“I will,” he replied and rested his head briefly on the top of hers. “I'm just not ready to let go of you yet.”
Wendy smiled against his shoulder and wrapped her arms around him. She held him gently against her. In that moment with police officers and hotel security running up and down the hallway, it seemed to Wendy that their surroundings ceased to exist. There was only the warmth they shared between them.
There might not be a wedding the next day, but Wendy knew that Anne and Rowan would have the opportunity to declare their love when they were ready. She was only glad that she could be a part of making sure that they had the chance.
“Don't forget you owe me dinner,” Brian whispered beside her ear.
“That is something I have no intention of forgetting,” Wendy smiled and kissed him softly.
