“Ronnie raped me,” she whispered loud enough so he could hear her.

“What!” he yelled as he hopped off the couch. “I swear on everything I love I’m ‘bout to kill this nigga,” he said, rushing toward the door.

“Cali, wait!” Aleesha yelled after him.

“What you mean wait?” he asked as he turned around to look at her.

“He threatened to kill me if I told anybody.”

“What?” Cali asked, getting even more hyped. “Man, don’t worry about shit babe, you ain’t gotta worry about this nigga ever again,” he said, opening the door.

“Cali, please don’t leave me here by myself,” Aleesha cried out, afraid.

Cali walked back over to her and tenderly kissed her lips. “I’m sorry babe. I’m not gone ever leave you alone again. Come on,” he said as he helped her off the couch.

  ***

They arrived at Milasia’s and Cali instructed Aleesha to stay in his Range Rover. He went and knocked on the door, and Milasia answered it.

  “Wassup sis?” he casually asked.

“Nothin’. You talked to Leelee?” Milasia asked, concerned.

“Yeah she in the car, she not feelin’ too good. Ronnie in here?”

“Yeah, he in the room sleep. Why?”

“Nothin’, I gotta discuss some real important business with him.”

“Okay, he don’t like being woke up out of his sleep so if he has an attitude, I told you so,” Milasia specified.

“Yeah, yeah, yeah. Go holla at Aleesha real quick,” Cali said, trying to hurry up and get inside the apartment.

“Why, what happened?” she asked worriedly.

“Nothin’, she wanted to talk to you about Diego and to see if y’all was still goin’?”

  “Yeah, if she wants to.”

“Aight well go holla at her so I can talk to Ronnie real quick,” Cali said, trying to get her out of the apartment.

“Aight,” Milasia said as she walked to his vehicle.

Cali walked inside the apartment and shut the door behind him. He went to Milasia’s room and saw Ronnie laying in the bed through the crack in the door. He walked in, shut the door behind him and pulled out his Colt .45 firearm. He walked over to Ronnie, and hit him with the butt of the gun right in the middle of his forehead.

“Oh shit. What the fuck!” Ronnie yelled, waking up. The gash from the blow he just received started leaking as he swiftly sat up in the bed.

“Yeah, get up bitch,” Cali told Ronnie as pointed the gun at his head.

“Man—” Ronnie began to say, but before he could say anything else, Cali bitch slapped him with the gun, knocking a tooth loose. “Ah!” he yelled out in agony.

“Shut the fuck up!” Cali yelled as he grabbed Ronnie by the shirt. “You think it’s cool to rape women, cuh? My bitch especially?” he asked as he hit him again with the .45.

“Man, didn’t nobody rape her, she wanted to fuck,” Ronnie said, getting lightheaded.

“Cuh!” Cali yelled as he hit him again with the pistol. “So you callin’ my girl a liar?! And you put yo hands on her!” he stated as he hit him in the head again, opening the wound and making it bleed more as Ronnie yelped from the pain.

“Man it wasn’t like that,” Ronnie retorted, about to pass out.

“You a mark ass nigga, cuh. I let you get away with all the shit you did to my sister, ‘cause her stupid ass always stopped me. But you ain’t gettin’ away with this, cuh. You don’t even deserve to breathe in my presence.”

  POW!

The .45 went off as Cali shot Ronnie in the temple. He let go of Ronnie’s shirt, and let his lifeless body collapse onto the bed.

  Meanwhile In the Car...

Aleesha sat thinking in the Range Rover. When she saw Milasia approaching, she instantly felt sick. She opened the door and started throwing up in the street.

“Aleesha, you okay?” Milasia asked as she jogged to her friend’s side.

“No,” she answered once all the vomit was out, wiping the throw up off her mouth with her hand. She reached in the glove compartment and pulled out a napkin to clean her hand off.

“Bitch, you pregnant!” Milasia exclaimed, getting happy for her friend.

“No, I’m not,” Aleesha said bitterly, shutting the door.

