“Bitch—”
“Ay, ay, ay. Calm all that down,” Aleesha intervened, cutting the woman off. “This shit is childish.”
“Bitch, who the fuck are you?” she asked Aleesha with attitude.
Aleesha quickly reached her hand inside the side of her bra and pulled her .22 out. “I’m the bitch you don’t want to fuck with. Now, I don’t know about y’all, but I’m really not tryna get into no gunplay tonight. So please, just excuse yourselves before I commit a couple 187’s,” she casually stated.
Fear overcame the women, and they exited out the bathroom without saying another word.
“Damn Leelee, you didn’t have to do all that,” Milasia joked while laughing.
“Bitch, I’m not about to be get into a petty ass fight,” Aleesha heatedly replied. “Did you forget I’m pregnant?”
“Oh yeah, my bad Aleesha,” Milasia regretfully apologized.
“What nigga was that bitch talking about anyway?” Aleesha asked walking into the stall.
“Bitch, I don’t even know,” Milasia admitted, laughing.
“Wow Mila.”
Lala rolled her eyes. “I can’t deal with this shit tonight,” she said speaking up. “Aleesha, I’m leaving.”
Aleesha smacked her teeth. “Why best friend?” she whined.
“You know why.”
“How you gon’ leave and I drove us?” Aleesha smugly asked, thinking she had the upper hand.
“I’m going to have Kiara come get me.”
“Okay, fine,” Aleesha said with sadness in her voice.
After using the restroom the women returned to their table. As soon as they sat down a waitress came up with three drinks.
“Here you go ladies,” she said placing the drinks on their table.
“We didn’t order these,” Milasia said pointing at the drinks.
“They’re compliments of Mr. Dolla Sign himself,” she said with a smile, nodding her head in the direction of the rapper. “He thinks you ladies look amazing tonight and wanted you to enjoy yourselves.”
“Thank you, but I’m pregnant,” Aleesha said, refusing the drink. “Can I have a non-alcohol margarita?”
“Shit, I’m not. I’ll have hers,” Milasia said, grabbing the other cup. “Thanks.”
“Thanks,” Lala said picking a cup up and taking a sip.
“You ladies are welcome. I’ll be back with your drink,” she told Aleesha before walking away.
“Okay thank you,” Aleesha replied with a friendly smile.
The ladies sat back and after the waitress came back with Aleesha’s drink, everything became awkward. They all just sat looking around, sipping their drinks in an uncomfortable silence. No one had anything to say and no one besides Milasia wanted to be there. Luckily, just as Ty Dolla Sign was getting on the stage to perform, Kiara called Lala. She was outside to pick her up so Lala left Aleesha alone with Milasia, which Aleesha wasn’t in the mood for. She wanted to leave but she didn’t want to be rude, plus she wanted to see Ty Dolla Sign’s performance. But once that was over, she rushed Milasia out of the club so she could go home.
Aleesha drove them to her house and made a bagel and some coffee for Milasia so she could sober up and drive herself home. Milasia wanted to spend more time with her and even though Aleesha didn’t want to, they planned to do something together the next day. Once Milasia left, Aleesha snuggled into her bed and was out cold.

Sensi had followed the ladies to the club but got bored inside so she left and waited outside Aleesha’s house for her to return home. She immediately got angry when she saw Milasia go inside with Aleesha instead of getting in her car and leaving. She was hoping to have some alone time with Aleesha to tell her how she really felt but now she knew it wouldn’t happen. And the longer she waited for Milasia to leave, the angrier she became. She knew that if she didn’t get rid of Milasia now, she would soon be a major problem in her and Aleesha’s relationship. She waited and waited until Milasia finally came out the house and got in her 2015 Land Rover Evoque. Then, Sensi let her get a safe but viewable distance away before she started up her own car and followed her.
