Chailyn arched under him as Mitchell came. She moaned as her release overcame her. The pleasure made her shake as she held him and they came together. Mitchell slowed his motions then slumped against her before he went still. She rubbed her hand up and down his sweat slick back. Mitchell turned his head and kissed her. They lazily kissed and her breathing as well as his calmed.

Soon Mitchell rolled off her then disposed of the condom. He turned back to her laying on his side. She moved to him mirroring sliding her leg between his. He cupped her ass and pulled her against him. Chailyn moaned as she felt him harden against her.

  “Condom in the draw.”

He turned and retrieved it. She took it from him and rolled it onto his now revived erection. Mitchell moved back into the same position. She moved her leg over his hip and sighed as he slid into her warmth. He held her butt as he moved into her. She moaned.

I could get used to this. Chailyn held him.

Chailyn bit her lip and watched Mitchell’s ass as he bent over the conference room table. She tried to remind herself they were at work so this was business. Just as she had earlier when he removed his jacket. Mitchell straightened and unbuttoned the cuff of his sleeves then rolled one then the other up. She blew out a breath and prayed for control.

For the last few weeks they had spent every night together and each time was better than the last. Yes, she was so getting used to having him in her bed. Hell, her life. They were able to keep their business separate from the personal. The best of both worlds.

“Stop watching my ass.” Mitchell said.

She looked up guiltily. His amused gaze met hers. She moved closer and reached for said ass. She squeezed and he jumped.

“You shouldn’t tempt me with it.”

He laughed. “Stop, we have a lot still to do.”

“Yeah.” She frowned. “It’s a pain in the ass we have to redo some of the work.”

“Yes.” Mitchell frowned. “I don’t know how the hell the files disappeared between your office and mine.” He shook his head. “The messenger company swears they delivered the files.”

“Yeah but they couldn’t tell us who signed for it.” Chailyn crossed her arms over her chest. “First the leak of we are working together and now this. Thank god we were ahead of schedule or we would have had to explain to Hayes.”

“We dodged a bullet for that.” Mitchell grimaced at the thought. “After the leak problem we can’t afford to have any more problems.”

“No.” She focused on the task at hand. “Let’s get this done. Then we can find someplace to take care of some personal business.”

“This is why I love being with you.” Mitchell laughed. “You know the way to my heart. First business with the reward of the personal side later.”

Chailyn’s breath caught at the words. Mitchell went back to the files. She stared at the side of his face.

Don’t read anything into what he said. It’s just a careless use of words. The man didn’t say he loved you. Did he?

Earth to Chailyn, Earth to Chailyn." A husky voice said in a singsong voice.

Guiltily Chailyn straightened from her lounging position on the floor of her living room and looked up to meet the amused dark brown, hazel, and green gazes of her girlfriends. She had been thinking about Mitchell and what he had said weeks ago. He hadn’t said it again but it was still on her mind. They had still been spending a lot of time together and she enjoyed it. Hell, it wouldn’t matter if he did say the words. She wasn’t sure how she felt about him. She didn’t want to think of it. She had her career and plan for her company.

"Hmm..." Chailyn glanced from her friends to her sister, Cameron Kincaid, who had spoken.

Tapping a manicured finger on her lip Sineda spoke next, "I wonder what has that goofy smile on your face."

"Perhaps it has to do with a man." Myra Cramer interjected.

With a quick look around, she saw the look exchanged by her three girlfriends and two sisters. From it, she knew Sineda had blabbed about her and Mitchell. Hoping to stop any question Chailyn tried to change the subject.

"Where is Kai? That girl is always late. I swear she would be late to her own wedding." She laughed.

The others joined her. Breathing a sigh of relief, as they started to talk about Kai's tendency for lateness, Chailyn studied her girls. Myra Cramer known as the firecracker of the group although it didn't have anything to do with her hair but her temper which was legendary. If you got on Myra's bad side she could cut you down with just two words and keep going. Next was the sophisticate, Nicolette Mannes. Although wealthy by birth, she was down to earth. Paige Temple was the warrior. People saw her laid-back ways as being easy to manipulate. Her classic beauty hid the heart of a warrior. Chailyn shook her head and marveled at how they had all become friends in college. The misfits in any group and with attitudes to match.

