Broken (The Onyx Wolves Book 2) Page 7

by Raven K. Asher

Our eyes lock onto one another’s for a few moments before he leans in to press his lips against mine.

At first it starts out slowly but his lips become more demanding as his hands grab my hips.

He pulls me close as his tongue pushes my lips to open for him.

I get swept away in him as our tongues tangle and his hands skim the bare skin just under my shirt.

I’m left panting for my next breath as he moves away to sit back in his seat triumphantly.

I close my eyes and compose myself before moving to sit back down with the others.

“That made even me hot.” Matt jokes.

“Damn, can I get a dare like that?” Lake questions with his own laugh.

Under the table I grab onto London’s leg and dig my claws in deep. I was more than pissed off at him for that little stunt.

Glancing across the table my eyes meet Blue’s.

He was wearing a look of disgust as he takes a long drink of his beer.

“Your turn again, wolf.” Blue grunts.

“I’ll take truth this time.” I reply quietly.

Call me chicken, but I wasn’t ready for another dare.

He nods. “Okay, tell me about this mate that died in front of you. Did you get him killed?”

I look to London for help as tears rapidly fill my eyes.

“That was too far.” London grunts. “She didn’t get him killed. It was my fault that he died. She tried to save him.”

Tears fall from my eyes as I turn to look at Blue.

I wanted him to see the pain that I felt.

“You look so much like him.” I whisper out my truth. “You look so much like him and it hurts me every time I look at you.”

With that confession I stand up and run into the bathroom.

“Dude, that was too far.” Matt grunts as I slam the door.

“Yeah, man, wolf or not you made her cry.” Lake agrees.

Blue curses. “What the hell do I do now, how do I fix it?”

“Apologize first, then give her this, and then stop being such a dick to her.” London replies.

Moving around the bathroom I look for a place to hide.

I end up in the tub with the curtain hiding me as footsteps near the door.

A second later the door opens and then closes.

The footsteps move closer until they stop.

I peek out to watch as Blue sighs roughly, and then as he brushes his hand through his hair while sitting down on the toilet seat.

“I’m not good at this, wolf.” He begins.

“Her name is Parker.” London yells.

Blue chuckles softly as he shakes his head. “I swear he’s out to get me.”

  I remain silent.

Suddenly his hand pushes the curtain aside as he hands over a fresh bottle of vodka.

I take it from him reluctantly as I dry the tears running down my cheeks.

“Do I really look like him?” Blue asks.

  I nod. “You do.”

“Damn, that must suck.” He sighs.

“It’s not so bad.” I reply honestly.

He smiles at me sadly. “I’m sorry that I brought up that pain. I let myself get a bit carried away.” He apologizes.

“Just don’t ask me about him anymore until I’m ready to talk about him.” I reply.

Blue nods. “You won’t hear another peep out of me.”

I grin sadly and open my bottle before taking a long drink.

As I swallow the liquid I hand the bottle to Blue who takes his own long drink.

He chokes slightly as he pulls the bottle away from his lips. “I don’t know how you can drink that stuff like its water.”

  I laugh. “It’s a wolf thing.”

He nods and chuckles as he stands to his feet and holds out his hand to me. “Come back out and play a few more games with us.”

I sigh softly before taking his hand in mine to allow him to pull me to my feet.

Tripping over my own two feet I fall forward into his arms.

Our faces were mere inches apart.

In a daze I lean up and press my lips against his.

His eyes widen for a moment before his hands grab hold of my hips and he lifts me out of the tub before sitting me on the sink.

I moan softly as his tongue pushes against my lips begging for me to open for him.

Pulling back slightly Blue looks deep into my eyes while his thumb trails over my bottom lip. “I’m not him. I will never be him.”

  I nod. “I know.”

“And you know that this can never really be, right?” He asks as he motions between us. “After this we need to keep our distance. I’m a Hunter and you’re a wolf. It’s against all of our laws.”

I nod and close my eyes.

“Right now though, I want every bit of you that I can get.” He then grunts as his lips crash into mine.

I was more than willing to give him everything in that moment.

To hell with the laws that kept us apart.

I would find a way around them in order to break this tragic cycle I was stuck in.

Suddenly London bangs on the door interrupting us. “Parker, I need to talk to you.”

  “Can’t it wait?” I reply.

“No, it’s important. It’s a message from Titus.” He replies.

I curse. “Damn it. I have to find out what it is.”

  Blue nods and steps back.

I watch as a wall slams down in his eyes ending anything that we would have done.

  Our moment was over.

Fixing my shirt and hair I quickly open the door and shut it behind me.

London grabs my arms pulling me through the room and out the main door before running his hands through his hair.

“What was Titus’s message?” I ask.

London turns to me. “Please, tell me you didn’t do anything in the bathroom with him.”

“Why, what does that matter?” I push.

