Breathless Night Page 9

“Let me go wash my face Liz and we can get started.”

“No need for that, just sit back and let me work my magic. I’ll wash off what needs it and leave the rest. No one will ever know any of this happened. You are going to walk down that aisle later and everyone is going to be amazed at how gorgeous you are.”

Liz proceeded to work on my face, fixing all of her hard work that I ruined in just a few moments. I hope I didn’t start crying again when Mom got here. The girls were all teasing each other and things were getting back to normal.

Celeste looked at me and asked, “So, Cailyn, have you given it anymore thought?”

“What are you talking about Celeste?”

“Well, are you going to suck him off or fuck him first?”

Really, did we have to get my mind back on all of this? I guess it was a distraction of everything going on right now, but I didn’t need to get soaking wet again. “I don’t know, what would you do?”

“If it were me, I’d be on my knees as soon as we walk through the door to our room.”

“Well, I guess I’ll be having sex then, because from what these girls tell me, you don’t know what you are doing.”

Liz finished my makeup and I got undressed so that I could get ready for the dress. Amber handed me the bag that had the stockings and panties in them as Rhylie brought the corset. “So, girls, what do you think Luke would do if I decided to not wear any panties?”

Amber grabbed them back from me, “You are going to torture that man. And I love it. Maybe I will just slip these to him during the reception.”

“Ashley, what is the evil smirk on your face about?”

“Oh nothing, I was just thinking that maybe I could present them to him during the toast.”

“You will do no such thing, I am not having my mother know anything about this.”

“What am I not supposed to know about? It sounds like it isn’t anything good, and on your wedding night, that is a very good thing.”

I ran over to her not even thinking that stockings were all I was wearing at that point. She held her arms out for a hug, but I see her wince as she holds her hands out so I gently squeeze her. “Are you hurt? What happened?”

“I will be fine. The doctor said I will probably be stiff for a few days, and I might have some bruising, but other than that, I am in better shape than the car so it’s all going to be fine. I needed a new car anyway. Some idiot ran a stop sign and hit me, but luckily it was on the passenger side. If your father had gone with me, I might not have made it.

“Now what evil are you girls planning? We all need to make sure Cailyn sets the ground rules right from the beginning in this marriage and shows Luke who is in control.”

All of the girls were laughing in fits. Ashley was the first one to speak. “Mrs. D., I always knew I loved you for some strange reason. Cailyn here just had the idea to go without any panties today and then we were just trying to decide if we should slip them to him nonchalantly during the reception or make a big deal out of it at the toast.”

“Oh dear. I like where this is going, but I’m going to one up all of you. Give them to me. Liz, you make sure your boyfriend is ready to catch the look on Luke’s face when I give them to him.”

“Mom! You can’t do that. Did you hit your head?”

“Oh alright, I won’t embarrass you that badly, but we do need to talk. Have you done anything with him? I know these girls have been feeding your information for years, but are you ready for tonight?”

“Really? Would someone just help me with this corset?” I could feel my cheeks turning crimson. I couldn’t believe that my mother came in here talking like this. She must have knocked something loose hitting her head in the wreck. She would never talk like this.

There was a knock on the door and we hear Josh through it. “Girls, I am heading out now to take the pictures of the guys. I’ll be ready for you all in about thirty minutes.”

Mom was in too much pain to help much with the corset so I handed it to Rhylie. “Here, help me get this on. Mom isn’t going to be able to help with much, so I need to be almost ready when you all go out to get your pictures with the guys.”

As I steady the front and Rhylie was pulling the strings tight, I wondered if I was going to be able to breathe at all today. “Am I turning blue yet? I feel like I am going to look like Smurfette, all blue and white.”

Mom was looking over the dress to make sure everything was good with it, but I could see she was really favoring her left arm. “Mom, are you sure you are okay? You can barely move that arm.”

“I told you, dear, I am just a little stiff. Now if someone would be so kind as to help me get this dress down, we can help our bride into her gown.”