Thinking about attitudes Chailyn wondered where Kai Stephens another of girlfriends who was missing and should be there already was. Knowing Kai, she could be in any sort of trouble or solving some obscure mystery. Kai was a major nerd. You wouldn't think it if you saw her. People underestimated her caviler way she dressed and baby face. Kai was a genius and graduated from college at the ripe old age of eighteen. She was the reason they had all met. Being so young when she started college Kai had a tough adjustment. When some older and should know better of her classmates had decided to teach her a lesson by stranding her naked in the backwoods of campus.

Chailyn smiled remembering their meeting. After waiting for Tariq for fifteen minutes, at the spot he usually met her, to walk with her back to her dorm. She was cutting through the back way, after a long night at one of her three part-time jobs, she had to pay for school when she had heard the most colorful, awe inspiring swearing she had ever heard. She had stopped to listen and wondered if some of the things the person was saying were even possible. She was going to walk away, the other way, when a loud thump followed by silence had made her rush to make sure the person was okay. Her first sight of Kai was her sprawled over a log and naked as the day she was born. Her youth had surprised her. The only logical thing Chailyn could ask was why she was wandering the woods alone and where were her parents.

Kai's caramel face had gotten so red. Chailyn marveled even now how red her face was. The swear words Kai threw at her and hand gestures were shocking for someone so young. After catching herself, Chailyn had told her if she didn't stop she would wash her mouth out with Clorox and turn her over her knee. Kai just kept swearing and stood. Her cry of pain made Chailyn look down at her swollen and discolored ankle. Kai couldn’t walk and after getting the mix up straightened out, Chailyn had helped her up and back to the campus. They had run into Myra and Paige along the way. Myra was first and after her date had dumped her and she had to walk back to campus. She had helped. Paige was returning from a trip to the town library and her car had broken down.

Tariq had come rushing up apologizing he was late. He didn't even ask why they were all walking in the dark, with a naked young woman, and just took off his jacket and gave it to Kai then took over helping her along. A couple minutes later they had to jump out of the road as a car roared around the corner. The driver, Nicolette, stopped and apologized. She looked upset but offered them a lift after seeing Kai's ankle to the hospital. Along the way they had talked and found out what happened to Kai. By the time she was looked at, it was too late to drive back to campus. Nicolette offered her house for the night and they all went there. Too keyed up to sleep, they all talked all night and they had been friends ever since.

Later in the semester when Sineda, her sister, had come to the same school as her, Chailyn had worried about them clashing. Her friends and sister had gotten along from day one. Eventually when they met the rest of her family they had clicked too. Now they were part of their family too—sharing everything from birthdays, celebrations on achievements to breakups. Just as she could with most of her family she
could tell them anything.

Why don't you tell them about Mitchell and your concerns? Chailyn knew why. She wasn't ready to delve into how she was coming to feel for him. The last few weeks before they became intimate they had spent together going to the movies, out to some fabulous restaurants, museum, basketball game and numerous other places had been so special. Then when they did get intimate those moments…well she looked forward to it. Although not every night she’d gotten used to it.

And those times after the date that made her ache with wanting. Mitchell’s lips were lethal and he used them with the skill and precision sending her pulse thundering like a category three hurricane. His damn control drove her crazy. He would tempt her and sometimes take her then others not. He just kissed her into oblivion and left. Yes, she did her share of kissing and she peeked when he left and was pleased to see he wasn’t too steady on his feet. Some nights she wondered why he was leaving instead of staying. She wanted him with her every night. She didn't know what he was waiting for to do that. Maybe a neon sign saying "woman waiting to be taken insert here". Chailyn laughed as she imagined the look on his face if she did such a thing. Mitchell although had moments of devilry had a straight-laced attitude that tempted her to do something shocking just to see his reaction.

