“Trypeli will instantly appoint Ethos,” Roth’stavous said.

“…and the south will win this contract,” Ethos said with a big grin.

“This is your plan!” Ran’Damon exclaimed. “You planned this all along.”

“One way or another, the Southern faction will win,” Ethos cunningly said, “You have two choices. Vote and reveal your position openly; the South wins. Plead silence and I become leader; the Southern faction wins.”

“And you become leader!” Gamu said poking his brother in the ribs as he smiled.

“I should choose north!” Ran’Damon snapped, “Despite my political views!”

“Ah ha!” Ethos said with a shout, “So you are going to vote for the Southern faction.”

“That is not what I said!”

“Ah, but it is my father,” Ethos cleverly said, “We have known for a very long time that you side with the South. We have now confirmed this.”

“I only will choose the side that will deserve the win,” Ran’Damon augured.

“So… your silence on the vote in two days will be a resounding boost to our cause,” Ethos grinned, “I want to thank you my father for this great talk we have had today. It has been enlightening.”

Ran’Damon peered at his sons with his steel eyes and pierced them to the core, turned and stormed off into the darkness of his quarters.

“Now you have upset your father,” B’anyan said scolding her sons.

“What Mother?” Ethos said like a spoiled child. “Do not tell me that you do not support the Southern faction. Our movement is superior; we have a better plan than that of the Northern faction. You cannot argue this fact mother...”

“This vote will not matter if either of those Seismoacoustic emitters is ever activated,” Roth’stavous said interrupting his brother.

Phonatorus walked up to the security guard’s desk at the North Faction Weapons Instillation.

“Evening sir,” The guard cheerfully said.

  “Good evening.” Phonatorus replied.

  “What brings you here tonight?”

“Surprise inspection” Phonatorus coldly said, “By order of Ran’Damon himself.”

“High Council did not provide clearance. I’m afraid I’ll have to confirm your access tonight Phonatorus, shouldn’t take too long.”

“That won’t be necessary,” he said reaching into his cloak pocket. He removed a pen like device and pointed it at the security guard.

The guard dropped the intercom and sat behind his desk with a daze, “You will grant me access and you will not remember me being here,” Phonatorus ordered.

The guard nodded and pressed the access code into his console on the opposite side of the cage. The door popped open and Phonatorus entered the corridor.

He quickly made his way to the bunker control room and punched in the command code to grant access to the Seismoacoustic Weapons Control board.

Phonatorus looked up and scanned the area as he accessed the main computer. He had been given an access code by one of his contacts that would allow him to bypass the high council’s authorization codes.

He wanted to ensure that if the North did not win this vote that the South would pay dearly. He was not acting alone, but as an agent to prevent the South from maintaining control over the military.

He programed the codes into the console once he had full undetected access. Securing a higher level of access, he accessed the safety protocols and increased the power output that the emitters could receive.

He looked up again and noticed another guard making his rounds. Phonatorus panicked and left the station unlocked before making his getaway.

The guard noticed that the inner secure door was ajar. He pushed it open and noticed that the computer console was still on and active.

Humph the guard thought, some carless programmer decided to waste energy.

The guard reached over and shut off the console, not realizing he had disabled the safety protocol to the emitters.

He secured the door and reset the magna lock to the room, sealing any evidence that the system had been tampered with.

The front access guard awoke slowly and shook his head. Dazed from the mist of air Phonatorus sprayed in his face, he reached for his coffee dispenser and made a strong cup to consume.

“Wow, I need to stop falling asleep,” He said sipping his strong brew, “Mmm, good coffee, just what I needed.”

Phonatorus exited the complex and returned to his quarters completely unnoticed.