“If you did then I really messed this up for you.” London replies frantically.

Grabbing his face in my hands I bring his eyes to look into mine. “I didn’t do anything other than kiss him.”

He sighs out in relief. “Thank god. Titus told me that you can’t do anything like that until you get him to fall in love with you. If he is in love with you it will make your bond stronger but if he isn’t it will have the opposite effect.”

I curse and turn my back to London as I tug at my hair. “That’s going to be easier said than done now considering Blue ended things with me in there.”

I turn back around to face London. “I saw the wall slam down in his eyes.”

This time London curses. “I screwed this all up again. I’m so sorry, Sweetheart.”

“You didn’t screw this up. We had no idea.” I reassure him. “This just means we will have to up our game a bit. He has feelings for me we just have to dig for them.”

London nods. “We can do that.”

I nod. “Yes, we can, but right now let’s just enjoy the rest of our night playing drinking games.”

Tugging on London’s arm I lead him back into our room.

We sit down at the table and London quickly drinks down a bottle of whiskey.

“What game should we play now?” Matt questions.

“I’d be up for a game of strip poker?” London blurts.

Matt raises his beer. “I’m up for that.”

  Lake nods his agreement.

“I’m in.” I agree and then look for Blue’s reply.

He watches me for a moment before giving in. “I’m in but we need some more girls in here if we’re going to play.”

  Damn it.

Matt jumps up excited. “I have the perfect girls for us.”

He then rushes from the room.

“He’s going to bring back that redhead, I bet you.” Lake snorts.

Blue nods in agreement. “I hope he brings back the blonde from earlier. I can’t resist a blonde.”

My heart sinks as I glance over to London.

This game was going to suck.

  10-Giving Up

The next morning I groan and hide my eyes as light shines in through the only window in our room.

I wake up more when I hear a soft moan come from the other side of the room.

Beside me London’s eyes fly open.

“What the hell happened last night?” I whisper for only our ears to hear.

He shakes his head slightly. “I honestly have no idea.”

He then sticks his nose under the blankets covering us before going wide-eyed.

“What, what is it?” I push.

“We had sex.” He replies truthfully.

  “What?” I nearly screech out.

This was so not how I had expected the night to go. Sex with London had been the farthest thing from my mind.

Needing to know for sure I push my nose under the blankets and take a deep sniff.

Sure enough our smells mixed together in a smell that was unique to sex.

“Damn it, what the hell happened?” I whisper.

The moans from the other side of the room grow a little louder and I cringe. “Who is that?”

London moves to look over my shoulder and curses. “You don’t want to know, Sweetheart, you don’t want to know.”

I knew who it was and it felt like a knife to my heart with every sound that followed from the other side of the room.

Matt suddenly groans from somewhere in the room. “Come on already between you two and the wolves I haven’t gotten an ounce of sleep.”

  My eyes widen.

  “Crap.” London snorts softly.

“This is so close to what happened in my dream.” I sigh roughly.

“We had sex in your dream, huh?” London replies as he wags his eyebrows at me. “Was I any good cause I sure as hell don’t remember having sex with you at all.”

I laugh as he reaches for me under the blankets.

Before I know it he has me pinned under him. “We might as well make it worth our troubles since we seem to be in a sex related war with them.”

I snort and then gasp as he moves quickly entering me.

“Seriously, you’re going to do this again?” Matt questions as he sits up next to our bed.

London only allows me to answer with a louder moan as he grins.

Matt groans but lays back down. “You guys suck, your stamina sucks too.”

London snorts but keeps moving within me.

As I reach that peek of bliss my eyes drift over to look at Blue’s bed.

I know I was asking for torment but I had to see for myself what he was doing and who he was doing it with.

Instantly my eyes lock onto his as he moves over the girl under him.

His eyes heat as he watches me.

A moan falls from my lips and he groans.

It was almost as we were the ones together.

Grabbing my chin London gently pushes my face so I had no choice but to look up at him. “Eyes up here, Sweetheart, I want you to see who’s making you moan.”

My eyes remain on his as he brings me to that place of pure bliss and then brings me tumbling over the edge before bringing me right back to that peek once more.

London buries his face into my neck as he brings me falling down along with him.

I moan loudly and he nips at my neck with his teeth. “That’s my girl.”

When we finish I turn to my side and London pulls me snuggly against his body. My back was to his front.

His hand snakes its way around me and I hug it close as my eyes once again meet Blue’s.

He was staring right at me.

The girl he had been with was rushing around the room gathering her clothes and slipping them on.

She glares at him once she’s dressed before leaving the room with a loud slam of the door.

“You sure as hell pissed her off, Blue.” Matt grunts from his place.

“Shut it, Matt.” Blue warns before throwing his pillow at him.

His eyes never leave mine though.

Soon London’s breathing evens out behind me and his arms loosen around my body before he turns onto his other side facing away from me.

