Surrendered: The Rise, Fall & Revolution of Kwame Kilpatrick Page 28

by Kwame Kilpatrick

Marriage is a process, one that takes courage, selflessness, failure, success, loss, victory, ups, downs, good times, bad times and many other life experiences before a couple is truly united as one in marriage.

Your love, which can only be explained through faith, and the awesome power of God inspires me to be who God made me to be. You helped me understand this, as it says in 1 Corinthians 13, “Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful and endures through every circumstance.”

I have to admit that there have been times I was a little nervous when you were in the kitchen making grits. J But faith, hope and a lot of prayer got me through, as well as my occasional and sudden needs to leave the house until I was certain the grits had substantially cooled. But I digress!

Thank you so much for being my much better half, and answering God’s call to be my wife, and Jelani, Jalil and Jonas’s Mom! Happy birthday, Carlita Ebony Kilpatrick. Celebrate, and enjoy being forty and fine!
