The object in her palm was no rock; it was a fat diamond, rough like Nash; a proper and serious offer in her culture. Adelina rolled the gem between her fingers as she stared out at the city before her. War was coming and no promise was unbreakable during such times.
It was time to do her part. Her people suffered and there was only one thing Adelina was good at. She whipped around and stalked towards the palace.
“Princess?” Nadyah asked as she caught up.
Alpha came up on her other side and his presence combined with Nadyah’s gave her strength.
“It’s time to find answers. I will present my case to Raena and I will find a way to convince her that the Drakesthai could help us. I will not let my people or Nash die when I could have done something to help.”
“Do you think she’ll allow you to go?” Alpha asked.
“I’m no warrior, but this I can do. Raena will grant my request.” The words were sure and confident. Adelina wasn’t positive how, but she would make Raena see reason before it was too late.
She would move more pieces across the board until it was all exactly where she needed. First a starship and a mechanic she could trust to upgrade the tech. Then she needed a strategy and forces to back her up that wouldn’t come from the Draga Army.
“I will not be coddled and protected anymore,” Adelina vowed. “It’s time to show all of Draga what I’m capable of.”
Nadyah’s wicked grin was more agreement and support than Adelina could have hoped for. “Good,” the courtesan said. “They deserve to find out what they’ve overlooked all these cycles.”
Adelina stopped before the palace and looked back at the docks, empty of the Kharan warships.
It was time to make her own destiny.

Do you like Space Opera Adventure Romance?
While you wait for the next Draga Court release you could check out my other series which is a space opera adventure like Star Wars or Killjoys with a bit of romance.
The two series are separated by heat levels, but if you do like slow burn romance I’d recommend these written under my non-steamy name, Jillian Ashe. Currently they are only available on Kindle, but are DRM free for conversion.

About the Author
Emma Dean lives and works in California with her husband and son. She loves romance but needed something different so Draga Court was born. With too many stories to write the schedule has been filled through 2018.
When she’s not writing she’s reading, or spending time with her family.
With publishing now at least she has an excuse for not folding the laundry ;-)