Sensi trailed Milasia all the way to her house. She parked down the street and watched Milasia get out her car and go inside. She didn’t see her turn on any lights, so she knew Milasia went straight into her room and got in bed. She waited a few minutes before she casually got out of her car and walked to the house. She tried to open the front door but it was locked so she started trying to pry open the windows. Every single one she tried was locked and she felt herself becoming frustrated because she couldn’t get inside. She was just about to give up until she decided to try the bathroom window and luckily for her, it was unlocked. She quietly opened it and climbed into the bathtub. She peeled back the shower curtain, climbed out the tub, and crept out the bathroom.
Sensi didn’t know which way to go when she first opened the door and stepped out the bathroom, but to her surprise when she looked to the left, Milasia was asleep on her couch. Sensi crept down the hallway and as soon as she approached Milasia she took her switchblade out of her pocket. She grabbed a pillow, put it over Milasia’s face and sat on it. Within 30 seconds, Milasia began to convulse as she tried breathing for air and Sensi became a raged animal. She stabbed Milasia in her chest and abdomen repeatedly, even after Milasia’s body stopped moving. She kept slicing and slicing, ripping Milasia’s body open one quick cut at a time. She even stabbed her a couple of times in the arms before slicing all of her fingers open.
I bet she won’t ditch me again for another hoe, Sensi thought to herself as she got up. She took the pillow off of Milasia’s face and stared at her for a few seconds, and a sick and twisted smile spread across her face. Milasia’s eyes were wide open, and the shocked and helpless look on her face made Sensi feel overjoyed. Sensi bent down next to Milasia and kissed her lips, letting out a slight chuckle before she gouged Milasia’s eyes out. After she ripped them out of the socket, she stuffed them in her pants pockets and grabbed the pillow before creeping out of the house.
Murder Suspect
Aleesha woke up with the most excruciating headache ever. It felt like someone was bashing a hammer against her skull. She sat up in bed for a second not wanting to move, until the pain started becoming too much to take. She rushed into her bathroom to her medicine cabinet, and dry swallowed two Tylenol pills. What the fuck? she thought to herself as she leaned on the sink counter.
After a few minutes the headache subdued a little. She went back into her room and laid down for a few minutes. She remembered she had plans with Milasia so she rolled up a blunt and smoked it before getting in the shower and getting dressed. Then she called Laila and told her that she would come get the twins in a few hours, and was out the door.
She arrived at Milasia’s house an hour later and called her before she got out of the car. Milasia didn’t answer on the first ring so Aleesha called back two more times. She still didn’t get an answer so she figured that if Milasia was still sleep, she would wake her up. Aleesha got out the car and as soon as she got to the door she started knocking on it. Her knock turned into banging for another minute before she gave up. She tried calling Milasia on the phone as she stood at the door, and she could hear Milasia’s ringtone. Her call went to voicemail and she knew something wasn’t right. She turned the doorknob and the door was unlocked so she let herself in. As she walked toward the living room she could see Milasia’s hair draped over the couch but once she had a full body view, she couldn’t believe her eyes.
“Aaahhhhhhhhhh!” Aleesha let out a loud scream as she stumbled backwards to the floor. Blood was everywhere and Aleesha had never seen something so gruesome in her life. She couldn’t stand the sight and began throwing up and crying. Who could have done this sick shit? she thought to herself.
She knew she had to pull herself together and call someone for help. She got off the floor and got her cell phone out of her purse. She dialed 911 and told the
operator to send an ambulance, then she called up her best friend.
Lala arrived a few minutes after the CSI team. She saw Aleesha sitting outside on the curb, staring off into space. She hopped out of her car and ran to her best friend’s side. “Leelee, what happened?” she asked in shock as she took a seat next to her.
Aleesha looked at her and broke down crying. “I don’t know La. I came over here because we were supposed to chill for a little today. She wasn’t answering her phone or the door and something just told me to walk in and I just found her laying there.”
“Damn,” Lala said in disbelief as she shook her head.
