I quickly get up from the table and rush through the house before answering it.

“Hello?” I whisper as I enter my room and shut my door before moving into the bathroom to turn on the water so no one would overhear my conversation.

“Hey, Parker, how are you?” Blue replies.

“I’m good, how about you?” I answer while trying to hold back the joy that I was feeling.

My heart was soaring that he had called.

“I’m good. Titus is training the hell out me already.” He laughs lightly. “I was just thinking a lot about you last night.”

“I hope it was good.” I tease.

“It was good, trust me.” He replies and then sighs roughly. “I need to know something, Parker.”

“Ask me anything, Blue.” I reply.

He takes a moment before speaking. “What is it that drew you to me? Was it because I look so much like Gage or is it something else?”

“It’s something else, Blue. Yes, you look so much like him but you are so much different than him. The dreams I had about you taught me a lot about who you are. I know we haven’t actually known each other but I’d like to think my dreams where correct.” I answer truthfully.

“I still want time for us to get to know each other though.” I add quietly.

“Have you had any of these dreams lately?” He questions next.

It was an odd question considering I had had one about him last night after I had been with Emmett.

I sigh softly. “I have them often, why?”

“Was the one you had last night as hot and steamy as mine?” He questions seriously.

I nearly choke on my breath before replying. “Please, tell me we didn’t somehow share that dream.”

He chuckles. “I think we did, Parker. I asked Titus about it and he said that it was something that happened when two wolves are true mates. You get dreams of them so that you will be guided to find them.”

“Wow, I guess that makes sense.” I reply softly.

“Anyway, I just wanted to hear your voice and to apologize for the times I’ve been a complete jerk to you. I was angry and at first I hated what I became. Now I’m seeing the brighter side to being a wolf. I just hope that one day my friends can accept me like they did with you when we were at the hotel.” Blue states softly.

“They will once they realize you’re still you inside.” I reassure.

“I hope so, Parker.” He sighs.

“Have you changed and gone for a run yet?” I ask changing the subject to something a bit more cheerful.

I swear I hear the smile in his voice as he responds. “It was absolutely amazing.”

“Just wait until you turn with a pack that you can communicate with. There’s nothing like it in the world.” I reply.

“I can’t wait. Rowan told me how much better it would be with a pack.” Blue sighs again.

He sounded a bit sad even though he seemed happy.

“Are you sure everything is alright, Blue?” I ask gently.

“I’ll be fine, Parker. I’ll call you again when I get a chance, okay.” He replies shortly.

  “Okay, Blue.” I sigh.

  “Goodbye, Parker.” Blue states quietly.

“Goodbye, Blue.” I reply and then end our call.

Sighing once more I stare down at the phone in my hand for a few moments before I put it back into my pocket and then turn off the running water.

I walk out of the bathroom and come face to face with Emmett.

“What was that about?” He questions.

“I was just talking on the phone with a friend.” I reply shortly.

“And you felt the need to keep it hidden, why?” Emmett pushes.

I shrug. “It was a private conversation.”

Emmett steps forward and places his hand against my cheek before brushing it through my hair then grabbing a handful.

He forces my head back so I have no choice but to look up at him.

“Who were you talking to? Was it that beta wolf, the one that you were in the woods with yesterday?” He growls.

“He’s my friend. I changed him into a wolf.” I reply through gritted teeth.

“He’s a beta and I swear if I catch you talking to him again I will punish you. Pack laws will stand behind me. You’re an alpha female and you should only be with an alpha male.” Emmett warns.

“Just because I slept with you last night doesn’t give you any right over me, Emmett. I will do what I want when I want.” I spit out at him.

He growls as he lets his grip go.

For a moment I think that I have won.

That is until Emmett grabs me and then tosses me down onto my bed before climbing on top of me, pinning my hands above my head with his hands.

  I fight against him uselessly.

“Let me remind you who made you feel oh so good last night.” Emmett laughs menacingly.

He frees one of his hands as he trails his lips down my neck.

I give up my fight as a small moan leaves my lips.

  I just couldn’t help myself.

Emmett expertly strips me of my pants and panties and then slips inside of me he lets out his own low moan of pleasure.

“Tell me who you belong to right now, Babe.” He demands as he elicits another moan from me.

“You, I belong to you.” I moan out.

“That’s my girl.” Emmett replies possessively as he quickly brings me up and over that peak of pure bliss.

When we finish he stands to his feet and then pulls his pants on. “Get ready for school. I’ll be waiting downstairs for you.”

Still lying on my bed I shut my eyes and whimper.

  I felt dirty.

I shouldn’t have let him control me like that.

But I had and there was no going back now, the only way to fix what had been done was to assert my alpha status against him again.

  I couldn’t back down once I did.

Then again maybe if I played this little game with Emmett I would gain his trust and be able to get him to talk about his pack to me.

