Falling for the Devil: Book 1 of the Gods & Monsters Trilogy Page 17

by Isadora Brown

Amber and Sean got out of the carriage only to see Harleen, though in Andrew’s lap, leap into his arms and plant a kiss on his lips.

Andrew didn’t need to be told twice; he wrapped his arms around Harleen’s waist and lingered by her lips as she started kissing him all over his face. Amber and Sean shared a look, and though they didn’t know just how close to death Harleen had come to, the scene, the moment itself was touching.

“I love you too,” she murmured against his lips before letting a content sigh slip out of her nose. “And I want nothing more than to stay with you here for as long as you’ll let me.” She bit her lip, hesitating, before returning her eyes into his. “I don’t want to leave you.”

“I’d like to see you try and leave,” Andrew teased, but upon hearing her words, there couldn’t be a man happier than he was at that very moment. He wasn’t exactly sure what undid the spell that had been on her. Maybe she was only unconscious and the Hunters were just trying to scare him, believing that they would win over Andrew. To be honest, he didn’t particularly care. He was just glad that Harleen was alive and that she wanted to stay with him. “But.” He gripped her face gently with his fingers, making sure that he had her attention, that their eyes were locked. “If you want to leave, if you want to go back up to earth, I’d understand. I would let you go too, if it was what you wanted.”

Harleen immediately placed her finger over his lips, silencing him from speaking anymore. “Don’t be silly,” she told him in a firm voice. “Wherever you are, that’s where I want to be. Don’t think of trying to get rid of me now that you have me, buddy.”

Andrew grinned. “I wouldn’t even consider it,” he whispered before pulling her into another deep kiss. She was okay. She was really okay.

Amber felt the tears slip down her face as she watched the scene unfold before her. She had always been a closeted romantic, and such scenes as this one always made her tear up. More than that, they taught her to hope. Luckily, she didn’t have to hope anymore because she met a man so worthy of her attention, devoted to her. The reaction she had was one of understanding and compassion; she knew how much Harleen cared about Andrew, and was more than happy for her friend.

Sean was also not immune to the scene before him. Tears slipped out of his eyes, and he couldn’t help a small “Thank you” from slipping past his lips.

“Oh, get a room, you two,” he said with a smile, but Andrew and Harleen didn’t appear to hear them, or even notice that they were there.

Currently, there was only one thing most important to them at that moment, and that was the person in their arms. Luckily for both of them, they would have each other for the rest of time. Yes, they would fight and yell and frustrate each other, but it was certain that they would make up.

Happiness encompassed the two as the world around them disappeared until it was just the two of them.
