Signal to Murder Page 28

by Rhone Sonnier

In their car Keith says to Nana Marguerite, “I will never be caught off guard again. I will seek more martial arts training, additional weapons expertise training, and will always be armed to defend myself and my family against my Carlos whoever he may be. In my heart, I know now that Kate was not acting alone and she will not be the last to exact whatever vengeance is intended for the Sorrell’s.”

I think to myself, “Today’s morbid cemetery scene has helped me to realize I along with my Sorrell family have a nemesis out there somewhere planning the next murder attempt on our lives. I know I am very tired and need rest. Once more, the word peace comes to my mind. Why can’t we have peace? I then recall Grandfather Francis warning me to be careful of what I wish for. I am sure he will explain his meaning someday and so I do not question his logic.”

Meanwhile, unbeknown to the Sorrell’s, Hernandez and Breau, Su Chi Ku, The SWAT officer, or Devon Carter their nemesis, Six, El Sicko, the extortionist, Danny O`Grady, has just arrived at the Trailways Bus Terminal in Dallas, Texas.

Six briefly contemplates his situation: I have some old military buddies from my time in Afghanistan expecting me here in Dallas, Texas. They can use my particular style of photography experience, and have claimed in exchange they are willing to help me get settled here. I never thought my abilities would be in demand again, go figure.

The nemesis of the Sorrell family will do the photography work as agreed, but he will continue contemplating how to best punish the Sorrell’s. Six assumes that Kate successfully eliminated Sis and that only Kate, Su Chi Ku and the SWAT officer know the extortionist by the name Six and no one suspects them of any wrong doing or having such knowledge.

The Sorrell’s, Hernandez and Breau know that the nemesis’ real identity is not Danny O’Grady, the missing bus driver. They do not know that El Sicko, the extortionist/blackmailer, is the brother of the deceased Tabatha Marie (Sis) Taylor. They do not know that Sis and Kate Miller were part of a drug trafficking ring and Six used this information to blackmail Kate Miller and force her to make the attempt on Keith’s life. Six is not yet aware that she failed in her mission and was killed.

As Six disembarks from the bus in Dallas his main thought is on where to buy some much needed buttermilk. He must get back to work using his true identity, James Peace Taylor, as he was nicknamed in high school. James Peace Taylor the associate and former co-worker of Keith Edwards. The same James Peace Taylor that worked for The Herald and accompanied Keith Edwards to Afghanistan. Taylor is making future diabolical plans to torture and or possibly murder the Sorrell’s, “Signal 2 Murder, Deja vu.”
