“I’m curious,” Josh said. “What did you discover about our meeting? Do you know what it’s about?”
“You really want to know?” Amy asked, surprised. She looked at Jamie. “Are you sure you want me to say something?”
“You might as well,” Jamie said. “You’re probably right.”
Heather shrugged.
“All right,” Amy said. “Well, does your meeting have anything to do with an engagement.”
“They are good!” Josh said. “I can’t believe it. I didn’t tell anyone except Jamie about this, and you figured it all out.”
“Maybe not all of it,” Heather said. “You were the one who didn’t say anything?”
“Don’t play coy,” Josh said. “I know that you know now. I want to get married. I was asking my best friend for pointers on how to best propose. And to find the perfect ring.”
“We didn’t even realize that you were seeing anyone,” Amy said.
“It’s a new relationship,” Josh admitted. “But when you know you know. And I want to spend the rest of my life with her.”
“We’re so happy for you,” Amy said. “And we just can’t wait to meet her.”
Josh began talking about his hopefully-soon-to-be-fiancé and how excited he was for them all to get together. Heather and Amy listened and nodded. They were happy for Josh and would be pleased to attend his wedding. However, they couldn’t help thinking that they had jumped the proposal gun again.