For a man who could kiss like sin he was uptight. Thoughts of his kiss before he left a week ago on business, to Geneva, had Chailyn smiling. He had acted like a starved man and she had thought he was going to take her on her desk. She had felt like jumping him and having her way with him she was so worked up. Just thinking about it Chailyn felt heat curl in her belly.

  "So, what did I miss?"

She jumped at the sound of Tariq’s booming voice as he came in. Looking up she saw the girls had moved to the couch facing her and were staring at her with a speculative look in their eyes. Oh. Oh.

Without looking at Tariq, Nicolette leaned forward then answered in a sultry alto while her green eyes twinkled. "Nothing..." she paused then nailed her with the look she used to make men quiver in the boardroom and give her what she wanted. "Except Chailyn was about to tell us about this wonderful man named Mitchell."

Nicolette nodded and the rest followed her. She reclined gracefully back into the chair in her lady of the manner pose she used with people who didn't know her. Rolling her eyes Chailyn said nothing.

"Come on Chailyn. Give you know we’ll find out anyway." Paige stated.

Looking at her Chailyn sighed. Paige had a patient look on her face. Chailyn knew from that alone Paige would hound her until she spilled the beans like the witnesses she cross examined on the witness stand to defend one of her clients. The doorbell rang.

Jumping up quickly Chailyn said. "I'll get it." She sent up a feverant thanks to Kai for being late as usual. She walked across the room quickly ignoring the sound of laughter and snickering behind her.

Reaching the door Chailyn threw it open as she said. "I could just kiss you all o-." she stuttered to a stop as she looked at Mitchell standing in the doorway. Her body started to throb.

He swept in and replied. "Don't let me stop you."

He pulled her into his hard body and kissed her. Yes. Her mind screamed as the throbbing turned into an inferno sweeping over her as she went up into flames falling into his kiss. Locking her hands behind his head she felt his groan slip into her as she touched his neck. His arms tightened around her.

“Why didn’t anyone tell me it was that sort of party? Now see I almost didn’t come.” A sultry female voice spoke close to them.

Chailyn pulled back from Mitchell and stifled a groan she had been caught by her of all people. The other of her guests who was coming today. She glanced toward the voice then sighed turning back and putting her head on Mitchell’s shoulder.

  “Why me?”

“You’re lucky.” Another female voice said.

“She’s about to get lucky.” Still another added.

“I want to watch.” An amused male voice said.

  “You would.” Another male laughed.

Chailyn wondered if they stood really still they would become invisible.

“No, you won’t become invisible if you stand really still.” A third male said drily.

She was gently turned and she looked up into his eyes.

“How’d you always seem to know what I am thinking Jarrod.” She smiled.

“I’m good like that,” Jarrod Evans smirked.

“So, he likes to think.” Zarek Brady shoved him aside. He studied Chailyn then looked behind her then said loudly. “Hey, I thought you were my girl.”

“You wish.” Hunter Bancroft elbowed him and winked. “She’s my girl.”

“No mine.” His brother Stone Bancroft smiled at her.

  “Yes.” She whispered.

  * * *

They all laughed. No one said no to Hunter and Stone. Women as well as men tended to throw themselves at them. Chailyn didn’t know if it was what they did for a living but looking at them she figured it wouldn’t matter. They had such a charisma about them. Just like Mitchell did. Something about him had captured her attention from the start and now she couldn’t figure out what. She glanced at Mitchell but he was looking beyond her.

“So, when do I get to kiss the greeter at the door?” A woman moved closer. “I’m liking this get together already.”

“Never, Storm.” Chailyn turned to look at her then rolled her eyes. “Only you would think we had a kisser door greeter.”

“Hey it could be a thing.” Storm Sloan Junior shrugged. “Make for some great parties.”

“SJ.” Essence Sloan, her cousin sighed. “We can’t take you anywhere.”

“We can here since folks here know she is crazy.” Bryce Sloan, their aunt, laughed. “In other places we would have to worry.”