“No, how about this? Girls, you go on out for the pictures, but send my Aunt Megan in here to help me and mom.”

“There is no need for Megan to be in here. The girls and I can help you just fine.”

“Ashley, please go get my aunt for me since I can’t leave the room.”

“You heard the boss, let’s go. I’ll send her right in.”

“Thanks, Ash. I’ve missed having you around. Promise it won’t be so long next time.” The girls all left the room and mom just stared at me. She was not very happy with me right now, but I didn’t really care. I wanted Megan in here so I could find out exactly what the doctor said. I know Mom was not telling me the entire story.

“Cailyn, is everything alright? Ashley told me you wanted me to come in and help.”

“Well, you tell me. I’m not sure if everything is good or not. My mother is being her normal hardheaded self. She tells me that she is just a little stiff, but she can’t even reach up to take the dress off the hanger, let alone help me get it on.”

“Aileen! Where is your brace? The doctor told you that you could take it off for the picture so that it wouldn’t show if you were going to be so bullheaded about it, but that you had to wear it the rest of the day.”

“What brace, Aunt Megan? She said she was fine and the doctor told her she might have some bruising and stiffness. She hasn’t had a brace the whole time she has been here. I think she hit her head too. You should hear the things she is talking about.” I could feel my cheeks warming again.

“No, Cailyn, her head is fine. I’m sure I know what she is telling you. It’s the same conversation your grandmother gave both of us on our wedding days. Aileen, you sit down and stop moving that arm around before you do more damage. Cailyn dear, let’s get this dress on you.”

WE STOPPED TO GET A BITE TO EAT on the way to the church, but Zane didn’t have to worry about spotting me the cash since they all bought their own food. I think it may have been because I told them they had to order off the dollar menu if they wanted me to buy for them. That got me some dirty looks and a few choice words, but it was all in good fun.

As I was walking into the church to get changed, I ran into Mr. Donnelly in the hall. He said he needed to talk to Cailyn, but for me to not go too far and I wondered what was going on. He looked a little rough. I hoped everything was good. Please tell me she wasn’t considering calling this all off. I hoped he wasn’t having to go talk her down. That would explain why he looked so rough. I knew how much money he had put into today.

The guys and I carried our tuxes into the room we were changing in and started to get ready. Once again, I thanked my lucky stars that I was a guy and didn’t have to do a whole lot to get ready for today compared to the girls. The hair, makeup, dresses… Just give me a tuxedo any day of the week over all of that.

“So, guys. It’s that time. Once these tuxes go on you all are finally going to get serious, right? I mean it. I don’t want you all being your normal perverted selves. No need to scare her family away.”

Breck looked at me and smiled. “Well, I guess if we have to get serious once they are on, then now must be the time for this.” He pulled a flask out of his pocket. “I know Zane has a doozy of a speech lined up for you later, but here
’s my toast to Cailyn being able to put up with you for many years to come.” After he took his swig, he passed it around the room.

Watching everyone else take theirs, and the reactions they had, I started to think maybe I should pass. As Tuck handed it to me, I started to feel the nerves taking hold. In a few hours, I was going to be a married man. Would I still have any freedom? Would Cailyn let me go out with the guys? Was this the last time I was going to be able to have a drink with them? I started to wonder about things that didn’t even make any sense. Lifting the flask to my mouth, I could smell the strength of whatever was in it. It might not be the smartest move of the day, but I chugged it.

Jeremy stepped over and grabbed it right out of my hand and mouth. “Dude, what are you doing? Do you want to be able to stand later, or are you planning on passing out while you are up there? Easy on the ‘shine.”

I could still feel the burn in my throat and was afraid of how I would be feeling if it were on an empty stomach. “Sorry, just starting to get a little nervous and all. Nothing to be concerned with.”

Just then I heard Mr. Donnelly behind me. “Do you all mind if I have a sip of that? I could really use it right about now.”

