Chailyn hadn’t know that. She watched the woman staring at her from the screen. Sasha looked cute even with bed head.
“So, does this mean the job offer is no longer on the table?” Sasha watched her haughtily.
“No. Since obviously you didn’t do this then it is still on the table.” Chailyn paused. “Would you still want to work for us?”
“I’m still thinking over your offer.” Sasha smiled. “And Mitchell and Nicolas.”
Mitchell sighed. “That’s why you didn’t answer us yet about becoming a full partner.”
“Yep. Not every day a woman gets asked to be partner in two firms like yours and Chailyn’s. I’m weighing my options.”
“You offered her partner.” Mitchell looked shocked.
“Yes.” She looked at him. “Did our research on her and she is what we have been looking for to add to our firm.” Chailyn inclined her head. “Although we started off on a shaky start I could work around that. I’m glad it didn’t end up being you. That pissed me off that I could misjudge you that way.”
“I bet.” Sasha frowned. “Now I’m curious on why my name came up.”
“It—" Bryce filled her in then finished with. “But seeing you I know now it wasn’t you. The description given doesn’t match what the man told me. Do you all know a blond, blue-eyed woman with a tattoo of a rose.”
“No.” Mitchell said.
“Yes.” Sasha replied. “Mitchell wouldn’t know about the tattoo it’s well in a place that unless he slept with her or close friends he wouldn’t see it. It’s Vicky my assistant.” Sasha frowned. “Why the hell would she do this?”
“We’re about to find out.” Mitchell scowled. “I’ll fill you in later and you’ll need to find a new assistant.”
“Let me know.” Sasha signed off.
Chailyn looked at Mitchell.
“I’m sorry, Chailyn.”
“It wasn’t your fault.”
“It’s someone from my company doing something so underhanded.”
“And that is not on you.” Chailyn touched his arm. “It’s on them.”
“Let’s go see why they did this?” Bryce said. “Then you all can figure out what you want to do. “
They nodded and followed Bryce out. Mitchell took the lead and went toward Sasha’s office. The stiffness of his posture made Chailyn very aware he was pissed.

Hours later, Chailyn stared out the window and wondered what Mitchell was doing. After they had found out why Vicky did it—she thought she was helping out the company and she was obsessed with Nicolas. When she started ranting about him Bryce had called in the police. Chailyn had left and went back to her office to fill in Tariq and get some work done. Sometime later Bryce had called and told her they had found some disturbing things at Vicky’s. She couldn’t tell her what but the woman was going to jail or a mental hospital.
When she had called Mitchell, he had said he was with Nicolas as they tried to lessen the impact about Vicky. Word had gotten out about her manipulating bids and they were not sure if Chailyn’s company was the only one affected. This could mess with Mitchell’s company reputation. Chailyn knew how important that was to any business. She’d also been fielding calls from others in their field. She hadn’t said much but made it clear that Structural was reputable and don’t let one person’s bad behavior define or undo all they had done. Finally, at the end of the day she came home then got something to eat before getting ready for bed. She’d come back downstairs for a bottle of water which she had in her hand but she hadn’t head back upstairs yet.
The doorbell rang and she went toward the door. She peeked through the peephole, seeing Mitchell opened it. He looked tired. Chailyn pulled him inside and she turned off the lights. She led him upstairs. He followed not saying a word.
When they arrived in her bedroom she led him to bed. Chailyn quickly undressed him and urged him into bed. Mitchell dropped down and lay back. Chailyn slid in beside him and snuggled into his side.
“We hired a PR firm to guide us in what to do.” Mitchell sighed. “It’s gonna be difficult to get business and retain the contracts we have if we don’t get in front of this.”
“Rest.” She urged. “You can worry about this tomorrow.”
“I heard from some people who said when they spoke with you, you said we were reputable.” Mitchell hugged her. “Thank you.”
“You have me and my firm’s support.” Chailyn said. “We might be competitors but your reputation is one we respect.”
“Is this because you are my girlfriend?”
“No.” She glared. “This is just business.”