“Even if you know her you would need to worry.” Shari Jamison who hadn’t spoke earlier added.

Khandi Creighton, who also hadn’t spoke earlier winked at Chailyn. “Nice.”

Chailyn shook her head and looked at the last woman who also hadn’t spoken yet. “Kai save me from these crazy people.”

Kai shook her head. “You’re on your own.”

  “Some friend you are.”

“We’re all your friends, so we’ll refrain from mentioning that kiss. A kiss where I feel I need to go get a cold shower.” Kyan Jamison, Shari’s nephew, smirked. “And I thought you were my girl. Now I see you stepping out on me. I see how it is.”

“Just go inside, before your craziness scares Mitchell off.”

The men looked at Mitchell then flexed. The women looked at the man and did the same. Chailyn glanced at Mitchell figuring he thought they were all weird. Mitchell laughed and stepped forward. She introduced him to everyone. She saw him pause when she reached Hunter and Jarrod but he didn’t mention anything. The group went into the house.

“Ummm…Chailyn.” Mitchell looked after them. “Isn’t that—"

“Yeah, Hunter is the current top artist on the R&B charts. Stone is the top artist on the rock one. And Jarrod is Shamar who used to be and is now an accomplished sought-after songwriter.”

“Yeah, them too.” Mitchell said absently. “I meant Kai. She’s a thriller writer. I heard she works sometimes with the FBI, local law enforcement and so on. She’s brilliant. I love her books.”

Chailyn smiled. “Be sure to tell her so. She’ll autograph one for you.”

Mitchell looked at her. She could almost see him wondering if he could run to his place and get one of Kai’s books and come back.

“Another day.” He smiled. “Sorry for dropping by unexpectedly. I didn’t know you had plans or company.”

The sound of laughter came and Mitchell looked through the open doorway. From where they stood he couldn’t see the living room. Chailyn knew with the arrival of the group that just came they would be heading to the backyard.

“Just a get together among friends and family.” Chailyn touched his arm. “Join us.”

“Oh no I couldn’t.” Mitchell smiled. “That would be intruding.”

The sound of vehicles arriving made her look toward the street. When she saw the multiple vehicles pull up she smiled then turned to him. The sound of the vehicles turning off and the door opening followed by voices reached her.

“I don’t know if you know but I have fifteen sisters with last name Kincaid.”

  Mitchell looked stunned. “Fifteen.”

Chailyn patted his hand. “Come in and I’ll tell you how.”

  “I can’t intrude.”

“Please, it’s a tribe of us so one more we won’t even notice.” Cynda Kincaid spoke then looked between Chailyn and Mitchell.

Chailyn could see her wondering who he was and she rethought if she should invite him. Her sisters as well as those coming today would all be nosy and not hide it.

“Come keep me company. I’m shy and don’t like people much even if they are family and friends.” Cynda grabbed Mitchell’s arm.

He looked at her and the awestruck look on his face made Chailyn stifle a smile.

  “You’re Cyn.” Mitchell said.

“Yeah.” She looked at him. “And you are.”

  “Mitchell.”

“Ahh…the architect who pisses Chailyn off.” Cyn looked at Chailyn. “Seems something changed there.”

Mitchell looked at her and it was heated. “Yeah she pisses me off too.” He focused on Cynda. “I love your work. You work in so many mediums. I have a small painting of yours.” He smiled.

“Why small?” Cynda led him inside.

“I wanted the large one but was outbid.”

  “Which one?”

  “Vulnerable.”

  “Ahhh…a good one.”

Mitchell walked into the house with Cynda and didn’t look back for her. Chailyn smiled. She was used to it. Many of her sisters and friends were well known and people flocked to them.

  “Come on.” Another sister said.

She went in with them. The rest fell into step behind her. She noted they had started toward the backyard. She went that way and looked and saw Mitchell with Kai and Cynda and a few others. He looked at her winked and went back to his conversation. Chailyn left him there and went to get the stuff for the barbeque.
