The sound of the condom wrapper tearing makes my pussy clench, and when he lines himself up to my entrance and pushes in, I call out his name. He brings one hand around to my clit and the other to my breast, but it’s when he bites my shoulder that I buck against him and come again.
“Amelia … Fuck, Mel, I love you,” he calls out as he explodes inside of me, throbbing as his release fills me.
I’ve been bent over long enough for soap to drip in my eye, and although it was worth it, I really need a towel.
“Noah, soap … in my eye. Give me a towel, please.”
“Oh shit, Mel. I’m sorry, babe.” He reaches up and pulls down a dry hand towel that was hanging on the side of the shower, using it to wipe my eyes so delicately and sweetly, it steals my breath. I’m beginning to love how he takes care of me.
“It’s alright. I’m fine, I promise,” I reply with a light laugh, and he relaxes. We finish showering, each of us washing the other, taking our time getting to know each other’s bodies. Noah turns off the shower and passes me two towels and then wraps himself up.
“Are you hungry yet?” he asks, and I realize I’m starving.
“So hungry. What do you want to do for lunch?”
He avoids my question and walks out of the bathroom, taking a seat on the edge of the bed, and puts his head in his hands. “Noah, what’s wrong?”
He takes a moment before looking up at me with a sad smile. “I want this tour to be over, Mel. I want my life back. I want to take the woman I love to lunch without having to worry we might bump into my psychotic ex. I just want some fucking normalcy for a change.”
“Sometimes, normalcy is overrated. And sometimes, you get lucky by loving a person who understands overeager fans and crazy exes more than most. I’d rather eat with you here, anyway, so I don’t have to share you with your adoring public any more than I already do. Is that wrong of me?”
“No,” he answers, pulling my mouth to his. “That’s everything right about you.” Getting lost in Noah’s kisses is quickly becoming one of my favorite past times.
Once we’re dressed, we both pick some things from the room service menu. I pick out a few things I know Belle likes in case she decides she’s hungry, and I hope she is since she’s eating for two.
“So do you want to tell me what happened at breakfast this morning? Or was it the sound check?” I ask Noah while we’re curled up together on the couch waiting for the food.
“How do you know anything happened?”
“You just seem distracted. I figured it was a good guess.”
He shakes his head in disbelief. “You already know me well. But I like it,” he adds with a sly smile. “The four of us guys and Anna were all having breakfast downstairs. Mac and Ryan were on duty, and after Sara’s stunt yesterday, Warren hired extra security.”
“That makes sense if she’s really that unstable. Besides, I know your crew is good, but you guys really don’t travel with many guards.”
He chuckles against the back of my head. “We’re guys, Mel, we can defend ourselves pretty well. Besides, it’s rare for a fan to get crazy out of hand.”
He can laugh it off, but I’m allowed to be worried, aren’t I?
“I just want you safe, Noah.”
“I will be, Mel. She didn’t do anything, anyway. All she did was stare at us. Oh, and she waved at the guys as if they were friends. It was really just irritating to be stared at the whole time. Then, of course, Anna had some choice words for her.”
I knew I liked Anna for a reason.
“What did she say?”
“As we got up to leave, Anna made sure to pass her table when we walked out. Then, all of a sudden, we heard Anna call her a bitch and accuse her of having a staring problem. Then she went off on her about the money she owes me, ranting about how she should start a fundraising campaign to pay me back. I don’t remember everything verbatim except what she told her to call the fundraiser. Loud enough for the entire restaurant to hear, Anna says, ‘You can call the campaign Thieving whore needs a sugar daddy for Lasik surgery and more. Hmm, actually, it sounds like a better title for your Tinder page.’
“Sara jumped out of her seat and lunged at Anna, but Ryan was right there and moved Anna before she could reach her. Not that it would have mattered, Anna could take her down. There’s no love lost between them, if you can’t tell.”
“Can you keep her from coming to the show?”