Just then, a black-on-black 2016 Chevy Impala with dark tinted windows pulled up. A black man in a long black trench coat got out of the car and walked up to the first officer he saw. They talked for a few minutes before the black man went inside the house. He came out three minutes later and walked straight over to Aleesha.
“Hello, Mrs. Williams,” he said, reaching out and shaking her hand. “I’m detective Steven Bowling, the lead homicide detective for this case. I understand you’re quite shaken up by what’s going on, but do you mind if I ask you a few questions?” he asked while taking out a notepad.
“No sir, not at all,” Aleesha answered, staring up at him the whole while.
“Okay, can you explain to me exactly what happened?”
“I don’t know. I found her laying on the couch and I called 911,” she reluctantly replied, not really wanting to cooperate.
“How did you get into Ms. Freeman’s house?” he asked, scribbling away at his notepad.
“The door was unlocked.”
“What were you doing over here?” he suspiciously asked her.
“We had plans and were supposed to be up early to hit the road.”
“Where were you guys going?”
“We were going to go to the beach. She needed to clear her head and she wanted to spend time with me.”
“Okay, so what happened when you got here?”
“I called her a few times and she didn’t answer. I figured she must have been getting dressed or something so I went and knocked on the door. I stood knocking for a few minutes and afterwards I called her again. I heard her cell phone ringing and it was just unusual for her not to answer it because her cell phone is always by her. I just so happen to turn the doorknob and it was unlocked so I let myself in. As soon as I walked in I saw her and dialed 911.”
“How well did you know Ms. Freeman?”
“Really well, we’ve been friends since middle school.”
“Was she seeing anyone?”
“No.”
“Do you know anyone who would have wanted her dead?”
“No, not someone capable of doing something like that.”
“When did you last see her?”
“Last night. We went to the club and we went back to my house. After she sobered up she drove home.”
“Did she mention anything out of the ordinary to you?”
“No. She was her regular happy, outgoing self.”
“Okay thank you.” He put his notepad away and pulled a card out of his front suit pocket. “Here’s my card. If you happen to think of anything you forgot to mention to me or the officers, don’t hesitate to give me a call.” He turned around to leave, but stopped and looked over his shoulder. “Oh, and don’t try to travel anywhere just yet. It’s best if you stay inside the county, just in case we need to question you again.”
“Dick,” Lala mumbled as he walked away.

Aleesha was so distraught but she couldn’t imagine the pain Milasia’s mother was feeling. Besides having Cali as a step-brother, Milasia was an only child and even though she and her mother weren’t always on the best of terms, Aleesha knew this was something her mother never wanted to do. Aleesha knew the best thing she could do was pay Milasia’s mom a visit to comfort her since she was Milasia’s closest friend.
It was later in the evening when Aleesha arrived at Milasia’s moms. She broke down crying as soon as she parked her car. Milasia’s mom stayed in the same house she had stayed in when Aleesha first met Milasia. After a few minutes Aleesha wiped her eyes, pulled herself together and got out the car. She went up to the door and tried to knock but couldn’t. Tears began to fall from her eyes so she turned around and began to walk away as the front door opened.
“Aleesha,” Milasia’s mom called out after her.
Aleesha wiped her tears away, turned around and walked up to her. “Hey Ms. Magdalena,” she said greeting her with a hug.
“I know you’re not leaving. Come inside,” Magdalena said motioning for Aleesha to come inside.
“Okay,” Aleesha reluctantly agreed.
They walked inside and Magdalena led Aleesha into the kitchen. Aleesha was surprised at how much food was prepared. There were tamales, enchiladas, a pot of menudo and other traditional Mexican dishes on the counter and stove. She took a seat and folded her hands on the table.
“I know you came over here to see how I’m doing but it seems like this is harder on you than me,” Magdalena said taking a seat opposite Aleesha.
“I don’t know what to say,” Aleesha said shrugging her shoulders.
