Seduction in a Suit: An Office Romance Collection Page 56

by Monica Corwin

“Love you,” I said sweetly. He gave me a smile in response before saying his goodbyes to my parents and leaving the room. I grinned to myself, I was lucky and I knew it.

“Ma’am,” came a voice from behind me. I sharply turned to come face to face with Evan. It was nice to see him up close. Though up close he was much more enticing with a perfect, strong jawline, five o’clock shadow, chocolate brown hair, and strong blue eyes that nearly knocked me off my feet.

I shook away the immediate feeling of lust; I had a boyfriend I was dedicated to.

“Evan, right?” I batted my eyelashes innocently.

“Yes ma’am,” he kept his stance professional.

“You can call me Kaitlyn, I don’t mind,” I informed him. “So, I guess you’re who I’d talk to about my guest room that’s been taken hostage?”

“Ma’am,” he began until I stared him down. “Kaitlyn, we need that room to use as our onsite command room as you are the only member of the family that does not reside at the White House.”

I loved his accent. I knew instantly he was from Boston. I had to forcefully stop myself from chewing on my lip.

“Wait, so people are going to be in my house all the time?” I questioned feeling instantly inconvenienced. I’d lived alone since graduating college, and I appreciated my privacy. I let out a very audible groan.

I didn’t sign up to have my house invaded by strange men. Growing up I’d spent time under the microscope, but nothing had been like my last two years when my mom was running. I knew for her entire time in office, I’d be placed under intense scrutiny, but at the same time I wanted to continue to live my twenty-five-year-old life without too much interference.

“I’m sorry, but it is for your safety. You will have someone in your home and member of your detail with you at all times. I’m your mainline, but there are other members of the detail you will be introduced to who will also be around,” I rolled my eyes.

“Well, I better enjoy prison for the next eight years,” I spat walking away from him and toward my parents. I wanted to fast forward through my mother’s presidency. I wanted my life to be mine and not belong to the country, but now that was out of my hands.

Everything around the room glittered and so did my gold sequin cowl-back ball gown that hugged my every curve. I wasn’t a super skinny girl, I had curves for days, and I loved to show them off, especially to Michael.

I walked down the staircase of the grand ballroom down to Michael, who waited patiently for me in his crisp black tux. Cameras flashed all around as I reached him, his large, strong hands slipping around my hips, pulling me close. He planted a delicate kiss on my lips before turning to watch as my parents made their way to the top of the staircase.

“Introducing, the President of the United States, Tracy Marshall,” the announcer cheered as the room erupted in applause. My mother glowed in her red gown as she and my dad descended the staircase together.

The two of them came to a stop in the middle of the dance floor that boasted the Presidential seal. It was perfection and as the celebrity guest began to sing, my parents began to dance. I smiled as I watched them, the first couple of the country, and the people who raised me to be the woman I was.

I glanced around the room at the guests, from politicians to celebrities, it was a glittering event and the first of many. In a corner, I spotted the man I’d seen a few times throughout the day, Evan. His eyes were on me for a moment before they diverted and he spoke to the agent next to him. My heart pounded at the sight of him.

When the song finished, the full band began to play another song and my parents were joined on the dance floor by other couples. Michael took me by the hand and began to pull me to the dance floor. I allowed him to loop one arm around my waist while his other hand took mine.

The big band song played as Michael twirled me around. I giggled girlishlyas he pulled me against his body moving along. His hand traveled down over my ass again, and he gripped me tight.

“Mmm Katy. I love you girl,” Michael mumbled in my ear. I bit my lip, I loved him too so much.

Michael’s hands moved from me as he pulled something from his pocket and dropped to his knee. My eyes went wide as my hands flew to my mouth, I heard gasps erupt from around the room as I glanced down at the man who had owned my heart from our first date.

“Kaitlyn, I love you so much, and from the moment I laid eyes on you two years ago, I knew we belonged together. I know today is your mom’s day, but I want it to also be your day. I’m asking you, be my wife. Will you marry me Kaitlyn Marshall?” Michael looked up at me with all the love I saw in him from day one.