It was going to suck but it was something I had to do.

Scrubbing my hands over my face I get up and rush into the shower.

A few minutes later I brush my hair and braid it before slipping into a jean skirt and light gray low cut tee shirt.

I slip on my favorite knee high dark gray boots and then grab my bag and head downstairs.

At the front door Emmett lets out a low whistle. “You look stunning, Babe.”

I give him my best smile and place my hand against his chest before leaning up to press my lips softly against his.

“Where are the others?” I ask as I pull back.

“I sent them on their way already.” He replies.

I nod and hold the words I wanted to say to him back.

Instead I take his hand and lead him outside and around the house towards the garage.

Since I was wearing a skirt there was no way I was going to be riding on my bike so I was going to have to take my other favorite vehicle, my Jeep.

I run my fingers along the red panels as I move to the driver’s seat and get in.

“You continue to surprise me with your choice of transportation, Babe.” Emmett laughs lightly.

I was quickly coming to hate that pet name he had come up with for me.

It just sounded so wrong coming from him.

Without speaking I pull out of the garage and then drive down the driveway and turn onto the road that would take us to school.

As we near the school I make a split second decision and turn down a different road leading us away from school.

I wanted to talk with Emmett.

And I knew the perfect spot where we could be alone and have some more time to ourselves.

“Where are we going?” Emmett questions.

  “We’re skipping school.” I grin.

He grins mischievously. “Good, I hope you’re taking us somewhere I can enjoy you in
that skirt of yours.”

Instead of replying to him I let Dillon know what I was doing. I didn’t want him worry about me when I didn’t show up for school.

“Dillon, I’m skipping school with Emmett.” I state into his mind.

“You’re seriously going to make me cover for you while you two get down and dirty?” Dillon replies playfully.

“Just cover for me, Dillon.” I reply.

“I will, but you’re going to owe me big time for this.” Dillon gives in.

“Thank you, Dillon.” I reply gratefully.

“You’re welcome, Parker, just be careful.” Dillon insists.

Our conversation ends and I continue on our way to a quiet little secluded parking spot in the middle of a nearby forest preserve.

No one ever went there for fear of wolves.

What they didn’t know was there were no actual wolves living in these woods. It had only been us and our kind passing through.

For years there hadn’t been a single wolf sighted there, but that didn’t stop the fear for the humans living around the area.

It was a fear that worked in our favor at least.

  17-I Spy

Driving down the dirt road towards the secluded spot Emmett gives me an odd look. “Where exactly are you taking us?”

“You’ll see.” I answer him shortly.

It takes a few minutes but we soon come to a wide clearing.

I stop my jeep and turn the engine off.

  “What now?” Emmett pushes curiously.

“Now, we talk. We get to know each other a bit better and we set boundaries because that stunt you pulled this morning was uncalled for. I refuse to be treated like a beta.” I reply easily.

My words had come out far easier than I had thought they would.

Emmett nods his head as he stares forward through the front windshield.

I could feel his growing anger radiating from him.

“Let’s take this step by step. I’ll tell you something about me that you don’t know and in turn you will tell me something about yourself.” I suggest.

I was hoping to calm him down by talking about each other first.

  Setting boundaries would come later.

“Okay, tell me something about you.” Emmett agrees as he turns to look at me.

I nod and bow my head as I pick at my fingers absently.

This first confession was going to be the hardest one that I would tell him and I was unsure about how he would take it.

Taking a deep breath I just decide to get it out in the open.

  “I dated a human boy.” I blurt.

Emmett’s eyes go wide for a moment until he looks away from me and nods his head.

A moment passes by before he looks at me again. “Why did you date a human, better yet why have you felt the need to be friends with them?”

“I didn’t always want to be what we are. I hated being a wolf and I hated the idea that one day I would be forced to become someone’s mate.” I explain.

“For a while I thought I could just pretend to be human. I thought it was a curse. It wasn’t until I had a fight with Gage that I realized that what we are wasn’t a curse and that it was in fact a gift.” I sigh softly as I look up at Emmett.

“I really wished I would have realized that sooner rather than later.” I add.

  Emmett nods but remains quiet.

“So, your turn, tell me something about you.” I push.

He sighs. “I don’t even know what to say.”

“Just tell me something, maybe something about your family. How many siblings you have or what life is like where you live.” I suggest.

“Well, there isn’t really much to say about my family. Most of my people died a long time ago thanks to the Hunters, but I’m sure you know that.” He begins.

  I nod and he continues.

“There are only twenty of us left in the Draco Pack. We’ve stayed hidden away until now because I am their last hope. Without me finding a mate the Draco pack will disappear completely.”

“Aren’t there any other alpha males?” I ask curiously.

He shakes his head. “I’m the last one. My father was killed just before I came here.”

“I’m so sorry, Emmett.” I whisper while taking his hand into mine.