“Sure I could, but I’m not that vindictive. She bought her tickets like everyone else. We are going to have extra guards at the stage. The only saving grace I have is that these tickets are so hard to get. Unless she’s the luckiest girl in the world, she won’t be up front.”
With his luck lately, she will be, but I don’t voice my thoughts. There’s a knock at the door, and Noah carefully climbs over me to answer it. When I sit up, I can tell it’s the same guy from yesterday.
“Can I get you anything else, Mr. Weston?” he asks as Noah hands the payment pouch back to him.
“We’re good, thanks. Hey, did you decide what show to come to yet?”
The younger man blushes a bit and nods. “Yeah, I’m actually going tonight with my boyfriend, he’s a huge fan. Thank you again. Those tickets knocked me into boyfriend of the year status,” he says with a laugh.
“Good, I’m glad to hear it. Are you working tomorrow?” Noah asks, and I wonder what he’s up to.
“No, tomorrow is my day off.” Noah looks between him and me for a minute and then smiles.
“Mel, would you be willing to do me a favor tonight?”
“Of course.”
“Be in your seats by six, kid, can you do that? They’ll give you early access because your tickets are officially coded to me,” Noah says.
“Yeah, we were going to get there early anyway. We can do that.”
“Okay. Mel will come find you tonight and bring you a surprise. You’ll be boyfriend of the decade after this one. What’s your name, anyway?”
“Evan … Evan White,” he says as he reaches out to officially shake Noah’s hand.
“And your boyfriend? What is his name?”
“Ethan Black.” Noah raises a brow in surprise, and Evan laughs. “I know, all of our friends make fun of us.”
“Alright, Evan, we’ll see you tonight.”
Evan practically runs out of the room, and as Noah wheels the cart to me, I wonder what he’s going to do. I don’t have to wait too long to find out because he holds a finger up at me and makes a call. He hits the speaker button so I can hear, too.
“How can I help you, Noah?” Warren answers with a knowing tone.
“I need two meet and greet passes for tonight.”
“What are the names, and why do you always wait until the last minute? Never mind, don’t answer that, I already know. You just did another good deed.”
Noah laughs and shakes his head. “You should do more good deeds. You’ll feel better.”
“Yeah, yeah. Names, Noah.”
“Evan White and Ethan Black, and I need autographed shit. Two bags, shirts, headshots, CDs, whatever, just have someone make them good.”
“What is this all about, Noah?” Warren asks, suddenly intrigued.
“Young love, my man.”
Warren laughs heartily. “I think you love gay men more than I do.”
“Later, Warren,” Noah says as he disconnects the phone.
“Is that true? Should I be worried?” I push against him with my shoulder so he knows I’m joking.
“Maybe I have a soft spot. My cousin Jordan is bisexual. He was fucked up enough with what happened to him as a kid. When he realized he was attracted to both men and women, it really messed with him.”
“That must have been hard on him. Did he tell you?”
Noah smiles. “Not exactly, I walked in on him kissing a guy from our high school. I think we had just turned sixteen. At first, they didn’t see me, and like a
teenage pervert, I watched. I was so intrigued. They were making out just like I made out with my girlfriend. It struck a chord inside of me that Jordan must finally be happy. And Jordan finding happiness made it seem like everything was right in the world.”
The more I get to know Noah, the more I want to know about him. Every single detail. “What happened when he saw you?”
“I gave him a thumbs up and backed out of the room.”
My smile couldn’t be bigger. “That’s the best thing I’ve ever heard. Then what?”
“Don’t you think we should get Belle?”
“After. The food will keep warm for a few more minutes. I want to hear the rest of the story.”
He leans over and presses a soft kiss against my lips.
“About an hour or so later, Jordan came knocking on my door. He looked so embarrassed and apologized for what I saw. I remember thinking how fucked up it was he was apologizing for anything. I didn’t care if he was gay, I just cared he was happy and told him so. He sat at the foot of my bed and told me he was happy, but he was also confused and worried the past fucked up his sexuality somehow.”
