Chapter Twenty-one
In Brent, Maine, the feasting had begun. The Wedding would take place on the morrow but it was to be a two day celebration. The town was filled with humans, Vampire and Lycans. The town square was spread with tables as far as the eye could see. Food was plentiful. Music echoed all across the town and into the lands surrounding it. Many were dancing as others mingled and laughed.
Ryker and Lisette watched from their vantage point as they sat on the top step of the church in the center of the square.
“I know it’s silly of me to want to be married in the church. I’m too old I know and already married once. But I want God to bless our union. I know he will. He created your, our, kind as well as all other species and I’m still a little old fashioned. You don’t mind, do you, my love?” Lisette looked questioningly into Ryker’s eyes.
He took her hand in his and raised it to his lips. “Doesn’t matter to me where I make you mine. And I know God will bless us. He blessed me with you. Tomorrow will be the beginning of a long life together.”
“You won’t tire of me, for we will live a long time.”
Ryker looked into the eyes of the woman that had risk her life to save his,” Never, my lady. For as long as I live I will love you. And hopefully we will end this rebellion soon and live it in peace.”
“Let’s not think of that until after tomorrow. For now let’s only live in the present and celebrate.” Lisette leaned into Ryker’s arms.
He wrapped them both around her and held her close. He knew that there was much more to come. But he would let it rest for this one night and one more day.
The day of the union brought sunshine and perfect temperatures. The church was packed and the double doors left opened as many filled the ground outside. There wasn’t a single being in Brent that wasn’t there. Everyone was dressed in their finest, three species that had become united. They all watched as Lisette, beautiful in an off white gown embellished with pearls and lace. A sliver of a crown encircled her head as the golden circle shown in the light of the sun. She reached Ryker with a smile on her face. He was as handsome as a man could be. Distinguished in a suit as black as night. His blue eyes looked on her with love and desire.
The preacher was quick with the vows and soon the rings, made of gold, united Lisette and Ryker as man and wife.
A cheer went up from the onlookers as the two left the church and raced down the aisle toward a waiting limousine. Soon the car was gone to a hidden destination for one night.
The people of Brent didn’t stop celebrating until late into the night. Vampire, Human, and Wolf forming an even more solid alliance as they feasted. No one judging another. They would enjoy this last night. Tomorrow they would begin to train again.
A battle had been won, but the War was just beginning.

Alliance of Peace
Roman
The War Begins
Roman isn’t sure He is the Lycanthrope for the job. He had followed Archer for so long. He had never been the leader. Now he was being sent all the way to Alaska. He knew many people in the North Country. He had originally lived with them before he had met Archer. But it had been a long time. And his reason for leaving was a personal one. Now the former leader was dead. Killed in a blitz attack while hunting. The assailants had escaped. The former leader who just happened to be his father. So he had to go for two reasons. To be there for his father’s sending and then he was expected to take over. Right when Archer needed him. But Archer had assured him this was a good thing. Roman would be a good leader, Archer had told him. He wasn’t so sure. Especially during this time of rebellion. He would be responsible for the whole pack. And that included the reason he had left. A member of the pack named Carly.
He still remembered the feel of her lips on his when she kissed him goodbye. When she told him that she was in love with another. When she had broken his heart. He remembered the times before she met Mason. The times they spent growing up together. Running free in the endless cold of the wild Alaskan wilderness. The soft feel of the coat of white she wore as wolf. The green of her eyes
And now he was going back to lead. He didn’t need to be thinking about Carly. She was off limits. He would have to stay focused and prepared. To get his people ready for War. To make sure the pack was in alliance with the closest Vampire clan. The responsibilities were overwhelming.
He wasn’t sure if anyone would challenge him since he had been away so long. Archer had been in touch with his mother and she had assured Archer that he would be welcomed and accepted.
He hadn’t seen his mother in too long. He was ashamed of himself for that. She knew why. They talked every week. His father had never forgiven him for leaving. He was sad they hadn’t mended fences before it was too late.
But it was what it was.
And he hoped he was ready