Mitchell smiled. “But you are my girlfriend. We’re not just you know.”
“Of course.” She smiled and kissed him gently. “We haven’t you know for weeks.”
“Good.” He snuggled into her.
Chailyn held him as he went to sleep.
Three days later Chailyn watched from the sidelines as the press waited for Mitchell and Nicolas to hold their press conference. Structural had many government contracts and with that scrutiny and their international projects there was a lot of attention. Her firm had government contracts too and their first international that they had just heard about yesterday.
“What do you think they will say?” Tariq who stood beside her asked.
“Mitchell didn’t tell me.” She shrugged. “Figure he will own up to what happened. Then assure about the reputation of his company.”
Mitchell and Nicolas came out of the building and stood at the podium that was set up in front of Structural. The backdrop was a powerful one since the building was a testament to their talent. Mitchell spoke first and said what she figured he would. Then Nicolas spoke too. The two men presented a united front. When the questions started flying they answered them with calm and professionalism. Even through some of the questions were out of line and questioned their previous projects, new ones and future ethical behavior. Chailyn looked around and saw the crowd was enjoying way too much the salacious questions. She noted the vehicle turning into the parking behind the crowd then it parked and the doors opened. She was startled to see the man exiting. He strode forward with a confidence of someone who was used to being obeyed. Unerringly he met her gaze then came toward where she stood close to the front of the stage.
“Come.” He said the one word as he passed.
She and Tariq followed. He walked forward and the reporters went silent. He put out his hand and first Mitchell then Nicolas shook it. He then turned to the podium and faced the reporters. They were in stunned silence because he usually didn’t talk to the media.
“I’ve seen the reports the last few days that have questioned Structural’s reputation and the ethics of them.” He stared down at the media. “And some of the questions here today. I don’t do business with someone who doesn’t have both.” He paused.
Chailyn hoped he didn’t take Structural off his project and just give it to her firm. Yes, they had wanted the project but not this way.
“There has been some rumors and a leak about my new project.” He lifted an eyebrow. “None of which I confirmed. Not until today. I’m here to confirm that Structural and CT Design Group in conjunction will be working on my new building that will be my permanent base of operation here in Rowan. We have chosen Rowan as the base for Hayes Enterprises.” He looked at the reporters. “And my reputation stands as does those I work with. That is all. Press conference over. No questions.”
The reporters started shouting questions. Driscoll Hayes ignored them and walked away toward the door of Structural. Chailyn with Mitchell by her side fell into step behind him. Tariq and Nicolas came behind them.
“Did you know he would be here?” She whispered to him.
“No.” Mitchell frowned. “I tried calling but he didn’t answer or return it.”
“I called too and same thing.”
They went inside and Driscoll lead the way down the hall then to the elevato
rs. They went in when it arrived. They didn’t speak since details of the project was still hush hush. When they arrived on Mitchell and Nicolas’s floor they went to the conference room they usually used. Driscoll took a seat. They stood and waited. He straightened his cuffs the unbuttoned it.
“I hate suits.” He looked at them. “You made me have to put on a power suit.”
They all laughed. He was known for hating them.
He smiled. “Now that is out of the way. Fill me in on where we are at with the project.”
“Driscoll.” Mitchell said. “Thank you, w—"
“No need for that.” Driscoll waved his hand. “We’ve done a few projects together and if I had seen the bid—correct one—from CT Design Group they would have won my business this time. But I didn’t and you did. In the end it worked out since I got you both. And what you all have come up with together is better than either of you would have alone. So, it’s a win, win for me. Now let’s get to it.”
They took that as their queue and gave an impromptu presentation to Driscoll.
* * *
Later Chailyn returned to Structural at the end of her day. After the presentation to Driscoll they had went back to their respective offices to work. She swung the bag from Dupree she held. She knew Mitchell, although Driscoll throwing his own reputation behind Structural, would be working to make sure there were no more surprises and their current bids were tight. That meant he wouldn’t even be thinking of food. When she had passed the guard downstairs he had let her come up since he knew her. She noted when she arrived on this floor the offices from the elevator and Mitchell’s were empty. Nicolas’s office which was at the other end of hall had a light coming from under the door but it was closed. She stopped before Mitchell’s which was also closed and opened it. She stepped in then closed it behind her. Mitchell looked up and he again had no jacket on and his sleeves rolled up.