“That’s so sad.” My heart aches for that boy and for any kid who struggles with their sexuality.
“It was then that he explained he was attracted to men and women. I was always studying back then, and not too long before that, we had been talking about sexuality in biology. I was intrigued with the different species and their procreating patterns, so I continued studying human sexuality in my spare time. I knew being bisexual didn’t have anything to do with his accident. I was so excited to finally be able to talk to someone about my ‘research.’ So I pulled out my computer and showed him it was actually pretty normal and told him I’d help him tell the family if he wanted.”
“Were you really researching? Or were you being a horny teenage boy?”
“Both,” he answers with a laugh. “I mean, I’d been having sex with my girlfriend for a while then, but there’s so much more to sexuality than sex. That’s what was intriguing to me. It took Jordan a while to accept the things I showed him. He asked me a lot of questions over the next few weeks, and then I sat down with him while he told my parents. They were so excited he was opening himself up. They called Sawyer and my sisters in and we had a family meeting about it right there.”
“You guys are a really close family, aren’t you?” It’s not like I didn’t know it; he calls his family a lot. It’s a little strange for me because I never had anything like that … not really.
“We are, and we became even closer after Jordan moved in. It sucks what happened to him, and I wish it never would have, but he really did complete our family.”
I squeeze his hand, just needing to feel him close for a second. “So what happened at the family meeting?”
“My parents used it as a teachable moment. Rory was only ten at the time. Diane was already in college, so nothing fazed her. My dad told us all that Jordan had a boyfriend right now and he made him really happy. But that someday, Jordan may have a girlfriend because his heart loves both boys and girls.”
“Wow, that is really sweet.”
“Yeah, Rory didn’t get it exactly. She high-fived him and told him she loved boys and girls, too. But it wasn’t about his sexuality, it was about being accepted. And in that moment, I knew Jordan’s fate brought him to us for a reason because his dad would have never accepted him. It fucking sucks, but it’s the truth.”
“How about Sawyer? How did he take it?”
“Sawyer struggled with it … a lot, actually. Not because he’s bigoted or anything. Sawyer doesn’t care what your sexuality, religion, or political agenda is as long as you stay true to who you are. He struggled because he felt like Jordan had been through enough and he didn’t need any more personal struggles on his plate.”
“I can understand that, too.” I can picture Sawyer being fiercely protective of those he loves. Especially Jordan.
“We came up with a plan as a family, with Jordan’s approval, of course. He didn’t hide it. He was open and proud of whomever he was with. If someone had a problem with it, they had a problem with us all. I think that’s why I wanted to give to Evan … because he reminds me of Jordan. I admire when people are open and honest about who they are from the start. It says a lot about their character.”
Unlike me.
“I think some people are bolder than others. We all grow at different paces, Noah. I get what you’re saying but just because someone doesn’t confess everything right off the bat doesn’t mean they won’t be some of the most amazing people you could ever meet in your lifetime.”
I know I’m taking his words to heart, but I didn’t tell him who I was when we first met for my own reasons. Not everyone wants or needs to throw their secrets out there for the world.
“Hey, I know that. Maybe it didn’t come out right. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to offend you.”
“You didn’t. I know you have a split second to make decisions at times. I get your reasoning. Just don’t forget you didn’t know about me when we met and I’m quickly becoming one of your favorite people, right?”
He pulls me into his lap and immediately begins kissing me on my neck, pausing by my ear. “You’re not becoming anything … you are one of my all-time favorite people.”
“Good,” I say just as he lowers his mouth to mine. He kisses me slowly, and I relish the feeling of his lips against mine. When he parts my lips with his tongue, I wrap my arms around his head and play with his hair while we explore each other’s mouths. It’s a long, passionate kiss, and when I’m at the brink of needing more, I hear Belle clear her throat.