“Damn you rude,” Milasia replied as she walked to the other side of the Range Rover and got in the driver’s seat.

“Sorry,” Aleesha said when Milasia shut the door.

“You good, boo. What is it, food poisoning?” Milasia asked nonchalantly.

Aleesha looked up and as she was about to answer her back, Milasia noticed her lip. “Bitch what the fuck happened? Did Cali do this to you?” Milasia asked with concern in her voice. Aleesha tried to fight back the tears but the waterworks just started coming. “Leelee, what happened?” Milasia asked, rubbing her friend’s back. Aleesha looked up and right as she was about to answer her, they heard a loud boom.

“What the fuck was that?” Milasia yelled, instantly getting terrified. She hopped out of the car and ran toward her apartment, with Aleesha following close behind her.

“Mila, wait!” Aleesha yelled after her.

Milasia ran all the way into the apartment, with Aleesha right behind her. “Ay, Cali, babe, did y’all hear that?” she asked, walking toward her room. As soon as she opened the door, she stood there and screamed.

“Shut the fuck up!” Cali shouted, rushing toward her. She immediately hushed up when she saw the gun in his hands.

“Oh my God,” Aleesha said, covering her mouth.

“Cali, what did you do?” Milasia asked in a low voice as she backed up against the wall in the hallway. She slid to the floor and looked dazed. “Why?” she asked as tears started falling.

  “Tell her, Aleesha,” Cali said.

Aleesha stood shaking her head, looking back and forth between the two with her hand still on her mouth.

“Tell me what, Leelee?” Milasia asked, looking up at Aleesha.

“Babe, tell her,” Cali told Aleesha and she kept shaking her head no. “Tell her!” he yelled, frightening both women and making them jump.

“He raped me,” Aleesha finally managed to get out, looking at Milasia.

Now it was Milasia’s turn to start shaking her head. “No,” she said, looking at the floor, not wanting to believe what was being told to her. She knew Ronnie could get a little abusive, especially after he smoked, but she couldn’t believe that he would rape someone.

“Cuh, what you mean no?” Cali asked, getting angry.

“I’m sorry, Mila,” Aleesha said, kneeling on the floor to console her friend.

“You ain’t got nothin’ to be sorry about,” Cali said, walking back to the body.

“I should have known,” Milasia said as she continued to cry and stare into space.

Cali knew he had to dispose of Ronnie’s body quickly, so the first thing he thought to do was wrap his body up in the sheets. “Mila, where’s this nigga’s keys?” he asked his stepsister, looking around the room.

“His car is in the shop, he walked over here,” she answered, slowly coming out of her trance.

Cali couldn’t decide what to do, but he didn’t want the women to keep looking at the body, so he picked it up, carried it to the restroom, and put it in the tub. “Come on y’all. We need to get out of here until I move this body,” he said once he walked back into the room.

The women followed Cali out and got in his car. He dropped both of them off at his place, so he could go run a couple of errands. While Aleesha was in the restroom, Milasia left without saying a word. Aleesha tried calling her, but her phone kept going to voicemail. When Cali got back and noticed Milasia wasn’t there, he went back to her apartment to see if she had gone back home. She wasn’t there so they figured she went to clear her head, and gave up looking for her.

Later that night when it was dark outside and not a soul was in sight, Cali went back to Milasia’s to retrieve the body. He
put it in his trunk and drove until he came to a dark, desolated dead end street. He stopped next to a manhole on the side walk, lifted the cover off of it and sat it on the curb. He then got the body out the trunk, and laid it on the sidewalk. He poured lighter fluid all over the body, lit it on fire, and pushed it into the hole. He then put the cover back over the hole, hopped in his car, and was gone into the night.

  The Scare

The next couple of weeks were like a blur to Aleesha and Milasia. Both women seemed to be traumatized by the events that had taken place, and they both became distant from their family and friends. Neither one of them had spoken to or seen each other since Milasia had left Cali’s apartment that day. The only two people Aleesha talked to were Cali and Lala. Milasia however, distanced herself away from everyone.