“Hey.” She held up the bag. “I brought dinner.”
He looked startled then a warm smile spread on his face. “Come here.”
She went toward him and around the desk. Chailyn stopped before him and looked down at him. He studied her.
“I planned it all romantic for another time but I can’t wait.” Mitchell slid back his chair and pulled her to sit on his lap then he looked into her eyes. “I love you, Chailyn.”
Her breath caught. “Mi—"
“Let me finish.” Mitchell cupped her cheek. “Everything from the start about you made me…well lose all sense. I don’t want to be without you.” He stared at her. “I want us to be together forever. For that I will do the romance and not asking yet.” He stared at her. “But I will once I figure out how to make it memorable.”
She breathed out. “I love you too.” She kissed him softly. “And you also had me off kilter. My competitor who made me want him.” She laughed. “I was cursing your name for that but still wanted you for mine.”
“I’m yours.” Mitchell kissed her. “If we weren’t in my office I’d show you how much.”
“Show me.” She nipped his bottom lip. “Get out of your straight-laced way and let the devilish part of you out.”
Mitchell’s eyes flashed and a smile curled his lips. It made her body heat. She rose and lifted her skirt. Mitchell put his hand on her thigh and pulled her panties. He held her and kissed her upper thigh. She widened her legs and moaned. Mitchell reached for his pants. She pushed his hands away and opened them and pulled his erection out. Chailyn stroked her hands along his hot flesh. She dug into his pocket knowing he kept something there. She pulled out the protection and put it on him. She moved over him straddling him. He held his erection and she guided it into her. Chailyn moaned as she sank onto him.
Mitchell opened her blouse and nuzzled at her breast. She unbuttoned his shirt and dug her nails into his chest. She moved with him and moaned as he filled her. Mitchell groaned against her chest. She moved faster and the pleasure rose quickly.
“Mitchell.”

He kissed her taking in the words from her lips. She whimpered and he enjoyed the sound. This woman was his. She caught his attention from the start and he knew she would for a long time. He grabbed her ass and moved her with him. He rocked as he came and she joined him. Chailyn moaned and tightened around him. She kissed him then pulled back staring into his eyes.
“Next time the desk.”
He laughed. “Which one. Yours or mine.”
“No need to choose. We have to see which one is best.” She smiled a sly grin. “For our business we have to do on it.”
He chuckled and kissed her. She was right they didn’t have to choose. They were competitors brought together for a project but in the end, they found more than that. This was just business after all. Theirs.

What is it with planes that make people think of sex? I ponder this as I slide a finger under the hem of my dress. A flash of warm pleasure makes my leg jitter as the plane hits an air pocket, and my hand slips higher.
It must be all that turbulence, the up, down, side-to-side rocking passengers into a weird comforting movement. I’ve never been one to join the Mile High Club. Never really had a chance to consider it. I am by no means a good girl. Just never traveled with a partner with whom I’d risk breaking the rules.
The plane shudders again, and I close my eyes when the tip of my finger hits the edge of my lace panties, and I take a deep breath in. Sweet coconut hits my nostrils and a shudder escapes my lips.
Who am I kidding? It’s not the plane that’s making me horny—and faux brave—it’s this guy beside me. I spotted him out in the terminal. He stood out with his laissez-faire swagger, hair down to his shoulders and a well-groomed beard. I was slightly perturbed when he sat next to me; his effect on my libido is something new and bordering on uncomfortable. He smells like sex on a beach—palm trees, sand, waves and all. Gah, I need to get laid. I open my eyes and I see his curious gaze on me. My cheeks heat up right away, and I look down to avoid his eyes, but I don’t move my hand out of my dress.
