“I’m trying to,” I said to him.
“Relax, Cuba. Relax, baby. I ain’t gonna hurt you.”
I nodded my head and relaxed my legs to the side. It took a little force, but Khi was finally able to enter me. I instantly moaned as I threw my hands around his neck and looked up at him. I stared into his hazel eyes, unable to stop the tears that slid down my face. It was just feeling so good to me that I couldn’t stop the emotions that ripped through me.
“Damn, your shit is so fuckin’ wet. Hmm,” Khi groaned. He dropped his body onto mine as he slowly slid in and out of me.
I was still so sensitive from all the oral he had given me that I felt myself about to come again. I shut my eyes and dug my fingernails into Khi’s back.
“Damn . . . oh, fuck. I’m about to come again,” I said, and that seemed to make Khi go harder.
He dug into me deeper, and each time he stroked me, his dick seemed to grow harder. My mouth dropped open, and I gritted down on my teeth as an orgasm ripped through my body, causing me to scream out.
“Aghhhh, fuck!”
I wanted more. I wanted to feel that feeling again. I was loving it. It was a high that I could get used to, and I wanted that shit over and over again. I could already feel myself getting addicted.
Damn, what is this man doing to me?
I threw my hips into Khi and squeezed my muscles around his dick. I just wanted to come again . . . and again . . . and again.
“Damn, baby. Shit. Give me that pussy,” Khi said as he stroked me into another orgasm.
He and I had sex for what seemed like hours before each of us no longer had the strength to move. When I looked over at the digital clock on the nightstand, it was going on five in the morning.
“I didn’t mean to be crying like that while we was having sex,” I told him as I laid my head on his chest.
“That shit don’t bother me, bae. Why you saying that like you did something wrong?” Khi chuckled.
“I’ve never had oral before, and tonight was the first time I had experienced an orgasm.”
“What kinda niggas you been dealing with, man? You serious?”
“Yes, I’m serious. And I’ve only been with one person before you today.”
“Shit, I knew I liked you for a reason.”
“I got something that I want to tell you.”
“You wanna hit this?” he asked and passed me the blunt that he’d rolled up a few minutes ago.
“When I ran into you at Wal-Mart that day, I had just gotten out of jail, where I had spent the last three years.”
Khi sighed, and I could feel his body tense up. “Why you just now telling me this, though? The fuck you go to jail for?”
“That’s why I don’t say anything. I don’t want nobody judging me.”
“I’m not judging you. Shit, I ain’t perfect, but don’t you think that’s something you should’ve said before I brought you around my damn daughter?” Khi sighed and got up from the bed.
“Khi . . . I didn’t do anything wrong.”
“Yeah, whatever,” he called over his shoulder before leaving the room and slamming the door behind him.

I had tossed and turned so much after I confessed to Khi that I’d been to jail that I couldn’t even go to sleep. By time my eyes did start to get a little heavy, it was going on ten o’clock, and Skylarr had come inside saying that she was hungry. I got up, took a quick shower, and took her downstairs to make some breakfast. Dae was sitting at the island and going through his cell phone. I looked at him, noticing that his face was bloody and swollen, and one of his eyes was damn near shut. I wondered what the hell had happened, because he didn’t look anything like that when I had seen him last night.
“Where’s Khi?” he asked.
I shrugged my shoulders and walked over to the fridge to pull out some eggs and bacon. I grabbed a bowl from the cabinet and a skillet to fry the bacon. As soon as I began to crack the eggs open, I could feel Dae standing behind me. I turned around and looked at him before putting my attention back on my food.
“I just get a feeling about you every time I see you that I know you from somewhere,” Dae said, and once again, I just shrugged.
“Well, when you figure it out, let me know.”
“Did we fuck?”
“Sure didn’t,” I said confidently.
“Did we go to school together?”
“I went to DeSoto High. What school did you go to?”
“Nah, I went to Lincoln, but I was never in that bitch. Maybe I used to fuck one of your friends or something.”