A few days after the incident, Milasia moved into a new place. She couldn’t face being in the old apartment, let alone sleeping in there, knowing Ronnie was murdered in her room. Every time she would walk into the room, visions of his bloody body would come to her. She couldn’t bear bringing any of her furniture, especially the bed, with her. The only things that came with her were her flat screen TV’s, clothes, kitchen appliances and various bathroom items. The rest of it was thrown away. She had started partying harder, drinking more, sniffing coke and popping ecstasy pills to avoid thinking about Ronnie, and what her brother did with his body.

Aleesha, on the other hand, would have nightmares and wake up in cold sweats. She had stopped sleeping over at Cali’s, because the image of seeing a man when she woke up terrified her, so Lala temporarily moved in with her. When they talked on the phone, Aleesha and Cali’s relationship seemed fine. But whenever they were around each other, Aleesha would push him away. He tried to continue to be there for his girlfriend, but the more she pushed him away, the harder it became.

One morning, Cali came over with breakfast for everyone. As they were all sitting at the kitchen table eating, Aleesha bit into a biscuit, and some jelly smeared on her face. Cali tried wiping it away but as soon as he touched her face, an argument began.

“Don’t touch me!” Aleesha yelled, smacking his hand away.

“Damn, I was just trying to get the jelly off yo face,” Cali responded, trying to defend himself.

“I can do it,” she said as she wiped the jelly with her hand and sucked it off her fingers.

“Man, you trippin’,” he said, shaking his head.

“No, I’m not,” she said as she gave him a deadly stare.

“Whatever. I ain’t even fuckin’ hungry no more, cuh,” Cali got up from the table.

“So,” Aleesha said, rolling her eyes.

“Why the fuck you got a attitude this early in the mornin’?” he asked as he threw the remainder of the food on his plate away, and sat his plate in the sink.

“I don’t have a fucking attitude, and don’t be fucking cussing at me!” she yelled back

“Don’t be slappin’ my hand away. Damn! A nigga can’t even touch his own girl!”

“Maybe I don’t want you touching me.”

“Man, it’s too early for all this shit. I’m gone,” Cali said as he left out of the kitchen.

“Bye,” Aleesha countered as she bit into her food.

“Man cuh call me when you off yo fuckin’ period,” he said as he stormed out, slamming the front door behind him. Aleesha got up and went to the restroom.

Lala sat eating her food while the couple argued. After Cali left, she knew she had to talk to her best friend to prevent her from pushing Cali out of her life completely. She put the food away, cleaned off the table and washed the few dishes in the sink, and went to the restroom to have a chat with Aleesha.

“Leelee, you okay?” Lala asked after she knocked on the door.

“No,” Aleesha answered in a faint voice.

Lala opened the door and saw Aleesha huddled over the toilet. “Bestie, what’s wrong?” she asked as she took a seat on the tub next to the toilet.

“I don’t know,” Aleesha said, gagging as if she was going to throw up again.

“Best friend ... are you pregnant?” Lala asked with hesitation.

“I don’t know,” Aleesha answered, beginning to cry.

“Don’t cry, it’s gone be okay. Did you ever go get tested after that happened?”

“No. I’m scared,” Aleesha answered, looking up her.

“Aleesha, you know better than that,” Lala stated disappointingly. “You know that just because you don’t have any symptoms, some diseases can stop your period.”

“I know, but what if I am pregnant by him?”

“You can get an abortion,” Lala suggested.

“You know I don’t believe in abortions,” Aleesha clarified.

“Yeah Leelee, but it’s different. You were raped.”

“So what? I can’t punish a child for the mistakes their sperm donor made.”

“Well, we won’t know for sure until you go get checked out anyway. C’mon, I’ll take you.”

  “Okay.”

Lala helped Aleesha up and cleaned off her face. She went and got their purses while Aleesha brushed her teeth, and then they were out the door.

