Cole stands up. He sweeps me into his arms and kisses me. Then he pulls away, a curious look on his face.
“That was a yes, wasn’t it?”
I nod my head up and down with restrained enthusiasm. “Of course, it was. I’m very glad that you asked me.”
His eyes narrow and he regards me with suspicion written all over his handsome face. “Why’s that? Vic said you’d kill me for doing it tonight instead of somewhere romantic.”
I stand on my tip-toes and wrap my arms around his neck. He lowers his mouth to mine, his intention to kiss me again clear to see in his expression. Just before our lips meet, I pull away and confess in a voice loud enough for everyone to hear, “I’m glad you asked me tonight.”
I pause and look him straight in the eyes.
“Because I’m pregnant.”