“The same Hunters that killed him also killed the only girl I had ever loved. We hadn’t even had the chance to form our bond before they took her away from me.” He then growls out fiercely.

After a moment he clams down and turns to me. “Tell me something else.”

I frown. “If you hate Hunters so much I should warn you that two members of my pack were Hunters before I changed them into wolves.”

“Do they still have any ties to the Hunters?” He asks.

I shake my head. “No, they have fully turned themselves over to the pack. They have worked hard to learn our ways. We have used their knowledge of the Hunters against the enemy though.”

“Do you trust them?” He questions next.

“I do, with my life. They have both saved me from certain death.” I answer.

He nods his head accepting my answer.

  “Your turn again.” I smile.

“I’m sure you’ve heard of where my pack came from, right?” He asks.

I nod. “Yes, I was taught about all of the packs.”

“Okay, well that’s not exactly where my pack is located now. We’re stuck in a place that completely sucks. I swear most days felt like I was living in a jail cell. It’s the only way to remain hidden though. If we didn’t all of the other packs would come to finish us off.” Emmett confesses.

Now, this was the information that my father would love to hear.

“Why come out of hiding now? Isn’t it dangerous for you to be here with me now?” I ask.

He nods as he resumes his stare out the windshield. “It is dangerous, but I have no real choice in this matter. I cannot fail. If I fail my family will be lost forever.”

He then chuckles lightly. “So, now you can see why I’m a bit pushy.”

I nod my head. “I see that now but being that way will only make me hate you. I don’t want to be with someone who won’t allow me to be myself.”

He nods in understanding. “From now on I will keep that in mind. I guess I wouldn’t like it either if someone kept me from my freedom.”

To lighten the mood I confess my next bit of information. “Okay, now it’s my turn again. My favorite color is red.”

He laughs loudly before replying. “My favorite color is green.”

I chuckle. “We would be a good match for Christmas then.”

He nods in agreement before his laughter dies down and he becomes serious. “Tell me about your mate, how did he die?”

I sigh roughly as I turn my face to look out of the windshield absently.

“You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to.” Emmett replies gently.

“It’s alright, Emmett. If we want to have anything between us you need to know everything.” I reply softly.

After a long moment of silence I dive into my story. “Gage was everything opposite of what I was attracted to. There was just something about him that drew us together. That was both good and bad for us considering there was one alpha from the group that my father had gathered that was determined to have me as his.”

“One thing led to another, and before I realized what had happened I was under the control of that same alpha.” I sigh and close my eyes as I remember back to those moments.

“What was his name?” Emmett asks.

“His name was London Hail from the Redwood Pack.” I sigh again before going on. “He was everything I would have wanted in a mate but he couldn’t let me go. He used me and used my father to force a mating on me.”

“He also found a way to have Gage taken away from me.” I add.

“Where was he taken?” Emmett inquires.

I open my eyes as a single tear rolls down my cheek.
/>   These memories were painful.

“He was taken to the Island.” I whisper as I look to Emmett. “When I found out he had been taken there I devised a plan to get in. It worked for the most part but they had messed with Gage’s mind. He nearly killed me until he realized I was actually there.”

Emmett puts his hand up to stop me. “So, wait, you were captured and taken to the Island?”

“Yes, I walked right up to their front gate with Damon, one of the Hunters in my pack.” I reply with a nod.

“How did you escape, how are you here now?” He questions curiously.

“We got lucky.” I shrug. “One of the guards ended up locked in our cage with us. We didn’t kill him. Instead we let the human nature of one woman take over. She wanted to save him from us so she opened the door.” I explain.

“It only took us a second to attack and make our way out. We fought our way past guards. And we were nearly out when our luck changed for the worst, or at least Gage’s did.” I whimper.

Emmett takes my hand in his to give me support.

After a deep breath I continue on. “We thought we had won. We had killed so many guards. Out of nowhere a sing shot rang out. We had left one guard alive. That single shot killed Gage where he stood.”

“I wouldn’t be here without the help of my pack though. We had eyes on the inside and outside.” I add softly.

“It sounds like you had a lot of luck on your side. To even get out of there was lucky. I’m sorry you lost your mate in the process but you could have lost a lot more.” Emmett replies gently.

  He was right.

That day could have been much more tragic.

I could have easily lost my entire pack.

“So, tell me something else about you. You seem to have so many secrets.” I direct the conversation back to Emmett.

I didn’t want to relive anymore of my short past life with Gage.

“Well, what else would you like to know?” He asks with a smirk.

“You could tell me what you want from this.” I suggest as I motion between us.

He sighs as he runs his hand over his short cut hair. “I’ll be honest with you, Parker. I’m not really sure what I want from this. My family is pushing me into this mating thing but my heart still belongs to my girl.”

I nod in understanding. “My heart is taken too.”