“Yes, Michael. Yes, you know I will!” I screamed happily as he slipped a large diamond on my finger.

He stood and pulled me close, kissing me like he’d never kissed me before. The years ahead of me were definitely looking up.

As guests approached us to give their congratulations, I saw someone on the other side of the room watching. There was no mistaking the blue eyes of Evan on me, bringing heat to my core. Newly engaged, and the only thought on my mind was wondering what exactly Evan wanted to do to me. I needed a drink.

  2

  Evan

Damn, all the things I wanted to do to her. Her brown eyes were directly on me as various guests—and her parents—approached her to congratulate her on her engagement. I’d seen her in person for the first time just a few weeks prior, right after I got my assignment.

I wasn’t going to lie, I was still angry about the assignment I’d been given. I’d worked my way up the ranks, and after spending four years on the detail of the former Vice President, I had even become the head of his detail in the last six months of his tenure, I knew I’d make it onto Tracy Marshall’s detail.

Three weeks ago, however, I was given my official assignment, I’d be the head of the detail for Tracy’s oldest daughter, Kaitlyn. I remembered going to her swanky townhouse for the first time. She was the only member of the family not residing at the White House, and therefore I had to secure the place and get the beginnings of a command center started in her home.

Kaitlyn would come and go while I worked, never really a chance to introduce myself to the beauty. Though early on I had learned of her boyfriend, the young congressman from California, Kaitlyn’s home state. He’d now just become her fiancé and though it shouldn’t bother me, it did. I didn’t like the guy, but nobody gave a fuck if I liked him or not, wasn’t my business.

I broke my eye contact with Kaitlyn and turned to my friend next to me. I was grateful I got to have my best friend on my team. Colin Brown stood next to me with his eyes on the crowd, he was my number two.

“Look at Finch over there, looking bored as fuck,” Colin snickered as he motioned to our colleague Aaron Finch, head of Kandace Marshall’s detail. “I know you are bummed about not getting the President, but at least you aren’t fucking stuck with a teen. He’s got to attend sleepovers, painting nails and shit.”

“Yeah, we did dodge a bullet,” I commented as my eyes flickered back to Kaitlyn. There was a smile on her face as she sipped champagne and showed off the huge rock I could see all the way from my position.

“Dude is getting fucking laid tonight! Do you see that rock?” Colin mentioned as he tapped me on the shoulder. “I wouldn’t mind getting a piece of that, chicks got a nice round ass on her too. Love me some black girl ass.” He made a motion with his hands, pretending to survey the back of the room, but I knew he was just hiding it from the crowd.

“Can you not?” I scoffed at Colin. “We’re working, be fucking professional. Codes of Conduct, Col.”

“Yeah, okay Mr. Rules,” Colin mocked. I was known to be strictly by the book. I didn’t get to where I was in my career without being strict about what was in the rulebook, and everyone around me knew it.

My eyes stayed glued to Kaitlyn. She’d began to move across the room to the bar. Her gold gown hugged her curves to perfection, round ass and all.

; Kaitlyn had curves for days upon days, she gave Beyoncé, Kim Kardashian, and any other of those girls a run for their money. She had confidence like no other. When introduced to her, I’d learned of her sassy side, she’d be a challenge to work with, but I’d assumed I could survive.

I’d been to some star-studded events during my time with the Secret Service. and this one landed as one of the top. Everywhere you looked there were celebrities and top-notch politicians. This was only the first ball of the night, there were three more to attend.

The night was going to be a long one with all the parties. I’d be happy when everything settled down into a steady motion. At least with Kaitlyn, I wouldn’t be jet setting all over the world at a moment’s notice as I had with the Vice President Life would slow down a bit and not be so hectic.

