up and down a few times before I slid my hand out of his underwear and turned back around to the mirror.
“Hey!” he hollered. “That’s like a yellow card in soccer or a technical in basketball or a…”
With an exasperated breath, I flipped back around and sank to my knees, finding him again but this time with my mouth.
“God, Doc…” he exhaled loudly and I loved the control that came with sex. When his erection became harder, I slowly licked around then pecked the tip, then stretched the elastic back up and over…covering him.
I returned to putting my makeup on but in the mirror I could see his frustrated and unsatisfied expression reflected behind me. A grin nipped at my mouth.
I heard the smack first then felt the pain and I spun around to see him grinning.