“I don’t have any friends.”
“You got a sister?”
“Why the fuck does it matter? We didn’t fuck, so . . .”
“Because you seem like a real sneaky-ass broad to me and, I wanna know where the fuck I know you from.”
“Daddy!” Skylarr yelled, and Dae took a couple of steps back as Khi entered the kitchen.
He was dressed down in a black-and-gray suit with a pair of red bottoms on his feet. I wasn’t sure how to take him after last night, so I didn’t say anything and went back to seasoning and scrambling my eggs. I heard the soles of his shoes clicking against the kitchen floor and knew that he was coming in my direction. Moving my shoulders around, I threw my neck from side to side and tried to relieve some of the tension that I suddenly felt. Khi wrapped his arms around me and kneeled over and snuggled his face into my neck.
“I’m sorry, a’ight,” Khi said into my ear before he kissed the side of my face. “We’ll talk about it later, though.”
“Bruh, I don’t think you should trust her,” Dae blurted out, and we both looked over at him.
“How the fuck would you know who to trust, nigga? Grab one of my suits out the closet and get dressed. We got a meeting to get to,” Khi told him.
“A meeting with who? The fuck I gotta wear a suit for?” Dae asked with hesitation.
“A meeting with Tamar. Some shit done popped off, and he called a few of us to meet him at his spot at one.”
“Why I gotta go, though?”
“You scared or something?”
“Nah . . . I’m . . . I’m just saying. What if shorty told him and that nigga calling us over there as a setup? I broke it off with her like you told me to.”
“Then you ain’t got shit to worry about, nigga. You either gonna be in this shit or not, Dae. You gonna prove to me that you want this or what?”
“A’ight, a’ight. Just take me by the house, though, ’cause you know I’m not with wearing no suit, nigga,” Dae told Khi.
Khi kissed me one more time. “See you later, ma,” he said to me, and I looked up into this hazel eyes and smiled at him.
“See you later,” I told him and watched as he and his brother walked out the door.
Chapter 16
Deonna
I pulled up to my home just as KaeDee was driving out of the driveway. I knew that since it was Sunday, I could catch him there rather than at the office. I placed the car in park and hurried and climbed out before he made it out of the gate. I stood there as the gate opened, forcing KaeDee to have to stop his car. I could see through the window that he wasn’t trying to deal with me.
We had gone through so much since he’d caught me in that hotel room with Tyrin, and I understood his frustration completely. KaeDee had worked his magic as usual and had gotten Tyrin and me out of the charges we were facing for money laundering, but ever since then, he’d made it clear that he and I were over. I’d made every attempt to contact him so that we could talk about things, but nothing was getting through to him.
I had been living out of hotels and off the money that I had in my savings since KaeDee put me out of the house and fired me from the firm that was supposed to be ours. I was only allowed to see Chanel every other weekend, and that was eating me up more than anything. I wanted my family back together so bad and for things to go back to normal. I really hoped that I hadn’t lost KaeDee completely
.
“What’s up?” KaeDee asked as he stepped out of the car wearing a navy Brooks Brothers blazer with a white collared shirt underneath, gray slacks, and a pair of Giuseppe loafers on his feet. He adjusted the tartan on his head before sliding his hands into his pockets and leaning against the hood of his car.
“How is Chanel?”
“She’s fine.”
“KaeDee, I really want to come home and to fix our marriage.”
KaeDee chuckled. “Why? Are you tired of that nigga Tyrin again?”
“I just wanna come home. I want us to fix this. Why are so you ready to give up on me?”
“I guess ’cause I found out how quick it was for you to jump in another nigga’s bed. I mean, after you sit up and lied to me when I asked you was you or have you fucked that nigga . . . you told me no, and then I followed your ass to that hotel and found you getting ready to lay down with this man. Then we get up in this courtroom and I find out you was fucking the nigga while I was locked up for beating his bitch ass. What? You felt obligated to go and lick that nigga’s wounds or something?”