“Sir, it’s a little strong. Trust me, you only want a sip. So, is Cailyn nervous? She isn’t calling off the wedding or anything is she?”

“Son, if she were calling off the wedding I would need a lot more than a sip. No, she is fine. She might be a little stressed, and you might have to calm her down later, but she is fine. Mrs. Donnelly was in a wreck this afternoon. Megan says she is fine and she went to go pick her up from the hospital. Cailyn is probably having a little meltdown right now worrying about the wedding being perfect, but everything will go as planned.” He took a sip of the offered flask. “Whoa, that is some strong stuff. Who brought this?”

  “That would be me, sir.”

“Well, good to meet you then. Do you mind if I hold onto it for you for a little while?”

“Not at all, sir, just let me know if you need some more. I might be able to round up another couple rounds for you.”

I realized at that point that Mr. Donnelly hadn’t met my friends before since they didn’t really come to town often. I introduced them all to him and reintroduced him to Zane since I wasn’t sure if he remembered him from the one time they met a couple of months ago.

“Nice to meet you all. I wish you all could have been here for the rehearsal last night. Wasn’t much to rehearse without you all, but I’m sure those pretty girls will set you all straight and make sure you do the right thing. Just don’t let them push you around too much.”

Mr. Donnelly took my arm and pulled me over to the side. I saw that the moonshine was already kicking in as I looked at him sway slightly. He tried to speak quietly, but it came out a little louder than he had hoped. “Luke, I know that you have respected my girl’s wishes and let her save her virtue. I’m not going to give you the speech or anything, but just know that you have earned a great deal of respect from me by being willing to do what most guys wouldn’t even consider in this day and age. Because I have the utmost respect for you, and I love my daughter dearly, I just wanted to let you know that we have a small surprise for you after you get back from the honeymoon.

“Also, I know you don’t have the best relationship with your father, so I can understand you not wanting to call me Dad, but after today there is no reason for you to call me Mr. Donnelly. Please, at least call me Terry. Welcome to the family, son.” He reached out his hand to shake mine. I heard the guys mumbling something about a small surprise, but I just ignored them. They were probably teasing about me having a small surprise for Cailyn tonight or something.

“Mr. Donnelly, I appreciate that, but there is no reason for you to do anything more than you have already done for us.”

“Nonsense. We know we don’t have to do it, but we want to. That’s what family is for. Now, let me go grab the boutonnieres so you can meet Josh outside for your pictures. I think it is getting to be about that time and we can’t be holding anything up.”

It took Mr. Donnelly a few minutes to find where Megan had put them, but when he got back the guys were back to teasing me about a small surprise. We helped each other pin the blue orchid and white rose boutonnieres in place while only hearing a couple of the guys scream from poking themselves. As Jeremy shouted he said, “I can’t help but wonder if this is why the girls are usually putting these things on for the guys.”

“Alright, someone check outside to make sure the coast is clear. I know that she is probably staying in her room, but just in case. If I see her before the wedding, she has threatened that I will be sleeping on the couch until our first anniversary. I’m not taking any chances on her being serious.”

“If I know my daughter and how important this day is to her, I think she might be underestimating. You’d be lucky to get out of the dog house before your fifth anniversary. I’ll go check and make sure that they are safely locked away in their room.”

Once we knew that Cailyn was not running around the church, we headed outside for the pictures. Josh was not only a great guy, but he was amazing when it comes to photography. He had spent the morning going over all the different places he wanted to use to capture the best shots for each person. He got a few pictures of me by myself, then a few of the guys. We had our serious ones and our fun ones.

“Zane, can you go in and get the girls so we can get some shots with them?”

“Actually, Zane, can you stay out here? One of the other guys can get them. I want to get a couple shots of you and your brother if you all don’t mind.”

Jeremy agreed to go in and get the girls as Breck was walking back to the car. I wasn’t sure why, but I was guessing he was going to get some more of that moonshine. I hoped that he didn’t get too wasted before the ceremony. “Ryan, can you go check on Breck? I would like him to be still be standing upright at the ceremony.”