Snapping myself away from my daydream, I scanned the room as I’d lost Kaitlyn’s position. I spotted her back at Michael’s side, now with a cocktail in hand. The happy couple was standing with her boss, Maryland Junior Senator Trish Villetti, along with a few others. Kaitlyn threw her head back in laughter before taking a sip of her cocktail.

Her fingers twirled in her long brown hair. I’d seen her doing it periodically through the day, especially when she was bored. She shifted on her feet, it was apparent they were bothering her as she’d done a lot of standing all day— and in heels. Women were insane for wearing those things.

Kaitlyn leaned over to Michael and whispered something in his ear, he gave a quick nod before she began toward one of the many entrances in the ballroom. I took my cue and began toward the same entrance, my job was to keep her safe at all times and to do that, I needed to be where she was.

She disappeared into the hall. I upped my speed before entering the hall. I spotted her immediately, her round behind swaying as she walked. My eyes observed her from behind, head to toe, she was a dazzling goddess.

Breaking into a jog, I worked through the crowd to catch up with her. I walked close behind, checking out the other party guests as I went. I was trained to spot a threat before it became a threat. Most of the guests were already tipsy and celebrating as they should be.

Kaitlyn turned for a moment and spotted me right behind her, her eyes studied me before she rolled them.

“Why are you following me?” she spat.

“I’m doing my job, ma’am,” I answered her truthfully.

  “Kaitlyn,” she demanded.

“Kaitlyn…” Fuck, it sounded amazing, her name rolling off my tongue. “I’m doing my job. Keeping you safe. I need to make sure myself, or one of my colleagues, know of your whereabouts at all times.”

“I’m just going pee. Can I go pee?” Her hands were on her hips and her attitude was on full display. She was sharp. I let out a frustrated sigh. She wasn’t going to make my life easy. She was incredibly independent, and I knew having someone following your every move was counterproductive in her sights.

“You can go pee. I just have to clear the restroom,” I noted.

“You’ve got to be kidding me?” she scoffed with another eye roll. I was going to have to get used to those eye rolls.

“I’m not,” I didn’t want to lose my patience with her because she wasn’t used to any of this. She’d grown up with relatively light security, but being the daughter of the President was an entirely different ballgame. “Brown, I’m doing a restroom check,” I said into my ear piece.

Kaitlyn leaned against the wall, her arms crossed impatiently over her chest. She let out an exasperated sigh as I passed her and stepped into the lady’s room, I hated this part of the job.

“Excuse me, secret service. If anyone is in here I need you to finish up so I can continue with a security check,” I announced.

In moments, there were toilets flushing and women in their glamorous gowns rushing from the stalls quickly washing their hands. I gave them all nods of thanks as they left the restroom behind.

After checking every stall, I strolled outside to find Kaitlyn exactly where I had left her. She wasn’t pleased, but I had a job to do and no matter how much attitude she gave me, I was going to complete my given tasks and keep her safe.

“No monsters hiding in the bathroom?” she glared at me, the sarcasm heavy in her voice.

“No monsters. You are free to go in,” There were those eyes of hers, rolling again, I held back a laugh as she passed me and entered the restroom.

I observed the crowd as I awaited Kaitlyn’s return. I spotted Colin emerge from the ballroom, he gave me a nod as he checked my status, I nodded back before he went back into the ballroom.

“I’m done,” came Kaitlyn’s voice as she returned to my side. “Do I have permission to return to the party?” Her tone was ice cold. I didn’t want to make her life harder or uncomfortable, and I was getting that vibe from her.

“You can do whatever you want, as long as I can secure your safety,” I noted to the beauty, she shrugged before walking away.

After three more balls, I was exhausted and couldn’t wait to get some sleep. I had one more job for the night; escort Kaitlyn home, where I had a small team of agents waiting.

I tried to hold back a yawn as I spotted Kaitlyn and Michael exit the building with Colin not far behind them. Kaitlyn was obviously intoxicated by the way she tripped over her heels every few steps. I shook my head as I opened the door of the black Escalade.