I closed my eyes tightly, and then opened them again. I stared at the ground for a few moments before looking back at KaeDee. I could see that I had really hurt him, and none of it had been intentional. I was just struggling with the feelings that I had for two men in my life that meant something great to me, but I had come to realize that my family meant more to me than the excitement and fun that I had with Tyrin. After spending a few weeks with him, I woke up and realized that it would never work with us, which was why I had left him behind the first time.
“I made a mistake. Tyrin was a part of my past that I left behind, because it wasn’t the life I wanted to live. When he came here and I went to talk to him about why he was bribing you into defending him, I had a weak moment. I started feeling things for him that I thought I didn’t feel anymore. When I left Tyrin before I met you, I was still in love with him. I won’t lie to you about that. Seeing him again, I just realized that things were left unresolved, and I made the mistake of wanting to see where things would go between us.”
KaeDee sucked his teeth and pulled his hands from his pockets. He walked around the car and went to the driver’s side to get in his car. I rushed over to him and grabbed the door before he could close it.
“I’m trying to be honest with you, KaeDee,” I told him with pleading eyes.
“So, you’ve been fucking this nigga the whole fucking time you’ve been gone, Deonna?” KaeDee yelled as he slammed his fist into his steering wheel.
“It was a mistake, and I know that’s not where I wanna be.”
“But that’s where the fuck you gonna be. Get the fuck away from me,” KaeDee said and tried to close the door.
“KaeDee, he won’t stop bothering me. I told him over a week ago that I was done with him, and he refuses to leave me alone. He said that I can’t leave him again or he will kill me,” I told him as I desperately held onto his door and tried to keep him from closing it on me.
“I don’t give a fuck what that nigga told you! That’s your problem. You deal with it. Now, get the fuck back!” KaeDee roared.
I stepped back and tried my hardest to fight the tears that threatened to fall from my eyes. KaeDee smashed down on the gas and bolted out of the driveway. I walked over to my car, got inside, and decided that I was going to hit Amber up to see if she had time to chat. She had been going through the fire with Dae’s ass, and I knew if anybody knew what it was like dating a Prince, then she did. These niggas was the most stubborn niggas to ever grace this planet, and I couldn’t believe I’d made the mistake of ever fucking over KaeDee.
Amber texted me back immediately, telling me to please come over and she would make us some Pink Panties, but I told her I would opt for a light wine instead, because I was pregnant. I turned my car around and headed for the expressway so that I could go to her house.
I had known Amber ever since I moved from D.C. to be with KaeDee, and she was one of the most kindhearted women I had ever met. I knew that I could be truthful with her about everything, and she would never judge me.
It took me about thirty minutes to get to Amber and Dae’s place, and I quickly parked my car out front and went to ring the bell. Amber answered the door within seconds, and we hugged and walked inside to her entertainment room to sit down. As soon as I got comfortable on the sofa, I let it all out, telling her about my relationship with Tyrin, from when I lived in Miami, the things I did for him that led to my legal problems, and then, up until now, while I had been sleeping with him. I told her about how bad I felt and how stupid I was for fucking up a good thing with KaeDee over a man that I knew I could never be with.
“I’m not gonna lie to you, Amber. I know how KaeDee is, and he barely speaks to Dae now because of the things he’s done. Girl, you got yourself—”
Amber and I both looked up at the sound of someone barging through the front door. She stood up just as Dae made his way into the entertainment room. He looked at me, and then pulled his dreads from his face before looking at Amber. His face was ridiculously swollen, and his right eye was damn near closed shut. I tried not to stare, but Dae was always in some shit. Amber was right. That nigga had pissed KaeDee off so much that he was on the verge of disowning him.
“So, that’s your stuff by the door?”
“Don’t act surprised, Dae. I told you last night that I was leaving. Khi told me that he would come and pick Daelan and me up later this evening after he got done with his meeting.”
“Oh, that’s what the fuck he told you?” Dae asked, seeming to get more upset. “What the fuck is this bitch doing in my house?”