“Sure, no problem. I’ll make sure to keep him in line.”

In no time at all, Jeremy was walking back with the girls. “Look who I found already on their way out.”

Ryan looked at the girls, then back at me. “Luke, who is that beauty? Why did you not tell me about her? I mean, look at that mocha skin, her elegant black hair, those big brown eyes… I know where I’m sleeping tonight.”

“Ryan, calm down boy. I don’t need you drooling in the pictures. And trust me, if you think you are going home with Celeste tonight, you might be in for a rude awakening. She is a firecracker.”

“Good, I like the feisty ones. Not all of us are like you wanting those tame ones that don’t know what they are doing ya know.”

“I’ll make sure to introduce you all when they get over here, but only if you stop making a fool out of yourself. Hey, ladies, how’s Cailyn holding up? Is she half as nervous as I am? Since you all haven’t met, Ryan, Jeremy, Breck, Tucker, and Zane, this is Rhylie, Liz, Celeste, and Amber. I’m guessing you are Ashley. It’s nice to meet you.”

“The pleasure is all mine. It’s nice to finally see what Cailyn and these girls have been talking about all day. I can’t wait to see the pictures from the honeymoon.”

Did she really just wink at me? I wasn’t terribly certain that this was the girl that Cailyn told me about. Zane was going to have his hands full tonight with her being the Maid of Honor.

Josh started pushing us all around. “Ladies and Gents, if we could get this show on the road I need to get your photos done so that Cailyn doesn’t come after me. I would like to live through the night if you all don’t mind.

Ryan slid himself over to stand next to Celeste and before I could stop him, I saw his hand reaching for her ass. She must had sensed it too. Before his hand was within a foot of touching her, she spun around, grabbed his wrist, and twisted it up behind his back. “Ryan was it? Well, if you want to grab that ass, you are going to have to be a hell of a lot quicker than that. You should have just smacked it instead of trying to be all smoo
th and stealthy. Maybe I’ll give you a chance to try again later, but right now, if you do anything to mess up this makeup or dress, you will be pulling your balls out of your throat. Are we clear?” Then she proceeded to reach down to Ryan’s crotch and gave it a rub to show that she could easily grab them and do whatever she wanted with them.

  “Yes, ma’am, crystal clear.”

“Celeste, Ryan, do we need to separate the two of you? It’s going to make it difficult to take pictures of the two of you if you can’t be next to each other.”

Liz walked over to Josh to give him a kiss. “Don’t worry about them, dear, I’m sure Celeste has everything under control. I don’t think Ryan wants to be looking up at her from the ground with her heel in his throat, so I’m sure he will behave.”

Tucker looked over at me and quietly said, “Luke, uh, these girls are a little psycho. Are you sure you want to be marrying into this group?”

“Tuck, shut it. Let’s just get these photos done so that I can get inside and Cailyn can come out for hers.”

The rest of the picture session was thankfully uneventful. Once Josh was done with the photos of the guys, we retreated into the church. On the way back, I realized I needed Zane to do a few things for me since I would have to stay locked away until given the all clear. I could help but notice the symbolism of losing my freedom on this day. “Hey, wonderful brother of mine, do you think you could do me a couple of favors?”

“What do you want now? Starting to get cold feet, feel the noose tightening around your neck? I don’t think I could sneak a stripper into the church.”

“Really? Don’t even joke like that. There is no telling who is around to hear you that doesn’t appreciate your sense of humor and may take you seriously. I need you to find Mr. Donnelly and ask him to have Megan bring me Cailyn’s bouquet before she goes out to have her photos taken with it. Then can you stop by and let Cailyn know they are ready for her outside and that I am locked away?”

“Why do you want her bouquet? Wait, never mind, I don’t want to know. Sure I’ll hunt everyone down for you. Just wait until I get married. I am going to have you running all over the place doing things for me and not a single one of them will have any purpose other than to annoy you.”