“You don’t have to say anything mija. Death isn’t easy for everyone and I know it hurts because you had to be the one to find her.”
“I’m just so sorry you had to lose her,” Aleesha cried as she stared up into her eyes.
“It’s okay Aleesha. You have to learn to celebrate death,” Magdalena said getting up to get Aleesha a napkin. “She’s not suffering anymore.” She sat back down and handed Aleesha the napkin. “I feared for her sometimes because it seemed like she was going down the wrong path again, so I have to believe that this saved her.”
“Why do you think that?” Aleesha asked as she wiped the tears from her eyes.
“She became real secretive and closed off again. One time I showed up at her house and she was real fidgety and couldn’t look me in the eyes. She was doing good for a long time but I can tell something was effecting her. I know she really wanted to have kids and it was taking its toll on her that she couldn’t,” Magdalena explained.
“Why not?” Aleesha asked, confused.
“She never told you?” Magdalena asked her, surprised.
“No, not at all.”
“Well,” Magdalena said with and understanding look on her face, “that’s one part of her life that she doesn’t try to remember. I didn’t always have a good paying job to be able to afford my own place, especially having a daughter, but I managed. Her father left us when she was just a little girl. At that time I couldn’t afford where we were living so I applied for low income housing and moved into the projects. Things got really scary and I knew I couldn’t raise her in that area so I decided to move in with my older sister and her husband. I believe Mila was 10 at the time and I began saving up to afford this house we’re in right now. It was a nice five bedroom house my sister had. I had my own room and Mila shared a room with her cousin Ilene. My younger brother Jose also stayed with us. He was about 4 years older than Mila. Any who, by the time Mila was 12 she already had her period and had matured very quickly. So when she turned 13, I knew by that time she was already having sex, I just never imagined with who.
“One day, I noticed she was having morning sickness very frequently and I asked her if she was pregnant, but she denied it of course,” Magdalena said shamefully shaking her head. “When she finally did tell the truth about, it was a few months later. I got a call from the hospital telling me my daughter was rushed into the emergency room. When I got there, they told me she had a miscarriage because she had contracted chlamydia. She was four months pregnant and because of how long she had the disease they said she would never be able to have children again. I asked her who she was having sex with and she finally confessed to me that she was having sex with Jose, and they were in love.”
Aleesha couldn’t say anything. She was in so m
uch shock and couldn’t believe what she was hearing. She just stared at Magdalena wide eyed.
“I know, I didn’t believe it either,” Magdalena regretfully said, noticing the look on Aleesha’s face. “But when I went home and found medicine for the disease in Jose’s drawer, I knew it was true. He was at work at the time but when he came home that night I confronted him about it. He left storming out the house cursing me for accusing him, but he came back later that night and picked Mila up and they ran away to Mexico. If it wasn’t for him getting killed, she would have still probably been out there. I still don’t know exactly what happened with him or if that’s even the truth, but that’s all that she told me. And once she was back she pretended like it never happened.
“That’s why Mila was 15 when you met her. I got her right back into school where she left off. I knew that experience changed her and I tried getting her help but she reassured me everything was fine. I was engaged to Henry when she first came back and we had been in this house for about three months before we got married. I was really skeptical at first because I wasn’t sure if she would be comfortable being here and I feared losing her again, but she grew to love Henry like a father.”
“Oh my,” Aleesha finally said shaking her head. She never even had a hint of what Milasia’s life was like before they met.
“Yeah, but I knew deep down inside she was changed by then. It was like she had already given up on life.”
“You would have never guessed she went through all that,” Aleesha said in astonishment. “She was always so outgoing and flirtatious with everyone.”
“Yes she was,” Magdalena said shaking her head in agreeance. “I know it was wrong but I believe they were actually in love. And after losing him, she just needed some companionship but I don’t think anyone was ever able to fill that void. But, for the most part, she was happy and I believe that she enjoyed her life. As long as we celebrate her and remember the good times we shared with her, you will feel no pain.”