I sighed and rolled my eyes, but I wasn’t worried about his ass. I knew that he wouldn’t dare put his hands on me again.
“Don’t get mad at me because she’s leaving your woman-beating ass,” I told him and stood to my feet to leave.
“Bitch, fuck you, you dick-sucking, tranny-looking ho. Dyke-looking ass. Like you ain’t out here sucking two dicks at time. I swear, hoes love to judge a nigga,” he spat and looked at Amber angrily.
I was about to leave, but the look in Dae’s eyes told me he was about to do something real stupid, and I wasn’t about to let sis get her ass beat by this fool again.
“Got this ho and everybody thinking I’m just over here beating on your ass for no reason. Tell that ho why!”
“I don’t know! You tell her why so I can hear this shit and find out too!”
“Oh, so you don’t know why the fuck I be beating your ass? You gonna stand here and act like you don’t know that Little Dae isn’t mine?”
“What?” Amber and I said at the same damn time.
Chapter 17
Daelan
I stood in my entertainment room, mad as fuck that Amber had this other ho there judging me like she was innocent. Neither of those bitches had the nerve to say anything about me and what the fuck I did. I knew I made hella mistakes, but I was sick of Amber faking shit and trying to act like she ain’t never did nothing wrong. Every muthafuckin’ time I looked into Little Dae’s eyes, I knew he wasn’t mine. My skin was dark caramel and I had hazel eyes, and Amber had a cocoa brown complexion with dark brown eyes, but somehow, we had created a little boy that was light as a muthafucka with light brown eyes. I waited year after year for this little nigga to darken up and start looking like me, but each year, he looked more and more like somebody else. He was not my son, and this ho was gonna admit that shit.
“Dae, you outta your fuckin’ mind. You know damn well D.J. is your son. How could you say something like that?”
“What the fuck you mean? Have you not looked at your son lately? You gonna sit here and act like he don’t look like that other nigga you fucked?”
“I’m not acting like anything, and he doesn’t look like any nigga, because I haven’t fucked anyone! He looks just like you! You’re fucking delusional!”
“No, bitch, you fuckin’ delusional. You wond
er why I be out here running through these hoes. You the reason I’m like this. I was fuckin’ fine until three years ago when I started realizing that he wasn’t mine. That was supposed to be my first fucking son, and you fucked that up. You named him after me, knowing he belonged to someone else. Admit that shit, Amber! Admit it!”
“There’s nothing for me to admit, because nothing ever happened. We’re leaving this evening, so it doesn’t even matter. We don’t have to be in your life, Daelan. And if me and Little Dae being around is causing you so many problems, then we both will happily leave.”
“You know what, bitch? You leave. You leave, and you leave the kid here. Whether he’s mine or not, I’m the only man he knows, and I’m not about to let you come between us. Conniving ass,” I said and walked off to my bedroom to get some clothes. I had Khi’s ass outside waiting for me to shower and get dressed for this meeting we had with Tamar’s bitch ass. His thirsty-ass sister acted like she couldn’t take no for an answer and had been blowing my phone up ever since I told her the night before that we couldn’t see each other anymore. I’d even told her that I would pay for her to move back to Miami and hit her off with a few extra coins if she needed, but shorty wasn’t trying to hear that shit.
I could feel my phone vibrating in my pocket now as I made my way to the bathroom to quickly clean up as best as I could. Khi really flipped out on a nigga, but I knew that shit was going to happen. Even though I had fucked up again, Khi was giving me another chance to prove myself to him. He was right about everything. He was the only one of my brothers that constantly stayed on my ass and tried to help me. I fought with his ass like I hated him, but I loved that nigga ’til the death of me. I was gonna make sure I straightened the fuck up and did right. I didn’t wanna disappoint him, plus I loved what I did. This dope shit made me feel superior, nigga.
Taylana: I really need to talk to you. Please answer me. I know you’re gonna be at my brother’s today.