  ***

The drive to the clinic seemed like the longest ever to Aleesha. She was scared and nervous at the same time. She hoped she wasn’t pregnant or had caught anything, but there was only one way she could find out. When they arrived, there were only a couple of other women waiting in the lobby. It wasn’t busy, so Aleesha knew she would be seen within the next hour. She signed in, filled out some paperwork, and took a seat until it was her turn to be called. It was only a 45 minute wait, but it seemed like eternity for her.

Once she was called back, Aleesha and Lala went into the examination room. Aleesha was asked a couple of questions by the nurse, then given a cup to pee in. She was led to the restroom, and after she urinated in the cup, the nurse collected it so they could test it. She went back into the exam room and after a few minutes the doctor came into the room with some results.

“Good news is, I have the results from the pregnancy test,” the doctor told Aleesha after they had become acquainted.

“And the bad news?” Aleesha asked.

“We won’t have the results from the other tests for two weeks. If you receive a call from us within that time, you have something to worry about. But if not, you’re in the clear.”

“Okay,” she answered as she nodded her head understandingly.

“So the pregnancy test came back negative.”

“Thank you Jesus,” Lala said aloud.

“Do you usually miss or have irregular periods?” the doctor asked.

“No, I get them around the same time every month,” Aleesha answered nervously.

“Okay, well if your period doesn’t come within the next two weeks, come back in and we’ll give you another test. Do you have unprotected sex often?”

“No. It was only one time,” Aleesha answered as she stared at the floor.

“Are you very sexually active?” the doctor asked.

“A little,” she responded as she looked back up at the doctor. “I haven’t been in a few weeks.”

“Okay, well sex can throw off your period, just as stress, lack of sleep and poor dieting can,” the doctor informed her.

“Yeah, I’ve been real stressed out lately.”

“Okay, well try and find an activity to help reduce your stress. In the meantime, try not to worry so much. I’m sure your other tests will come back negative as well.”

“Okay, thank you,” Aleesha said as she and Lala got up to leave.

“Would you like some free condoms before you go?” the doctor asked.

  “No thank you.”

“Okay, I’ll see you in two weeks if your period hasn’t come. You two ladies have a nice day.”

“Thank you. You too doc,” Aleesha said as they walked out.

After that, the next two weeks seemed to drag by for Aleesha. She didn’t know if she
would be receiving a call from the clinic or not, and thinking about it made her stress even more. When the two weeks finally passed and she hadn’t heard back from them, she knew she hadn’t caught anything. She still hadn’t started her period though, so she still ended up going back to the clinic. The results were still negative, which made Aleesha feel at ease. She knew it had to be too much stress that kept her period from coming, and now that she knew she wasn’t pregnant, she relaxed.

Aleesha and Cali hadn’t talked since their altercation, and she knew it was partly her fault. She had avoided his calls and didn’t text him back, and after the first week, he gave up trying. So after she left the clinic, she decided to drop by his apartment. When she arrived, she was glad to see his car parked outside.

“Babe, you busy?” she asked him when he answered his phone. She called him first, not wanting to pop up at his door unannounced.

  “Nah,” he simply stated.

  “Well, I’m outside.”

  “Come in.”

The door was already unlocked and opened for her before she reached it. When she walked inside, Cali was laid back on the couch in some shorts, exposing his chiseled tattooed chest, watching ESPN.

“What’s goin’ on?” he asked, not knowing what else to say. He wasn’t sure where they stood as a couple.

“Nothing. I came to talk to you,” she answered uneasily as she stood there.

“Aight,” he said as he turned off the TV.

Aleesha took a seat at the other end of the couch. “I’m sorry for the way I’ve been acting, and ignoring you. I’ve just had so much on my mind.”

“You ain’t gotta apologize,” he told her.

“No I do, that was way outta line. I was just so scared. I thought I was pregnant.” There was a long pause in the room.

“So are you?” Cali asked curiously.

“No, I just came back from the clinic. I got tested too.”

  “And?”

“He didn’t give me anything,” Aleesha said, sounding relieved.

“Man, I should have been there for you,” Cali said as he raised up and scooted next to her. He put his arm around her and her whole body tensed up. “Babe.”
