Annabelle snorted and Marcus’s hold on her tightened. “I’m capable of doing what needs to be done, and I will continue my venture, but if it does get to be too much, I will enlist help.” She spoke her mind, all the while quivering.
Damn it, I did it again! Insert foot!
Sorente tossed his head back and roared with laughter so loud the glass windows shook, the walls creaked, and her ears rang. “Oh, you will do perfectly for these three.” The dragon smiled showing his sharp teeth.
“My brothers and I were nervous pairing you with three men, but I can see our worry was for not. Guard her well gentlemen, because without your angel, you will be no more. Your lives are now joined together; there cannot be one without the other. She dies, you die, Annabelle is your peace, your compassion, your soul.”
With those last words a powerful flow of energy filled the room, and into each of them. Annabelle could have sworn that every hair on her body now stood at attention, she was so full of static energy. Emusa disappeared as quickly as he had appeared, leaving all of them stunned, until Marcus turned her around and shook her.
“I swear Annabelle, I should spank your ass till it’s raw. What the hell were you thinking?” Marcus yelled as all three of them glared at her.
Annabelle sighed and pushed Alocer out of the way. Going to the little wooden bench, Annabelle grabbed her purse that was still intact after Tarsus’ attack and reached for the small torn letter. She looked up, Marcus stood in front of her now so she handed the letter to him. “This is why Marcus.”
Marcus very carefully opened the worn-out paper, Alocer and Lance crowded around him reading the letter with him.
Help! My name is Tessa and I don’t know what else to do. I have tried other agencies but so far nothing. If you need to get hold of me you will be able to find my children and myself at night, under the Landcore Bridge, the Riverdale side. I hope you can help me, or us.
I have four children, the youngest two years old and the oldest twelve. My husband was shot on his way to work over a year ago. With his untimely death, (Husband didn’t make will) his family came in and took everything. I’m at my wits end, they have thrown us out of our home and I struggle each day to make sure my children have food.

“I went there before coming here, which is why I was crying, everything in that letter was true. I gave the woman all the money I had and told her to go to our hotel. Someone had beaten her pretty bad recently.” Annabelle smiled at them. “We both looked like we were boxers; you should have seen us together.” Annabelle glanced down at the ground, then back up at Marcus.
“She held her two year old in her arms, the other three surrounded her, afraid. I saw myself there Marcus with our children. I can’t give up. Too many need help. Did she show up?”
“Annabelle.” Marcus sighed and opened his arms, which she flew into. “Yes, she showed up, that is how we knew you were still alive. My mom and yours have her all set up in her own set of rooms, until we can find her a place to live, but baby, you won’t be able to help everyone.”
Annabelle looked up and smiled. “I know, but I have to try Marcus. I have this strange feeling things are going to get worse around here before they get better.”
“You are indeed wise Annabelle, things will get much worse.” Sorente voice spoke and Marcus hugged her tighter, Alocer and Lance both kissed her head.
In that minute Annabelle was scared, and thankful for the men that surrounded her, because she knew that whatever was coming, she would need them by her side, her three very wise men.