Kaitlyn giggled as she climbed inside with Michael right behind her. I closed the door before rounding the car and getting in the driver’s seat. Colin gave me a wave before I was off with our police escort.

I peered in the rearview mirror every few moments to see Kaitlyn kissing Michael and his hand up her dress. I took a breath as something I could only recognize as a slight tinge of jealousy began to course through my system.

Something didn’t rub me right about him. Kaitlyn was head over heels in love with him, but I didn’t see the same from him. I didn’t even need to know him to know he seemed like an opportunist, and fucking the president’s daughter gave the biggest opportunities possible.

“Where… are we… going?” Kaitlyn drunkenly slurred as she came up for air.

“I’m taking you home, Ms. Marshall,” I answered her plainly. The day and night had been long, and I ached to be in my bed after such a tiring day.

“No, we’re going to Michael’s,” she demanded.

“Our itinerary is to your home ma’am,” I was firm with her as I peered back at the woman who angrily stared back at me. She was gorgeous when she was angry.

“Fuck the itinerary, I want to go to Michael’s house,” she hissed.

I didn’t have a team of agents placed at Michael’s house, only at her house. Michael’s house had been approved, but none of the surveillance was installed because he was making it difficult to have done.

“Control, this is Stewards and Heart. I’m rerouting from Heart’s residence to the Ford residence. Will stay on sight until shift arrives,” I redirected into my ear piece before turning the car around the next corner in order to change route and head into Maryland where Michael’s house was located.

Heart was Kaitlyn’s code name. The first family had gone with the letter ‘H’, and Kaitlyn was elected Heart.

I glanced in the mirror, she was back to kissing on her beloved fiancé. I let a frustrated sigh release, she deserved better.

My ass was beat and relieved when I saw reinforcements drive up to Michael’s elaborate Maryland home. I’d waited an hour for them. That hour was spent standing in Michael’s downstairs listening to the sounds of him pleasuring Kaitlyn, who wasn’t a quiet one. Her sensual, enticing moans and screams filled the halls. More times than once I had had to remind my body to calm down, but my dick got harder with each pleasured moan.

“You look like shit, Stewards,” my backup agent, Mark Yates, said as she approached me.

“You have no idea. Subject is upstairs with Mr. Ford. I suspect she will be spending the night. I’m taking myself home,” I yawned at Mark.

“Get some rest Stewards. You’ve got one helluva four years ahead,” Mark joked with a pat on my back. He had no idea.

Kaitlyn was a spitfire, and I couldn’t help my attraction to her. Everything about her made me want her. From her beautiful smile, to her curvy figure. I’d have to be stronger than ever to make it through.

I gave Mark a wave as I stepped outside.

The cold January air nipped at my skin. I’d lived in the DC area all my life and winter still didn’t agreed with me. Spring, though, was just around the corner, and I was counting the days.

I jogged the rest of the way to the black SUV parked in front of the two-story brick home. My fingers snatched the keys from my pocket and I jumped into the vehicle, making quick work of starting up the engine, and turning the heat on high.

No matter how hard I tried, Kaitlyn was on my mind. I turned up the radio for the melodic sounds of the music to drive the thoughts of her away, but they only grew stronger with the seductive R&B tunes. I grabbed the steering wheel hard and squeezed in an effort to squeeze Kaitlyn from my mind.

Through my time with the secret service, I’d met all kinds of women. Many of those women were just as alluring, but none of them distracted me the way Kaitlyn did. I had to do my job, I had to keep her at a safe distance, as well as keep her safe. I’d read the codes of conduct through time and time again. I knew all I wanted to do to her was well against the rules. I was effectively cock-blocked.

The ride into Virginia wasn’t terribly long in the dark of the night, on deserted roads. Passing my mailbox at the end of the lane, I drove the quarter mile to the house that set secluded in a cleared area of dense forest. It was the place I called home. The cottage style house was my pride. I’d put everything into that house.
