I raise my head and glare at them.
They both stand and climb into the bed, one on each side, keeping as much distance between each other as possible.
I roll onto my side, facing Oren, getting as close as I can. Reaching behind me, I tug on Bael’s shirt to pull him closer to me so he’s flush against my back.
I exhale a deep breath, feeling safe and protected, falling into a deep sleep.
Waking, I run my hand along the cool sheets. What the hell? I sit up in the empty bed, my jaw clenching, and I jerk the covers to the side, jumping out of bed.
Storming through the door, I slam it closed behind me. At the bottom of the stairs, I listen for the tenor voices of my mates coming from the study.
Stomping my feet, I sling the door open so hard, it bounces off the wall.
They freeze, and four sets of wide eyes lock on me.
My breath comes out in big gasps as I try to slow it down and rein in my anger. “What are you doing?”
Drake stands, walking toward me. “We didn’t want to wake you, and we needed to make some plans.”
I take a deep breath and exhale. “Plans you are going to fill me in on, right?”
“Yes, love. Would you like some coffee?” Drake loops an arm around me and walks me over to the couch.
Good answer. I guess I’ll let them off the hook this time.
I nod, taking a seat between Eli and Bael. “Yes, please.”
He smiles, leaving the study.
Eli’s hand goes to my back, rubbing in circles, while Bael places a hand on my thigh, seeking physical contact.
Drake steps back into the room, bringing me a cup of heaven, and I take a big gulp, humming in the back of my throat. “So, what’s going on?”
Oren leans forward on his knees. “We think the best course of action will be to go after R, catch him by surprise, and to reconnect you with your family.”
My hands shake, and my stomach tightens. I think I’m going to be sick. “Will it just be me and you?”
He meets my stare. “No, it will be better if we stick together. R won’t expect us to make a move first.”
Releasing a deep breath, I meet each of their gazes. “So, we are going to Kheelan?”
Oren smiles at me. “We’re going to Kheelan. Are you ready?”
Fuck no. My stomach is in knots and my throat feels tight, but I swallow around the dryness.
“No, but let’s go.”