Noah releases my mouth but not my body, and we both turn to greet her.
“Keep that shit up, you two. Seriously, Noah, this girl never relaxes. You’re the best thing to happen to her since me.”
“I plan on it,” he tells her as he gently pulls me up to a sitting position so we can eat.
“Are you hungry, Belle? I got you a few things I know you like in case you were and some ginger ale and crackers in case you weren’t.”
“I’m starving, but I’ll take the ginger ale for sure.”
“You got it. Chicken Caesar salad or cheeseburger and fries?” I ask as she looks over all the food. “Or you can have my club sandwich and I’ll eat whatever.”
“Can we split the sandwich and the salad? I think my stomach can handle that.”
“Yup. So did you get some sleep?”
“I did,” she says, looking directly at Noah. “And I sent Darren a text letting him know we’re on for our Skype call tonight. I’d like to surprise him at the meet and greet just for shits and giggles before I blow his world apart after the show tonight.”
“Cool,” Noah says, but she’s still staring at him. “Did you forget your pass?”
“Yeah, I left in a hurry. Is there any way you can hook me up?”
Noah pulls his phone from his pocket and puts it to his ear. “Hey, Warren, I need another pass. This one all-access. Can you have it discretely brought to my room and don’t tell anyone else about it? No other band members. No, it’s not another good deed. Belle came to surprise Darren and forgot her pass at home. Yeah, I know … I’m a sucker for romance. Thanks, man, you’re the best.”
“I want to be you when I grow up,” she tells him with a smile.
“Most people do. Good thing you have an in.”
“Why are you over there smirking?” she asks me.
“No reason.”
“Liar,” they both accuse at the same time.
“Sometimes, a girl needs to keep her thoughts to herself.”
Belle looks to Noah and fake-whispers, “She’s happy we’re getting along but she doesn’t want to say it.”
“I know. Isn’t she adorable, though?” Noah fake-whispers back, and Belle falls backward in her seat, throwing her arm over her eyes.
“Fucking swoon worthy, too. I
think God put you through hell with Eli so you’d appreciate the heaven he was going to drop at your feet with this one.”
Noah laughs when I throw daggers at them both with my eyes. “It was fate, Mel. I told you.”
“He even believes in fate? Where have you been all my life? Forget her, we can run off together and you can be mine instead.”
“Have you ever seen Darren mad?” he asks Belle, completely seriously.
“No, should I be worried?”
“Only if you’re the one running off with his girl. I won’t be putting myself in that situation … like ever. No offense.”
“We’re not serious enough for him to fight for me.” She brushes him off, but I can tell he’s got her thinking about more.
“You’d be surprised. When Darren wants something, he gets it, and lately, all he’s been wanting is you.”
Belle takes a sip of her soda, and our conversation flows smoothly. After Belle excuses herself to go shower, I pull Noah into our bedroom when I hear the other shower turn on.
“What do you think Darren is going to do? I need to prepare for damage control and freak outs.”
“I think Darren is going to freak out at first and maybe even lose his temper. But he’ll come around quickly, and that’s going to be it. They’ll both be off the market and planning a family.”
“I hope so. Babies make things so complicated,” I reply on a sigh.
“Babies are a gift from God, people make things complicated.”
“There you go with that fate stuff again. Watch it, Weston, I might start thinking you want to make me a believer.”
He pulls me close and hugs me tight. “Damn straight I do. Then you’d be nearly perfect.”
“Nearly?” I push him back at arm’s length. “What else do I need to do to be perfect in your eyes?”
“There’s really only one thing.”
His husky voice wraps around me and pulls me toward him until I’m standing inches from his mouth. “And what would that be?” I ask as his eyes fixate on mine.
“My last name. If you had my last name, you’d be absolutely perfect. Even if you didn’t believe in fate because I’d believe in it enough for both of us.”