And thankfully Matt’s breathing evens out as well as he finally gets the rest he deserved.

Glancing down at Matt for a moment Blue sits up in his bed before standing fully nude in front of me.

My skin tingles as I watch him move away and into the bathroom.

The shower turns on and I listen as he sighs softly as he climbs in under the water.

Moving slowly I sit up on the edge of the bed and then stand up without disturbing London.

I quickly make my way into the bathroom and softly shut the door behind me.

Making a wild decision I hurry and get into the shower with Blue.

His eyes widen as I stand in front of him and then close my eyes as I allow the hot water to wash the sweat and smell of London off of my body.

My eyes open though when Blue grabs hold of my bare hips. “That should have been you under me.” He states softly.

  I remain quiet though.

I didn’t know what to say.

Sorry didn’t seem like it was going to cut it.

When I don’t say a word he steps back from me. “Why did you sleep with him?”

“Honestly, Blue, I don’t remember a thing about last night.” I reply truthfully.

“But you still let him have you this morning.” He argues.

“I could say the same thing to you, Blue. Who the hell gave you the right to judge who I slept with when you were doing the same thing.” I growl out.

He snarls as his wall slams down. “I don’t know why the hell I cared what a wolf like you was doing.”

In a swift movement his hand grabs for my throat before he slams me back against the wall. “I hate you, and I hate your kind. I swear if I ever get close like this to you again it will be with a knife in my hand as I shove it through your heart.”

In the next moment he exits the shower leaving me alone.

With my back against the wall I slide down it until I’m sitting on the floor.

A sob catches in my throat.

Maybe I didn’t deserve to love anyone again.

Maybe my fate was to die reliving Gage’s death over and over again.

Crying softly I place my face into my hands.

  I was giving up.

I had nothing left to force me to go on and it didn’t matter since this was more than likely just another one of my terrible dreams.

This was one rollercoaster ride of emotion that I was more than ready to get off of.

Drying my tears I slowly stand up in the shower and begin scrubbing every inch of my body until my skin stings and turns bright pink.

I then scrub my hair and rinse it before shutting the water off and steeping out.

Standing in front of the sinks mirror I stare at my reflection.

  I hated myself.

Everything about me reminded me that I was stuck in a deep pit of sadness.

Turning away from my reflection I wrap a towel around my body and move out to the main room so I could find some of my clothes to change into.

Finding my bag I quickly but quietly change.

London and Matt were still sleeping but Blue was nowhere to be found.

Rolling my eyes I slip on my boots and then leave the room without disturbing either London or Matt.

Not caring one bit about the hotel being full of Hunters I change into my wolf form before running down the road.

I was going against all of our pack rules but I didn’t care.

Halfway down the road something slams into me.

I end up on my side of the road in the tall grass with another wolf’s teeth at my throat.

To my horror I recognize the wolf above me.

Brock, he was supposed to be dead but he was alive and well.

Changing into his human form he grins down at
me as I change into my human form as well. “Did you miss me, Parker?”

“How are you not dead, didn’t London kill you?” I growl out as I fight against him.

Shoving me hard he snarls. “London wishes that he killed me. Instead he ran away from our fight to pursue you.”

“Why are you here now?” I ask.

“I’m here to get what I want, I need an alpha female to take and you’re the one I want.” He replies.

“You can’t have me, I belong to Gage.” I lie.

Brock shakes his head as he laughs. “He’s dead. Everyone knows he’s dead, Parker. You can try all you want but you can’t lie to me.”

“Fine, then you can have me.” I give up. “Do whatever you want because I honestly don’t care what happens anymore. Without Gage I am nothing.”

Brock’s eyes widen in surprise. “They told me you were broken but I had no idea it was that bad.”

His hands release me as he steps back from me.

I push up and then stand to my feet beside him.

I lower my head and brush my hair to the side to expose my neck to him as I close my eyes. “Do whatever you want with me, Brock.”

At this point what did it matter?

If I ended up with Brock then so be it.

  11-Hard Choices

“What were you doing out here alone, Parker?” Brock questions instead of touching me like I had expected.

I open my eyes and look at him. “Does it really matter what I was doing?”

He shakes his head roughly. “You were running, but what were you running from?”

  I keep my mouth closed.

There was no way I was going to tell him anything.

Just because I was giving up didn’t mean that I wanted to spill my entire life story, I sure as hell wasn’t going to tell him about Blue.

Getting into my face Brock grabs hold of me so I had no choice but to look into his dark eyes. “Tell me what you’re running from.”

“Go to hell.” I spit out at him.

Suddenly a distinct click sounds out from behind me as we are joined by another presence.

  “Let her go.” Blue demands.

Brock glances between me and Blue for a moment before laughing. “You were running from a Hunter?”

I nod. “He wants to kill me.”

I was trying to play this off as if Blue was hunting me.
